Great review, great editing great execution or presentation super informative and entertaining. I don’t understand how you guys only have 700 subscribers but this channel is a hidden gem
Just for a heads up, you can only test drive it if you have a reservation. If you don’t have a reservation for a car, they won’t let you drive. The car smells like a carcass btw 😂 It’s like you walked into a leather factory
I've been driving my "Slow" version of the GT and cannot imagine a scenario on the street that could use the extra 200hp of the Performance version. There is a range penalty for the P version. Bragging rights, actual timed competition, and needing to burn $20k before the wife gets home are the only motivations I can think of, but I might have bought it anyway if it had been announced before I finalized my order.
I ordered my GTP just 3 weeks ago and I’m all fired up and then That Sapphire was unveiled! Sticking with the GTP, that sapphire is a “widow maker”. Lol
I love this car too. Mine, red GT on 21" wheels, arrived just over two months ago. Just now I am getting ready to take it out for another ride in the country. Everybody talks about the tech specs, charging, range, power, but as you guys found, it is the solid performance driving experience and put-together-ness of the car that make it stand out, not just from EVs, but from every other car. Ben rightly credits the Air's handling to the Lucid team. Peter Rawlinson did work briefly at Tesla, but notably ran the engineering at Lotus and Jaguar before that. Even earlier he designed a built his own open top sportscars. One of the first people Rawlinson hired after joining Lucid was Derek Jenkins, formerly of Mazda where he had just completely redesigned the MX-5 Miata to glowing reviews. They built a top shelf team of industry talent. I have tried Launch Mode twice, but I have too much mechanical sympathy to do that regularly. It is much more rewarding to drive swiftly yet smoothly, not upsetting the car. There is a famous essay titled _The Pace_ written years ago by motorcyclist Nick Ienatsch that strongly influenced me in this style of road riding/driving. It's worth a quick read. The Lucid is perfect for that style of driving for pleasuer. First time to see your channel. Really good review. Subbed. Lucid did right by inviting you guys.
Did the USA FINALLY build an auto that can not only compete with the European style, build quality, technology and performance, but, actually surpass them? Once the software is taken care of (which it will), this company will be a Titan 😉.
Great video. One minor adjustment I would make is about the Pure trim level. If you check the reservation site, the Pure model will actually have the option to have a dual motor setup. I'm not sure what that means from a HP perspective but it would definitely have AWD capabilities. Definitely an exciting car for the EV market.
Love the video and detailed descriptions of the driving experience! I have a reservation and am debating between this or the model S. I definitely prioritize the handling and drivers car aspect and I appreciate that you all touch on that. I am curious if you all had experience and thoughts on how this compares on that aspect to the model s?
It's a better, next gen Model S. And better every way except the infotainment. If you want to bond with your car get a Lucid. If you want to play with your screen get a Tesla
@@thegreatpaulsmith appreciate the comment! Technology isn’t a big concern or dealbreaker for me. Definitely leaning more towards the Lucid Air then, thank you!
If you watch the entirety of the video we touch on this a few times. To us, the Lucid is absolutely the better CAR. To echo PaulSmith below, Tesla may be the better iPhone like tech experience but that's not what I'm looking for in a car, especially if it's my daily driver.
I had a deposit for the 800hp variant, drove it. It's a very good car, excellent driving dynamics, would prefer air suspension, looks nice, but not exotic. Went with RS Etron GT instead Another stellar review gentlemen
@@junaidkhan8255 there are many headwinds with Lucid, including viability of the company. There is a slim chance they even survive. It was something I wanted a get, but between the company and to me it's not a $154k car. It's looks beautiful, but not $154k beautiful
Well the Performance model that we reviewed here has an MSRP that's higher than any Tesla, that is true. However The GT, The Touring and the Pure are all lower MSRP's than a loaded Model S and definitely a Plaid.
@@TheCarCrush However you also fail to mention that the Tesla has the benefits of the country wide Tesla charging network which works unlike other electric chargers. Tesla software is also a lot more advanced. The lucid does not even have basic CCTV recording to keep the car secure. Tesla also gave away all its patents for free to help other companies make electric cars. Why is this information omitted when mentioning Lucid and Tesla in the same sentence?
@@kb8570 - We’ve mentioned Tesla’s far superior charging ports in every video we’ve done with an EV. If you watch our E-tron video half the video is about that very thing. We are by no means hating on Tesla, we love Tesla in fact. They have revolutionized the automobile. This was simply a review of a car that we think is a really amazing alternative to somebody who wants more creature comforts and additionally gets the best range of any EV on sale today. There is no mal-intent when omitting information. This wasn’t meant to be a side by side comparison.
@@kb8570 Pro Tip: Tesla's trollish oversensitive fans are one reason some people turn away from the brand. Accusing reviewers of bias in any review of another company's EV does not improve the public image of the brand you favor.
@@Miata822 The media tried for 5 years to kill Tesla. Even the auto dealers tried to ban Tesla from selling vehicles online. You need to know your facts.
