Sorry about SLASH but he's got to understand this even the people have to understand this Lucie only has 4 to 5 minutes per performance on X-Factor so that's why they had to skip his guitar solo from the beginning.
They don't do these songs to be just like the original artists. They will ALWAYS modify it for the singer's voice. ALWAYS! I thought she knocked it out of the park. Great job!
+Morgan Karmichael I do agree normally but to play devils advocate here the show is about the vocals. It's a singing competition. The guitar would have taken focus away from that especially since her vocals were actually quite weak
eddie sanders Yes which is basically what my comment should have suggested.... however it is a singing competition, when you have only around 3 minuted to do your thing you are not going to use a minute + for soloing I think I would have screamed like a girl however if Slash had walked out half way through to kick he arse
+Sir Boast-a-lot I totally agree. The guitar solo IS the song. That being said, this girl will one day be famous is she gets the righ mgr. and song. Simon always looks to the business end of singing as you should if you want to make a living at it.
+austin teutsch mmm beg to differ slightly i love this song because of the interplay between axls vocals and slashes quitar licks When axl sings slash is quiet and when slash winds up axl is quiet that is what makes that song for me (oh and the awesome bass and rythme that holds the song together)

Ant B Nope not really. There are plenty of bands that can cover songs without screwing them up. But songs won't be forgotten or won't "fade away" because they are that great. Songs like 'Sweet Child O' Mine' is one of those songs.

I do think Simon knows talent when he sees it. I got to give it to him, he is a genius. He owns the X Factor. He is the creator, producer and judge in it. He is like god in this show. Simon left American Idol and that show is struggling now.
I get standing ovations at karaoke when I sing this, or should say attempt to sing this, not that I am a great singer but for having the balls to try it, I take my hat off to this chick she did a really good job on a very difficult song and trust me I am a big axl rose fan

I'm sure musicians would have loved to play the whole song but i'm pretty sure they have to cut it down to 3-4 minutes, otherwise i'd go there and play shine on you crazy diamond lol.
The competition is not about playing guitar. If she loves the song maybe must try to do a full version elsewhere, live and with a good guitar player for the solo, or a good band in general. Then we can see and judge.

It's in the paperwork you have to sign. The producers and editors can do whatever they want with you and your style once you are accepted. Which is why the contestants often get makeovers and have to sing songs that they don't really like.
I saw that some of u said that it's nothing without the solo, i'm a singer and a guitar player and i love this solo very much but u must understand that this is not a solo competition, it's a vocal one and this girl has covered this song in her own style and sung PERFECTLY!!!!!!! Instead of wasting your time by watching music videos if you are not a passionate of music just watch Teletubies or Spongebob etc etc............. Short minded.......

she did the song in her own style, was watching a interview on BCC America they were talking about differnt acts doing Guns & Roses songs, with Slash . Slash said he would love to do this song with Lucie Jones he thought she had a Great Voice & did it in her own way. He went on to say that Lucie & Fergie were the only 2 women he ever heard that could do justice to this song

people before you have any right to complain about any of these singing competitions. you need to take a short course in musical appreciation. these are covers for a reason, to allow the person show off their talents, not to be the artists that originally made the songs themselves
one problem.. we ALL have the original G&R RECORDING.. which is as perfect as a song can get. That recording is damn near the TOP of recording history. NO ONE can match the recording

Guys, that's VERY radical thinking. She did not degraded the song, just twisted to sound a bit smoother and elegant. Actually, i do like both versions.

Ok,I never saw this before, and, after reading all the comments I was ready for a disaster. Is she Axle? not even. But wtf ppls?. It was a dam good, fresh, and somewhat original piece, some of the background music could have been switched just a bit to fit her better, but I think she did very well.Unlike some of you, I actually used to perform live, and to see her go from that 40's? ballad or whatever it showed in the flashback, to this- very good. Not Excellent, but with some changes it would get there, and maybe even be a good cover song to add to her upcoming album.
Pretty shitty rendition of this song! Absolutely absent was the lead guitar work which was so crucial to this tune! They must be run of the mill background musicians!
+Timms MC but sometimes people try to hard to get that certain voice and end up strained in the throat and trashing the song. this is truly a difficult song to sing.
Considering the time limit they had. The modification of the song for her voice was perfect. No one can every copy Guns an Roses original, that's why it's original. But for her voice and what they did, it worked and that is the only modified version that I've ever heard of that song that actually worked for the person singing it. Because everyone else tries to copy the lead singer, cant' remember his name, of Guns and Roses.
Axl Rose of the late 80's - early 90's was the only person that should sing this song. Maybe he should have died in 1990 and left us with this masterpiece.
Lucie, you have a great voice, you are a good singer. But this is G n' R, it's rock, you don't have that kind of voice to cover this. Axl had, he did it fucking awesome.

The solo is one of the best parts of the song, I agree. Though in fairness, this show is more about the singer, so it would make sense that they cut it out. Just saying.
Great job of a tuff song truth be told I only watched it because I love the song Danni minogue sure knows how to get the best out of her contestants just look at this years Aussie x factor winner Dami im I mean What a Change from geek to Pop & Rock freak !
