@@andreas7136 She sang this song herself. She was coached by David Craig, noted film vocal coach and Nancy Walker's husband. Lucille Ball also spent a year and a half on Broadway starring in a musical drama, "Wildcat". She did strain her voice on that show, affecting her singing voice permanently.
Lucy is my idol!!!!! I really love this song breezing along, it's the kind of song that makes you feel good while traveling a long with the man you love and the breeze in your hair. You go !!!! Rickey and Lucy!!!!
I just watched the movie and absolutely loved it. I heard before the movie started that Lucy wanted to do this movie in color so that she could see what she looked like in color. She was also between seasons 2 and 3 of I love Lucy. Just a very funny movie. 👍🏻👍🏻.
Lucille Ball’s only Broadway credit was the 1960-61 musical WILDCAT, which she did years after I LOVE LUCY. Unfortunately, it was a major flop. She was a showgirl and dancer in early Hollywood films, never Broadway and not everyone on Broadway has to sing. Many actors don’t have great voices but can interpret a song.
She did broadway in 1960 for Wild Cat, that's it. Actually Desi has broadway credit as well in 1939 musical Too Many Girls before the film adaptation in 1940.
I dunno....though I do know that a lot of those old American cars had more powerful engines than it looked like from the outside. Always with the rumbly V-8s, I was awakened at from sleep by many such a 1950s-60s engine back when I was a small kid in the 1970s.
For the scenes where they had to pull the trailer up the mountains they actually switched out the car that they drove for a bigger, more powerful convertible.
Lucy didn't sing bad here. She pretended to sing bad in I Love Lucy. She also sang with her real voice in Mame, but her voice was a lot deeper. Smoking damaged her voice. I remember first watching this movie in 2011 & Forever Darling in 2011. I got their movie collection for Christmas that year.
the sad thing is that as a famous couple they could of never taken off and lived in a trailer. they never had actual freedom to do a lot of things we take for granted
@@estelleadamski308 Desi was an addict: women, booze and gambling. His 2nd wife was going to divorce him for the same reasons. Edie made a mistake in marrying Desi - her husband had a lot of money and did not cheat on her. Desi's charm hurt his both wives - both loved him - but he was relentless in his addictions.
The schtick in I Love Lucy was that Lucy could not sing or dance, she could do both - but was a better dancer than she was a singer. When they had her singing on the show - she was always off key - really off key. I think one time they let her voice be not so terrible. Also, often in dance numbers she was good, but could even have been better but they stuck to the script so she could not get on Ricky's show.
You probably could tell that Desi wasn’t really looking at the road because they were singing together. But this was done when they were making I love Lucy.
