Elvis Costello; one of those artists who make you proud to be British. A class, class act and a proper musician. Love Lucinda Williams too - such a beautiful vulnerability to her lyrics and voice.
So true on both accounts Lenny. I have been a big fan of EC for close to 35 years and more recently a huge fan of Lucinda. I get the feels everytime she sings.
You may know already, Lucinda is our national treasure. Now I vote Elvis into the same club. Not that I recently discovered Elvis. I was there when he did Radio, Radio on SNL.
The perfect song for these two amazing song stylists. Mr Costello's lower range and chest voice add a masculinity never before delivered on his tune. His vibrato adds just the necessary emotion. The harmony added by Miss Williams - is subtle and angelic. In addition the pedal steel doing licks reminisent of Lay , Lady Lady in tone, shimmer against perfect waves of Hammomd organ are just magical. All the natural elements of folk rock without any pretense. Just beautiful.
maybe the best cover ever of this iconic song. two great voices blending with a poinentcy that does the glimmer twins honor.two epic talents, those voices
"All music is folk music, I ain't never heard no horse sing a song." - Louis Armstrong a wonderful world and Folks who remind us we the music are just the situation folks .
a classic song & music. by multiple musical artist doing it , gives it authentic placement that the rolling stones are very creative musician we will continue to enjoy forever.
Also, E.C. is a fan of Gram Parsons who recorded Wild Horses with pleasure after Mick introduced it to him. A wonderful song no matter who songs it. Costello owns any song he sings.
Lyrics Childhood living is easy to do The things you wanted I bought them for you Graceless lady you know who I am You know I can't let you slide through my hands Wild horses couldn't drag me away Wild, wild horses couldn't drag me away I watched you suffer a dull aching pain Now you've decided to show me the same No sweeping exit or offstage lines Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind Wild horses couldn't drag me away Wild, wild horses couldn't drag me away I know I've dreamed you a sin and a lie I have my freedom but I don't have much time Faith has been broken tears must be cried Let's do some living after we die Wild horses couldn't drag me away Wild, wild horses we'll ride them some day Wild horses couldn't drag me away Wild, wild horses we'll ride them some day written by Keith Richards & Mick Jagger
“I do write country songs - I just don’t write country songs that get played on country radio” - and for that - the radio programmer who perpetrated this should be horsewhipped in the public square
you have a warped, skewed outlook. I pity you and all the great music you"ll never be able to appreciate.if your so wise regarding over singing why are you not a famous vocalist, arranger, or bandleader touring the world? I know offer to give voice lessons to Elvis who likely earns more in a year than you will in your entire tunnel vision life. suck it
