Hide your background, hide your fame Hide your given middle name Swallow your pride, swallow your pills In your house up in the hills Leave your husband, leave your wife Keep on runnin' your whole life Sweep your dirt under the rug Fix your hurt with a little love From the cradle to the grave You will always be a slave To the quiet darkness of your memories And that's the truth, my friend The ugly truth, my friend I've got proof, my friend And that's the truth Keep your secrets to yourself Keep your paperbacks up on the shelf Burn your bridges, burn your friends Blow 'em kisses and make amends Take the high road or take the low No one but you and God will ever know And you might play rough and win or lose Either way, love, you'll get the blues From the cradle to the grave You will always be a slave To the quiet darkness of your memories And that's the truth, my friend The ugly truth, my friend I've got proof, my friend And that's the truth I've got proof, my friend And that's the truth
Thank you..Lucinda! Sometimes the Ugly Truth can end up mighty Beautiful! Thank you as an Auntie letting my babies know that excessing through music, dance, and life experiences is the way to be Free thank You for thinking out the box and letting Go and Allowing God
My favorite female singer/songwriter of all times AND wearing a T-Shirt of my favorite band of all times, Lynyrd Skynyrd!! (i have that same shirt). I can only imagine what a lucinda williams and ronnie van zant duet would be like. Lu and Ronnie are the two absolute best songwriters who had/have the uncanny ability to write the truth about their lives, life and experiences. Working class people. Love, tragedy, the road. Loss, forgiveness, addiction, violence, sorrow, broken deams, broken friendships, good friends and family. Would a Lucinda Williams and Ronnie Van Zant album not be freekin' incredible?
I LOVE LOVE LOVE LUCINDA one of my all time favorite songwriters and performers only a handful of the best of the best equal or in Ray Davies case top her since he tops everyobody! I like that thought. That is quite a lovely thought coming from the guy. I know that sounds dumb but I think you know what I mean. Peace and blessings to you.
They're very different, both phenomenal. Her songs touch me in a deeper place overall, but his do to. His songs have more levity and humor. As a singer she's better. But, who needs better than they both touch us deeply.
Sorry but no.She is great but bought GPs at the time and its still the best. Next is Scottish bloke Davie Craig who used to sing it at the Hare and Hounds in London with the late RobinMcKidd.
Hey Kids, don't make the same mistake that I did! Take those ghosts out of the closet, hang 'em up on a clothes line and disinfect them with sunlight. Sit back in a deck chair with a cool beverage and watch 'em blow in the breeze! You gotta look at this "truth stuff" or it'll haunt you forever . . .
