Hiyo y'all, back with another EPIC animatic! This time for 'Luck Runs Out' cos I haven't seen many animatics for it and thought it would be fun to do! The song is probably my favourite in the Ocean Saga, and I loved how it delved into how Odysseus acts as a compassionate captain, as well as Eurylocus' concerns.

Technically he was right they were almost at ithaca when they were swept by the storm so close that his mom saw the storm from afar and being sure that oddy was in that storm

This animation style is *adorable*. Also: Odysseus: "I'm going to go knock on this wind deity's door and ask for help!" Eurylochus: "Um, captain, maybe have some caution? We did just piss off a powerful being rather significantly by intruding into his home carelessly (and then you concluded that interaction by being hubristically smart-mouthed about harming him). And well, a WIND GOD might just be connected to the storm we're trapped by... You know the gods are kind of, uh, temperamental?" Odysseus, who has spent the last decade-plus with Athena in his head (and just fucked up that relationship) and also had a rather aggravating chat with Zeus: "Bro, are you *doubting* me now? You think I can't talk to a god without pissing them off?" Eurylochus, mentally: "Captain, bro, you are literally named 'ANGER BRINGER', so with all due respect, the possibility had entered my mind, yes..."

to odysseus's credit... he didn't even fuck things up, it was all his crews fault he did everything in his power to listen to the wind god and keep the bag close but for SOME REASON his crew doubted him and decided "yea captain stayed awake 9 days to keep this close, lets open,. clearly this WIND GOD gave him treasure and he's refusing to share it with us/show us"

@@alakazamlover4908 Oh yeah, to be clear, I wasn't intending to imply that the bag fiasco was Ody's fault - Rather, that Eurylochus is concerned that the acts of A. Harpooning your ships to a relatively unknown deity's island might be seen as aggressive and B. Waltzing into said deity's home to ask them for help (when there's a chance that said deity is involved in making the storm) may be seen as rude Especially when the gods are known to be as... unpredictable/mercurial/capricious/proud as they are. ESPECIALLY considering how their most recent venture of 'go into someone's home uninvited and with expectations' just went, and Odysseus undeniably has a tendency to irritate people by his nature alone.

Also I know a number of people were asking about Eurylocus and the yellow spirit fire stuff - it's purely metaphoric. I just wanted to use it to help spice up the animatic, as it's pretty much a song about Eurylocus raising his concerns and Odysseus reassuring him on a boat - and it's not particularly an "active" song

Oh my heart. I'm so obsessed with your Ody design. He's such a cute bean. The Aeolus design is so cool as well! I loved the shadows/ghosts, and then bringing them back when Ody asks for Eury's support. The crew was adorable omg. The way he's breathing out and doing the hand fold thing when he's like... We need to talk! And I love how you show how close they are with all these little hand gestures etc. 💕💕💕

Okay I absolutely _adore_ your character designs. Odysseus looks so soft and warm right now, but I can absolutely picture him looking furious with his hair down and it is _terrifying._ The transition from him being a compassionate little child to ruthlessness incarnate is going to be so good in your style. Eurylocus is insanely tall and buff but he also looks so huggable and I think this animatic helped me like him better than any of the songs did. Plus, Eurylocus being the "voice of the crew" is portrayed SO WELL - I love the idea that it's not just a stylistic choice, it's an actual power that he holds. His eyes pulsing every time the crew backed his lines is just gorgeous, and I actually gasped when he manifested the spirits of the dead crew (assuming that's what they were). You're such an amazing artist. I have to go check out the rest of your work now :)

the irony in this song is that its not even Odysseus's fault they get fucked over he stayed awake for NINE DAYS to keep the bag closed but the MOMENT he dozed off, his CREW MATES despite KNOWING what it was opened it, which in turn pushed them into Poisdons territory (Which i guess the entire sea, but specially to the land of the giants)

This might be the cutest Odysseus design I've seen, he's so adorable!!! And I really love how you chose to show their arguing, with bright images and everything, there's even some homoerotic tension there. Thank you for animating this song, it's so good but doesn't has as much attention as others.

Actually both Eurylochus and Odysseus are married men. Odysseus is married to Penelope while Eurylochus is married to Odysseus’s sister Ctimene.

It actually is more of an argument. The animatic, while the art style is beautiful, is actually very misleading. The argument these two were having was not only way more tense but also in front of the entire crew. Odysseus wasn’t being pleading or gentle or touchy feely with Eurylochus either. He’s being commanding as his captain, he’s annoyed and is losing his patience with his second in command arguing with him. Even bringing his brother in law into a private discussion to tell him to stop questioning his actions.
