Lucky Bay is located approx. 530kms north of Perth. Heading north from Perth, you can either take Indian Ocean Drive or the Brand Highway, then on through Geraldton to Northampton.
At Northampton, turn right into Port Gregory Drive. After 42kms turn right into George Grey Drive and the Pink Lake will be on your left. Or keep going towards Port Gregory and the Pink Lake will be on your right.
20kms along George Grey Drive, turn left into Balline Road, and after approx. 5kms, you'll reach the Ranger Station where you check in and pay your fees....$15/car per night.
There are no amenities at Lucky Bay besides long drop toilets, bins for your rubbish and a dump point for caravan toilets.
You can drive for miles long the beach or in the sand dunes but take care when doing so.

Good video, thanks for sharing. I had this spot picked as most likely being my first stop on a trip up to the Kimberley this year. You have helped convince me.

Glad you liked the video...it was a nice place to stay. When it's a bit less windy, I reckon the fishing would be really good...that's why I'm keen to head back up there again. Good luck with your Kimberley trip.

Thanks Rob. I'm having fun producing the videos but work is getting in the way of me getting out into the bush where I want to be.

Farout changed since I last been up there, about 8 years ago.. There was no camping spots or toilets etc, we used to camp on the beach around where the point is and the little bay. I can remember that hill where you stopped to get onto the beach, that used to be really boggy. Used to catch some nice tailor but bit south about a k or down the beach... It looks so different.. Used to be free as well. Looks like the shire has done it up nice,, nice to see toilets etc there.

I was really impressed with the place....quiet and well spread out. The volunteer caretakers do a great job at keeping the toilets and rubbish bins clean. I reckon the fishing would be really good at certain times.....I can see myself heading back up there to fish.

We had a week camped at Lucky Bay in October 2020. We were with a group of friends and there were a few caravans. The host was a really nice guy and the toilet facilities were second to none. There is no water there but there is a dump point. We took the pleasurable drive to Port Gregory to get more water when we needed it. Highly recommend this lovely place.

I really enjoyed our time at Lucky Bay, even though it was a bit windy. I can see us going back as I hear the fishing is pretty good at certain times of the year.

@@RustysOutbackAdventures We were there during some very windy weather but the fishing spots looked very interesting. Definitely on our 'do again' list.

In my opinion 20 isnt low enough as it was pretty boggy when we went, 15psi low range 2nd was the go for us👍

You're probably right, but maybe 20 is a starting point. I know I've had to go lower in some situations.

Good video, heard so much about Lucky Bay. Would love to go sometime. From where your site is, how far to walk to the beach as unfortunately only have 2WD ute. Again great video of the place, good to see in real time. We both have the same great nickname, Rusty

G'day Rusty. From where we were camped, at the top end of the drive from the ranger station, the beach is only 100m away. Check the video from 9:23 to 10:01....it's only a very short walk, barely 100m. A 2WD would be fine if you're not planning on going past the sign that you see at 8:57 on the video.
