The latest ABC Muster Dogs litter included a special pup with amazing natural instincts only held back by one thing, his deafness. Keen to find him a home where he could thrive, breeders Carolyn and Mick Hudson reached out to the Muster Dogs alumni who offered a very lovely home for this lucky pup.

Frank Finger is an absolute national treasure. He’s a wonderful trainer with empathy and patience. All of the muster dog apprentices can learn from him.

Absolutely deep respect for this man, Frank Finger. After watching this man in the first series, I was so highly impressed by his excellent character. Didn't he also take on the one someone had called Lucifer, from the 1st series? The dog seemed to be a lot of trouble and not heading towards a Mustering career until Frank took him in.@@user-rk3dv6ye6w

Love Frank! My deaf sheepdog was abandoned in a farming area. He was rescued and was up for adoption for 1 month until I arrived to walk some rescued dogs and he was brought to me. It was love at first walk!

I had two deaf Bull Terriers, the other Dogs showed them the way etc. Simple sign language for the most used commands work really well. This beautiful Dog must go to a good home. Full background checks, look at their home etc, all of it. Some people don’t realize how much more you take on with a Pet who is comprised in some way. They are for life. 🐕💗🏡 A very special dog. ❤ Update a sensational home.

The different colored eyes were a give away that he might be deaf. We had a dog the same, 2 different eyes and all white. She was on the way to the Vet to be euthanized when we rang the owner and said we would take her for free as we had bought her brother the week before. After signing documents to say she would be desexed as soon as was possible and that we would not discuss where we got her from we took her home. We taught her a few hand signals but the biggest help was her brother. He would lie down or sit touching her so that if we called him for a treat, for a meal, for a walk she was immediately alerted. Sadly he died relatively young at the age of 8 and she was lost for a while after but soon picked up. She had a wonderful 13 years with us. Good on Frank. He is such a kind man.

It’s wonderful that Lucky had landed with someone as experienced and knowledgeable as Frank who could give him the time and trying he needed to reach his potential. He is living the working life he was born to live and so happy doing what he loves.

Lucky is gorgeous! I've always used hand signs together with verbal commands for my dogs, including my whippet. It was always just a reinforcement, and helpful when I was on the phone, or it was noisy and such. But now she is old and nearly deaf, it is so so so helpful! My now-ex had a deaf dog until shortly before we met. Since they'd use the signs and words together, all the dogs knew both. And as some dogs left us and other ones joined our family, it was just natural to keep using the signs as well. I will always be using them with mine, hearing or not.

that's beautiful. my old chocolate Labrador went deaf in his later years, but we were able to make new sign language & use touch & vibrations to communicate better. it was really hard at first, and he was bitten by a snake twice 😳 which i'm sure was down to his hearing, but we adapted, and it was worth every effort to see him happy and safe for a few more years 💝

I know it’s different from mustering but a friend here in the Cotswolds had an English springer who’s eyes were removed at 5 months. He was one of the best dogs at picking up after the drives.

I was wondering about Lucky went too when the others went to their new homes. I am so happy for lucky. A beautiful dog and a very amazing Australian Frank Finger. Amazing dogs, amazing people - thats what Australia is made of. Loved the tv show. ❤
