You cut out the best part - Tim saying Lucy had to learn the world isn't rainbows and unicorns while the new girl has to learn she's not in the middle of a war anymore.
Lucy is kind and needed to learn to be hard in a stressful environment. Barnes is hardened and needed to learn to be calm in that same environment. Tim is a great teacher.
This shows how well Tim is able to tailor is training style based on the rookie. He doesn't assume that everybody will respond to the same lessons. Awesome. 😊
@Mysterio1412 I think he realized it too. That's why he mentioned to Lucy, even though it isn't seen here, that she needs to know that not everyone is out to kill her like it was in a Combat Zone
Yeah, that line is so funny 😂. I went to buy a new pair of shoes last week, and I remembered this line. Laughing at the sore, but I didn't care about the looks 🤣🤣🤣
Tim was a great T.O. he saw the qualities of people and adjusted the way he trained them Lucy needed to toughen up and Barnes needed someone who was kinder to help her show compassion.
Tim was able to toughen up Lucy but she has never lost her core empathy and kindness. She has even taught Tim to show his softer, more compassionate side....while still being "The Man".
She was jealous but at the same time, she was always seeking Tim's respect, approval and commendation. E.g. As a rookie she volunteered to do her 1st UC or when she wasn't his 1st choice to be his goofer, it hurt her feelings. PS: Initially, I think Tim wanted to pick her to be his goofer since they worked well together and knew each others strengths and weekanesses. He was just concerned about public perception. Also, he enjoyed messing with her, especially after that stunt she pulled with the booties in his locker. But regretted it when he picked Smitty, lol.
Officer Barnes was/is a combat vet from the 101st Airborne. She had trouble reintegration with civilian lifestyle/the police force hence her actions in the clip. Im actually quite sad she left the show I would have loved to see how they handled that story line.
It’s funny when Tim made that face after Lucy said “A month later you stole my duty belt while I had to go pee.” Kind of like saying, “Yeah that was pretty funny.” 😂
The same reason Tim’s so nice to Barnes, Lucy. Tim’s a hardass on you because you’re kind and he’s teaching you how to be hardened. Barnes’s hardness and Tim’s teaching her how to be less hardened.
Tim is the best training officer because of seeing the differences in what each rookie needs and catering to them. Lucy needed to see the world isnt all good people and the other rookie (cant remember her name) needed to see things not as threats all the time because of her military background.
So because it just skipped over the part where he explains why, barnes had just came back from an army tour, tim was also a soldier, he knew she was still in the aoldier mindset and needs to know the world isnt like that where she is its ok to come down from the soldier pedestal back to a normal mindset, to be calm not always on intense, where as lucy had never seen that she needed to know the world will be harsh if she doesn't toughen up her mind, just enough to be alert of the things around her like with the belt, because he believed in her, barnes didnt need more harsh reality, she need comfort and someone to talk her down from soldier to civilian cop
No. He ain't thinkin' about her as a little sister. He may not realize it yet, but he already has a thing for Lucy. He always grins when she outsmsrts him or pranks him. He'll be momentarily pissed off, but then he appreciates her cleverness.
He has his reasons for doing so. Barnes was ex-military so getting her used to civilian missons is critical to prevent her military training from going too far. Lucy is on the opposite end and needs to be prepared mentally for sudden events and to not sit on her laurels.
@summerzchild I watched this episode, but for the life of me, I don't remember what season it occurs in! Then there's a episode of the show, where T.O. Lopez, and her 'boot', Officer West (the 'Legacy'), are called to a fancy Restaurant, to deal with a total SCUZZ-WAD, who tried to skip out on $699.00 dinner, that HE ordered, while leaving the lady who was his dinner date, on the hook to pay for it! I subscribe to HULU, so I've got every season of "The Rookie". I have TRIED to 'scour' episode of the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd seasons looking for the episode, just to see what happens when T.O. Lopez enacts a little "romantic justice". Maybe you can tell me what season(s) I can find the episodes I'm searching for? Thanking you in advance...
This is actually a fantastic trait to look for in someone who is supposed to teach and train others. The knowledge and intelligence and capabilities to realize what someone needs to be able to learn and be able to apply it to each individual thatyou teach. So many are taight using the same blueprint and that is incredibly ineffective.
Context:Barnes had a military background and was hardened. Tim is also from the Military but he had to teach her that the world isn’t always a cruel place where everyone is out to get you unlike Lucy where all she saw was good in the world. He had to show Lucy however things aren’t what they seem.
Those other "issues" is that Barnes is a combat vet. According to The Rookie's wiki, she's 82nd Airborne. Probably why Tim is treating her with kid gloves, as if to say "chill out, you're not in the sandbox anymore."
Context, I believe Officer Barnes was Ex-military, and had spend a lot of time in combat. She couldn't shake it, ended up having to find a different job. Tim tried his best, but like many Vets, reintegrating into civilian life was difficult for her. Just like real life, it wasnt her fault.
Well now she’s got full access to Tim! Her being jealous was just hinting to her having feelings for Tim, tho she tricked Tim when she said it but it turned out to be true and she was just playing with herself lol to mess with Tim 😂
@@summerzchild Did the series get over or is it still going on? Also how many seasons and how many episodes? And lastly how many hours in total? Thank you for responding......🍻
The clip left out Tim's approach to training lecturing Lucy for making assumptions. Tim taking a different approach in training others based on their past background is a good quality to have.
"Is she going to be all right?" Line that got cut from Lucy after she found out why Tim was training his new Rookie differently. Shows that despite the jealousy, she still has a big heart.
I love Tim he's a really good cop and a really good Mentor he knows exactly what to do if he's in a situation Barnes is a sweet loving lady but she was in the military so she understands how it is and she thinks in her mind people are still after her 😢
