Bob, where do you start?!! No brainer: perfect, flawless vocals on EVERY performance! If you notice, when she actually sings the word, 'Hallelujah', she either looks away from the camera, either upper-left or upper-right, by design! Remember, she is also an actress with her musical, "Rosie", plus her performing about 12 songs, most of them will be solo performances! Lucy Thomas is the best solo performer I have ever heard or seen, no question here!
Thanks Bob for your reaction. You know sometimes when Lucy goes into her head voice you can almost see sparkles above her head. She is just amazing. Thanks for the review and for supporting Lucy.
Around 34 million views so far with this song from the magnificent Lucy Thomas!,there is a magic to Lucy which i dont really understand, love this girl, cant wait to see her in concert, evergreen is her latest recording, not a great favourite of mine, until Lucy sang it!,how does she do it?, there are a number of great young vocalists out there, inc Charlotte Summers that i have just come across!, but i always go back to Lucy, she is touched with Stardust!💖✨️
Loved watch your joy as she goes on in this song, making it her own in the most wonderful way. I fully agree this to be the best version I know of. She is extremely good. I have yet to hear any song from her not beeing great.
Nice to see Lucy Thomas has taken space on your wall of fame greats with the likes of Pink Floyd. 📀 I didn’t like the boring song before Lucy’s version either. Lucy’s turned flat tap water into bubbling Champagne. 🍾🙂
Great reaction. Her version of Over the rainbow is just beautiful. I recommend .. A Brand New Day. Her eye contact is unreal. She is one in a million. Just love her. ❤
Loved your honest and thoughtful reaction to Lucy's version of the song. You are not the only one who has battled to define her majesty in song. Your approach is refreshing.
Beautiful!! What a bright sound to start the day, I'm sure a highlight. Play any and all of this stars music. Even her tribute to Eva Cassidy, Over The Rainbow. Thank you, and a good day to you and yours.🤠
I am actually a Leonard Cohen fan and I've always liked the song. I think it's a masterpiece. And Jeff Buckley does a very interesting version of it and of course I love how KD Lang delivers it - she even did a performance of it at the Olympics. I first heard this Lucy version last year at some point, and it just absolutely blows me away. I'm sure I've probably seen it at least 50 times and it never gets old to me.
Great reaction and critique. I’d go so far as to say that Lucy’s cover of Hallelujah is the most beautiful thing I’ve heard in my 70 plus years. I have listened to it dozens of times and it gives me chills every time. It is absolute perfection.
Like you ,I did not love this song in particular and Leonard Cohen in general. Everytime I listened to him , I thought: who is going to fell asleep first, me or him? Then I eared that she will do a cover of a Leonard Cohen song...I said to myself.... She cannot fix a song from this guy... And , then, I listened to her , and I liked every second of the song , every frame of the video. We are not the onlyones to love this performance. Until now , this is her biggest RU-vid success : 34 millions views and counting....❤🤗🥰👍
Yeah, Bob, Lucy is 'that' good! She has been professionally and classically trained over the past 12 years by her vocal coach, Carolyn Hudson (as far as I know she still is) so Lucy has done thousands of hours of vocal training to go with DNA that gives her vocals the hauntingly, mesmerizing, energy to bring you right into her musical realm........she taps right into your heart & soul......the 'magic' of Lucy Thomas
Hi Bob great reaction .Glad you have reacted to another Lucy Thomas song ,I was getting withdrawal symptoms. This is one of Lucy´s most viewed songs its around 59million .It has been said that it is the most beautiful version ever. It has been used in the Denis Quaid film "On a wing and a prayer" Lucy was 16 when she sang this. Her voice now is so much more mature and richer. Lucy has just finished her education so is now concentrating full time on her music. As you may know Lucy is starring in a musical opening in London´s West end next year. Chris Broom .Award winning songwriter ,producer and owner of Cavendish records the Label Lucy is under Has written this musical "Rosie" for Lucy to play the lead He said he has held it up as Lucy was unavailable to begin working on it until this year. She has pre released a number of the originals there are more to come. By the way Lucy´s version of Over the Rainbow was an Eva Cassidy Tribute it has been well received .However If you don´t like the song you don´t like the song. I know I have mentioned it before .Her Latest song is an Original and the theme to a new TV series ."A brand new day" I don´t know if you have listened to it yet but it definitely worth it .Always glad to hear your thoughts on Lucy as they are like mine. One Last thing .Chris Broom said He asked a friend to introduce him to Lucy when she was 13 He said he realised immediately that she had the potential to become one of the greatest vocalists of all time and that she had the rare ability to bring the audience into the song he immediatly asked her to sing one of his songs "One day" it is on her premier album. And he has mentored her ever since . Some people may not like Lucy´s type of songs But you can´t deny her beautiful pure controlled voice. I am subscribed to your channel so I keep watching for Lucy reactions .
Thanks Bob for another Lucy reaction. No one compares to Lucy… her singing is flawless on every song she sings, and she draws you in emotionally. You’re not alone… anyone who hears this song has commented that it’s the best version ever! Absolutely love ❤️ Lucy - more Lucy please!
Hey Bob, We would love to see your reaction to Lucy performing her latest release, ‘Evergreen’, love theme from “A Star is Born” You will not be disappointed 😊
Hi Bob Lucy Thomas just released her take on ‘Evergreen’ it has 59000 views, 6200 likes and 1400 comments it also has the longest note I’ve heard Lucy sing at 14 seconds ( yes i timed it) please give us your reaction!
Hi Bob thought you would like to know that you have been mentioned on Lucy´s Fan Club ,as one of the good reaction channels especially your comments on Lucy.🤩🤩
Amazing Lucy has it all, from crystalline delicacy to controlled power. The level of her talent puts me in mind of the superb Hayley Westenra, who was stunning as a teenager and has crafted a notable international career since. Hopefully Lucy can go beyond RU-vid popularity to do the same.
Yes, Lucy is going beyond RU-vid. Lucy has produced 4 marketed CD's so far and has been co-writing / co-producing a musical production called "Rosie" with Chris Broom of Cavendish Records in England. She will be starring in it at London's West End Theatre sometime during 2024. I believe the "Rosie" performance next year will rocket her to worldwide fame and stardom, with probably even Broadway and Hollywood, maybe Disney, clamoring for her.
Bob, this song is where I discovered Lucy. The jump up an octave, where the original went down, could have been done to keep from reaching too low, or just an artistic choice. But whatever the reason you are correct that it jumped up to a very very pleasant and beautiful range in her voice. Then there's that fantastic vibrato that trails off the end of the verses (perfectly undulating, and right on key). That's where the chills start for me. Her breath control is also amazing. Many times she blows right past where one would normally take a breath, then takes a breath and continues with more amazing music. Finally, you mentioned what I describe as bringing us back down to earth when she resorts to the light and pleasing final notes. She does that a lot. Sometimes that final decrescendo for some reason just grabs me. These kinds of thought go through my head every time I hear Lucy. O.K., encyclopedia over. BTW Bob, I lived in a western suburb of Chicago for 8 years.
Hi ya Bob - I watched your reaction to Evergreen a little earlier today. I have also heard this song many times, but I think Lucy's versions is the best of all current and preceding artists. I said it earlier, but I'll say it again - I love your reactions to Lucy's performances. Thank you for your super support for this incredible talent. Stay safe and healthy!
Hey Bruce. Thanks so much for your kind words. I actually question myself a bit on these videos. I look back at them and often feel that I should have thought of more and/or better things to say. Too late though since I already heard the song. Anyway, I'm really glad you enjoy some of my reactions. I really appreciate it!
It’s not you, it’s just that good. Best version I’ve heard. Can’t imagine anyone topping it. And the fact she was 16 when she recorded this is insane. Truly a prodigy.
This was just brilliant from Lucy. She never fails to deliver. Okay you don't like "Over the rainbow" but you didn't like Hallelujah either. Lucy's rendition of "Rainbow" it pretty remarkable. Her version is along the same lines as Ava Cassidy's but with the Lucy touch. You won't be disappointed. As I said, you weren't keen on Hallelujah until you heard Lucy's rendition. Keep up the interesting reactions. Thanks.
With 44 million views on RU-vid, a lot people were also amazed at Lucy's rendition of this song, even the producers of Dennis Quaid's movie "A wing and a prayer" used Lucy's version for the film. Lucy is a musical genius now but was just so amazing even at sixteen when she recorded this song. As I've said previously, nice reaction, even if you didn't like the song.
LOL. There's a long list of songs that I've reacted to where I don't really like the song, but the singer/artist completely won me over. That says so much about them.
Bob, you may not have liked this song but you were drawn in right from the start. Shaking your head, closing eyes to really listen then an exclamation at the end of the first verse showed you were hooked.
Do you know Lucy also sings your preferred version of 'Over The Rainbow'? 🌈 Lucy as always sings it brilliantly, but to be honest I prefer the old traditional version and walk the yellow brick road.
I would have never guessed that the album cover next to the Quisp box means you're a big Lucy Thomas fan. Whoda thunk? It's remarkable that you can find two versions of this that you like...after all, the original by Leonard Cohen is a song whose taste I have yet to acquire.
What a wonderful take on one of my favorite songs. She certainly made it her own. You may recall that I was the first to encourage you discover Eva Cassidy. You overcame your reluctance to do so and her voice and artistry were your rewards. If I may be so bold as to offer another suggestion. You may know the music of KD Lang, a favorite of mine for decades. Her performances of Hallelujah are among the best out there. Check out a live performance at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P_NpxTWbovE.html&ab_channel=oneandonlyck. You will be entranced. Best wishes.
BEST VERSION OF OVER THE RAIN BOW IS BY MARTINA MCBRIDE ....... CHECK OUT THE ALBUM COVER WITH JUST HALF HER FACE WITH YELLOW BACK GROUND .... THE NAME OF ALBUM IS CALL...... MARTINA ....... GET READY TO GET BLOWEN AWAY
I've never liked this song either (and still don't), but for different reasons. The word "Hallelujah" means "Praise the Lord" or "Praise Yahweh." The storyline of the song has absolutely nothing to do with praising and worshiping the Lord. Also, the lyrics totally twist and convolute the two separate Biblical accounts of David & Bathsheba and Samson & Delilah. As an evangelical Christian, that obvious discrepancy is very irritating and ridiculous to me. Of all people, a Jewish songwriter, Leonard Cohen, should have known better if he knew anything at all about the Old Testament. However, all that being said about the song itself, in the four years I've followed the life and artistry of Lucy Thomas (and sister Martha), I must say that I love and adore Lucy as the wonderful, humble, sweet-souled human being that she is and for her exquisite, extraordinarily beautiful artistry both vocally and as an up-and-coming stage actress. She is simply unique and outstanding! May God always bless and guide her in her life's choices!
Hi John. That was interesting to read. I appreciate you taking the time to explain all of that. I'm not sure I'll ever acquire a taste for the Leonard Cohen version of the song. It just doesn't go anywhere. Thanks again.
