This is the route that used to take me home from the Railway Station to Neem Wala Chowk. What happened to the Technical School that used to be at the spot where JMD Mall is? The open space (before 1947) in front of the mall was BAKKAR MANDI (now Lakshmi Cinema). The Lakkad Bazaar used to be a Timber market where big tree logs were shaved and cut to useable beams of wood. My mother used to buy saw dust for kitchen fuel. At the corner of Mochpura Chowk was a Dhaba and the rest of Mochpura was Muslim residential area. The temple, in front of the Subhani Builidng, was the vanue where weekly wrestling matches were held. The other end (where you ended your walk) of Mochpura was known as TAKKIYA GUJRANWALA CHOWK. It was famous for tin buckets and trunks. There used to be a famous barber shop at the corner; they came from UP and their son Ram Lal was my contemporary and he wanted to be an actor. He once ran away to Bombay but came back broke. Thank you, Dr. Shripaul Ji
