My cover of Ancora by Ludovico Einaudi from his album Una Mattina.
I recorded the sound separately and directly to my laptop and used Corel Video Studio to pair the video and sound together. Apologies if I haven't lined this up quite right but at least the final sound should be of better quality than recording using the camera's mic. The piano is a Roland FP7-f.
*Please note, I have bought the music sheets to play this piece in the key of Am (mostly white notes). However, I have used the transpose function of the piano to play in the right key (as it was written). That explains why it looks like I am playing on the wrong notes. This wasn't to make it easier as some keen observers have noticed and commented on! :) I bought the sheets in that key so I could mix Ancora more easily with pieces like Divenire and Un'Altra Vita when I didn't have the transpose function working. The motivation for doing this was Einaudi's performance at the Piazzo Te Mantova. The video can be watched here:

Thanks for make a few mistakes, otherwise I was about to think you were faking, because the first minutes sounds exactly like Ludovico's performance. Best performance I've ever heard for Ancora. Congratulations.

Yea I've discussed this in earlier comments. Your absolutely right and I am unsure if many people notice! I bought the music in this key because I wanted to mix Ancora with many of Einaudi's other pieces in this key such as Divenire and Un'Altra Vita. The motive behind that was because I think Einaudi mixed Divenire with Ancora on the video Divenire live at Mantova which I love! Check the link which I have added to the Video description! Hope I'm not seen as a cheater now after explaining!

Das ist PERFEKT! I won't hide my inspiration from you as it's my goal to finally play Ancora and record it on video. I'm still far from your level though. But I'd get it and I hope I can learn it as fast ASAP.

:) I said in the description I had made a few mistakes! That isn't the only one so have another listen! Thank you for saying that it is the best on yt but I am sure there are loads of people out there who can play Einaudi better than me. What sort of settings do you wish to know?

@1bobo1 Thank you very much! Its a Roland FP-7F. Its the newer model of the FP-7. Basically it has a few extras which the Roland FP-4F doesn't have but I was told the FP series are the Roland's to go for if you are looking for the most natural piano sound. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

lol I get really self consious but how stupid I probably look doing that. it is funny to think it is a natural thing but it is easier to post a video online for people to listen to than play on front of people live. i can never get fully into it in when I do that. Sorry its a bit faster than you would like but being so long already you can see that I also cut out the end a bit! Thanks for commenting :)

you'll be pleased to know that I dont. Just that I imagined that you were probably italian or something when I first watched your video so I was curious to know lol! From watching your other vids I can see you are an Einaudi fan just as I am. Do you buy the sheet music or have you managed to find any of them online for free because there are so many more of his songs I have on my list to learn. :)

Yea I could have played it a half tone down without using transpose and some people may still not have noticed. I didn't use transpose to trick people (as my description now openly admits) but simply because I wanted it to sound like to the original even if it wasn't played like the original. As you can see from my videos, I play a lot of Einaudi in different keys so learning it in the correct key wouldn't have been a problem. Unfortunately, I'm not good enough to change it without practice! :)

The key of the original piece is what you hear on my video but using "transpose" on my piano I am able to play different notes (just in case that is what is confusing you). The sound quality is recorded directly to my laptop onto software called "Audacity" which is available online for free. The piano is connected to my laptop using wiring. How you do this on your own piano will depend on what oulet ports your piano has. Hit me back with info if you want more help! Thanks

Now that's a comment! Thanks for taking the time to share a bit. I had a listen to that track you suggested and that is definately my kind of thing. Unfortunately, without sheet music, I think I would do a very poor cover.The tune itself, is also helped by the musical backing which can make a cover lack some depth. Most of the time,I just cover Einaudi, so in that way I am not that great a pianist when I am so limited! I do know Ora too though and it is my wish to cover those tunes of his I know

I don't have them in a form I could send but if you are a beginner you would need to check with your tutor to make sure you don't buy something that is too advance! Best of luck and keep going. Oh ok. I think I had the lid fully open because the "supernatural" setting I found sounds quite soft. I didn't really play around with the other settings too much before I recorded it straight to my laptop (rather than the camera's microphone). There's always a bit of change of sound in that way anyway I would think.

Keep practicing and you will open a whole world of tunes that you will be able to play! Even I am not at that level as I can only play a few Einaudi. When it comes to this piece try and master the pattern the left hand plays over and over. also break it down into parts. The part were is slows up towards the end is a good place to start! Relief! :) Thats not the first time I have been described as Italian (amongst others like Spanish and Jewish!) Yea I have bought the sheet music in all cases, mostly online but I do have two of his music books - Einaudi collection and Nightbook, which I got from the local shop. I have bought them one at a time to learn each one individually.

@Roxann308 I guess I will forgive "another" comment given the fact they are made up from so many kind words. As for 'special qualities', I don't think my abilities can be seen as too deep. Einaudi leaves a real impression on me, which is why i cannot get enough of his work but I guess that makes my tastes and indeed my playing to be very limited.

Yes but do you not notice my video sounds the same as other Ancora videos - it isn't lower or higher. I have transposed it which is why I am playing on different notes but you will find it is still the same key. I think you are confusing the terminology :) I hope I have made better sense now!

@GameGlitcher94 Cheers thanks for such a nice comment! To be fair, mine has its mistakes but I totally agree with what you said in your video - Einaudi's music is for interpreting in your own way. For the most part I'm not a good enough player to deviate from the sheet music so well done to yourself!

Good guess but unfortunately its learnt staight from the sheet music. The piano key has been transposed to sound like it is in the correct key but in actual fact I'm playing it lower. But good effort on your part! ;)

Not wrong notes.....wrong keys! Though to be confusing, it is in the right key, I just tranposed it so I could mix it with a lot of Einaudi's pieces in Am.

its funny, i´ve seen you play it in Am, and not in Bbm. cause, i´m playing it in Bbm. I´ve tried it, too. its really, really easier. :) nice thing. and I saw it at first not, that you´ve explained this in your description. That really makes a sense, the only reason, I've said those words(and I really didn't want to be rude), is that I feel a bit uncomfortable, seeing how you start from an unproper notes, as I'm playing it half tone up, as it is in original sheets. But the fact is that it really doesn't bother most of the listeners, so your perfomance still remains a high class thing. cheers :)

I can see why you have chosen to cover mainly Einaudi, his compositions are stunning and once again thank you for the cover it was note perfect and beautifully played. You have definitely done this one justice mate, best cover of this song so far on youtube, kudos for this. You've actually played it properly and have managed to capture the essence of this song I think! Well done, I may upload a cover of my own so be on the lookout for that! I must say though, this is one of Einaudi's better works, yet it doesn't get enough attention!

really nice and sensitive perfomance, but you turned down you synth half tone down to play more on a white keyboards, and I think that's kind of cheating :) anyway "like" for playing it
