Magpie finds Ludwig has come to Stay & Play.
A Bizarre ovoid jewel or egg like object from which devices emerge e.g. helicopter rotor arms, legs, wings etc. These sundry gadgets are used to aid unfortunate small animals which live in the same forest, under the binocular gaze of an anonymous, deer stalker clad observer...all to the accompaniment of an early Beethoven scherzo!
Brilliant, strange paranoid, wonderful. Whatever happened to this sort of imagination in "kids" programmes? 1977

I was born in 72 and loved watching this, i thought it was stock motion with models and not a cartoon but then we did have alot of great things to watch, bagpuss, ivor the engine, the clangers what a fab time.

I remember this cartoon when it was on the Captain Kangaroo show. Great classic find. We need educated shows like this in our modern world when there's no extremely social media. Just pure clean cartoon fun.

Remember seeing this when I was about 16. A few of us at school would talk about it the next day. Most of my classmates didn't understand what the hell was going on. It was certainly unique and not to everyone's taste. Needless to say, I loved it.

A nice way to indrouduce children to classical music (I have always liked it anyway due to fantasia and my grandma playing tapes and records of it.

Oh bliss and rapture! I've been hunting for this for years! This is my first TV memory! As a child of the 70s. In 1977 I would have been 4 years old. It was the first time I heard classical music. It started a life long passion with classical music. As well as a life long love affair with Beethoven!

I found this mentioned in an article about kids' shows in the 1980s that were really scary or bizarre, when I was looking for a show, something like either 'That's Incredible' or 'Ripley's Believe It Or Not,' which had a story about a crystal skull that gave people nightmares if they slept in the same room with it. I haven't been able to find out what that show was, but it terrified me for a lifetime. Now, in that article, I saw this 'Ludwig' thing, and when I went to watch it, it seemed totally familiar, as though I had completely memorized every single second, of every single event that occurred, and I wasn't consciously aware of this AT ALL. I was born in 1974, so if this was 1977, I had to be only three years old if I saw it. If it was on at the same time as Simon and the chalk drawings, as another commenter said, I do remember that show, but had no conscious memory of this until now. It was so completely and permanently burned into my brain, every single detail.

I seriously laughed when you said "give me regular show." You think a show like that will help your kids more than a show like this? Regular show isn't a show that i'd consider offencive or 'bad' but this show is about things kids should be learning about. Regular show is about strange, unrealistic things that literaly came from the idea of drugs (search for 2 in the AM PM.) It just amuses me that you think something like that is better for teaching kids than this!
