If you have wood hoops you can neatly cut out a half moon out of the hoop so your chain doesn’t rub but don’t cut too deep to compromise the hoops strength.
Yes, another great option. I’d hate to do something permanent before exploring another alternative, but I would totally do it if I was gigging on a kit like this.
I just started playing my girlfriend’s kit and I love it. I bought all new heads, top and bottom along with an Aquarian bass drum head an d it totally transformed it. Great kit
I have the Gibraltar kick riser and use it on both a 20" and 18" bass drum with no issues. It looks similar if not exactly like the one you are showing here.... In any case... great solution to what could be a big issue. Thx
I just bought one of these for my Pearl Master's Bop Jazz kit and when I attached it, it tilted my bass drum forward to an awkward degree that I couldn't seem to rectify by adjusting the legs (which were already fully extended). The bass drum tilting forward like it was resulted in the heel of my pedal floating in the air lol. This damn jazz kit has been more trouble than it's worth and I miss my old beater kit :(
I mostly play with an 18” bass drum, but I’ve never used a lift with one. I like having the kick on the ground, but with a 16” you sort of have too. If I were you I’d just leave it on the ground, you probably have enough clearance with the beater to still get near the center of the head if that’s where you want it.
@@malonedrum I'm hitting about 3 inches off center. I tried adjusting my beaters but that messed with the feel of their swing. I've never tried adding weights to my beaters but do you think that would help account for them being shorter?
@@shawnhilliard I’m not sure, never used weights on my beater. I just try to adapt to my pedal the way it feels honestly. Not super invested in the set up outside of where it strikes the head.
Typically that would mean your pedal is too far away from the head. Every pedal is a bit different, so it's hard to say whether it can be adjusted, but check how far back it's mounted compared to the head and see if you can move it closer?
@@malonedrum I really like it, it's my working kit for almost two years. Lightweight and small. Sound is very nice for the sizes. Only issue was that I got some big wrinkles on the wrap finish. It can't be exposed directly to the Sun.
I imagine there are certain pedals on the market that work fine with the bracket as distributed, but for me, a number of pedals did not work with it, so not just like one outlier.
