Come on, we all know it won't be the same. The best part about the channels was MatPat's personality, we all know that the shorts with that other guy weren't anywhere as interesting as Mat's. As much as I hate to say this, MatPat leaving is probably going to ruin the channels for a lot of people.

If MatPat decided they're good enough to be hosts then most likely he'd be correct, especially with the way he handled it, since it's not like they're coming out of nowhere. They're regulars in the videos for anyone that's been watching for how long now. Yes quite a few fans may decide that they dont want to watch the channels anymore but it's very unlikely that the channel will suffer in the end. Or at least for a long time period.

I fear that too. And we've seen the same happen to big TV shows, too. Mythbusters and Top Gear are great examples of that. To me, MatPat is GameTheory, even though he claims it's not. If you got used to a voice and a certain style of rhetoric, it's gonna take a while for me to get used to somethign entirely new. So imma be honest: I don't know if I'll keep watching. I'm terrible with big changes like that.

Fr my brethren. I grew up in a country that didn't have Bluesclues, so I never watched the show. But I respect Steve's goodbye message. There are lots of people who grew up with him. He's their childhood. So I don't get the people who had to go as far as to comment on how they think Matt's goodbye is fake or cringy. Like, if you don't think it's sincere, then shut up and let the people who don't think so grieve properly.

One thing I've learned in my like... 14 years of RU-vid by this point is that yes. Things are done for the camera and things have to be a certain way in front of the camera because the alternative is much too subpar either for optimization and performance or for market appeal. But people forget that these creators love what they do. They love the community that it's brought to them. Sure. In the past 6 or so years, it's easy to become jaded because of how so many con-artists have come to the platform to try and develop a very thorough but ultimately inauthentic connection with an audience. But it's easy to forgot that some creators have valued the community and the people that watch them for as long as they have done unto him. What's Mat got to worry about anyway? Is he worried about the money? He would've sold the theorist franchise 5 years ago and made a much sappier goodbye video if he wanted to cash in. But no, he loved what he did and he loved that there were people who recognized the hard work he and Steph and the rest of the theorist crew have put out. These people love what they do, but that doesn't mean they're absolved from fatigue or a desire to want to do other things. It's honestly even worse to go "Cringe. It's all fake" when it's literally a goodbye video. For all he knows, the entire channel and his entire business is going to tank right after the goodbye. I know it won't, but that's the kind of thing that you'd only worry about if you knew the fanbase didn't value him enough and trust him enough. But we trust him. Many of us won't watch the videos (I will though), but most of us will acknowledge what he has left behind and the kind of great things he's cultivated in his presence. For him to exclusively go "I'm going. But I don't care" simply does nothing because, hey. As was said in the video: saying goodbye is literally harder than just continuing to cash in on the same thing over and over. But when you have to say goodbye, even if the tears fall, then it's goodbye.

I 100% agree most of the comments are most likely people who don't know him or legit have 0 emotions for others I just wish Lud would've said something instead of just letting his chat do that kinda shows what kind of audience he has@@hamingnu6610

I agree. It really blew my expectations, honestly. I was a bit worried as to how it'd be received, but man. He made just the right first videos to prove to people that this was something that they could do and that they could continue. It's clear they put a lot of time to really be meticulous about the feasibility of a channel so it shouldn't surprise any of us, but still. With so many people who fail at making a new venture sometimes, it kind of astounds you to remember that there ARE people who are good enough at what they do that they just know what will work and what won't. I mean for crying out loud he used to be the person that creators went to in DEFY/Break to know what they should or shouldn't do based on statistical trends on RU-vid. He knows what's going to be right and what's going to be wrong.
