Es besteht für mich kein Zweifel, Beethovens 6. Symphonie ist großartig. Sehr schöne, eingängige Musik. Was ich an diesem Video besonders schätze, ist, daß Herr Blomstedt einfach nur dirigiert. So manche Dirigenten meinen eine „großartige“ Choreographie aufführen zu müssen, was ich als störend bis lächerlich empfinde. Für mich ist so wohltuend, daß Herr Blomstedt einfach „nur“ dirigiert.

Die „Vogelstelle“ mit Nachtigall (Flöte), Wachtel (Oboe) und Kuckuck (Klarinette) im zweiten Satz ist einfach immer wieder wunderhübsch anzuhören (und hier auch anzusehen!). Sie beginnt bei 22:57. Beethoven selber bezeichnete die Stimmen mit Vogelarten und schrieb für den Notenkopisten darunter: „Nb: schreiben sie das Wort Nachtigall, Wachtel, Kuckuck in die erste Flöte, in die erste Oboe, in die erste und zweite Clarinett, gerade wie hier in der Partitur“.

I believe that it´s one of the greatest masterpice of art´s history. Surely it demanded a huge level of inspiration and hard work to a man going to deafeness

It's more amazing than that. When Beethoven premiered it, he opened the concert with it.... and then also premiered his 4th Piano Concerto... and after the intermission, he premiered his 5th symphony! And there was even more music in that 4 hour concert... and finally it ended with his premiere of the Choral Fantasy!
