This concerto is FULL of Unresolved emotions. I don’t even think Reger understood what he was composing. It just seems like an ENDLESS road and no where to go.
Exceptional document that shows us the art of a great pianist. Perhaps Backhaus's best video, on the eve of his eighty-fifth birthday and a few months before his death. It seems to have been recorded in his home in Salzburg; is that so? Thank you for sharing it.
First piece us probably why people say liszt was flashy or gaudy but he wasn't at all. Nice Bechstein piano BTW makes a change from steinway bosendorfer fazioli and yamaha Even bluthner
Absolute divine, fun, outstanding pianism. An incredible artist the enjoyment of whom was marred by his, sincerely shocking and appalling, association with the scam known as the Church of Scientology.
I first heard a recording of this masterpiece by Paul Hindemith over 60 years ago and have loved it ever since. This video is absolutely fabulous and a great treasure for all of us. Lorin Maazel leads a superb ensemble of first rate musicians. The whole video is first rate!! Bravo!!
WOW! Where did you find this? I've been looking so long and hard for Backhaus video recordings, but there are so few: the two Beethoven concerto recordings, the fragment of the Brahms concerto, the silent film of the Chopin etudes, and now this. There has to be more out there. Thanks!
Oh he is amongst the connaisseurs. Don't forget also that most people's attention span doesn't allow them to listen to songs that last more than 2min30 with more than 3 notes in the melody.
