Could you IMAGINE going to see this gorgeous music played by these amazing musicians? Being able to see, in addition to the excellence of the Berlin Philharmonic, *Itzhak Perlman, Yo-yo Ma and Daniel Barenboim?* That is a very lucky audience indeed.
Sorry to be so off topic but does any of you know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost my account password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
It always moves me and makes me deeply happy that I live in Germany with a unique orchestral landscape of 110 professional orchestras and a soooo rich musical culture. And that YT - whatever you think of it - gives us all access to these musical pearls, completely democratic and determined in the spirit of Beethoven. And thanks to all the musicians who, at this level, put their entire lives in the service of music for the joy and healing of all of us.
How lucky we are at this point in time when we can listen to the quality of the interpreters anytime we want, thank to the technology available today, thinking of the Beethoven era when this was the privilege of the selected few.
This is the Greatest Performance , and Summit Meeting Ever assembled for these 2 Great Beethoven Compositions !!The Very privileged audience knew they were hearing History in the making !!!..
Barenboim, world’s greatest interpreter of Beethoven AND world class pianist AND world class conductor AND world class expert on Beethoven. What a gift from God
@18:34 Yo Yo Ma interpretation makes me reach heaven each time I hear this. I can't get enough of this melody. One of the most amazing and beautiful melody ever written.
He’s not my favorite cellist, and is behind several others, but the subjectivity of the art is what makes it so fascinating and wonderful! That way, many brilliant musicians can make a living and we get to have a wide choice! In the late ‘60s, Christopher Nupen (Allegro Films) managed to make a film of Barenboim, Perlman, Jacqueline Du Pre, Pinchas Zukerman (viola) and Zubin Mehta (bass) as they rehearsed and performed Schubert’s “Trout Quintet” with the English Chamber Orchestra, which is still _PHENOMINAL!!_ I’d already loved Du Pre’s playing and mourned her tragic early death before I saw the film, but that cemented her as my favorite cellist. Why I’m cold to Ma is a mystery to me….as a classically trained musician myself, I can surely appreciate his art, but that’s as far as it goes. Weird, huh?
I cannot say how much feeling I have for Itzhak Perlman’s pure artistry and positivity, a brilliant, cheerful man who loves to joke but is not fooled by anyone or anything, and has such an appetite for music and fellowship, who adores his wife and kids, who has made a monumental career despite obvious drawbacks which would easily bury another, less resilient, artist. He is a man who rises to the occasion, who grabs life by the throat in the most positive sense imaginable, and is the King of turning lemons into lemonade and notes on the page into some of the most gorgeous sounds ever heard. Perlman seems to pour it all from his overflowing mind and heart into his unforgettable music, with such generosity of spirit that there’s no room for ego, and I love all of it! (The other men are amazing, too, especially Barenboim, but it’s the fiddler’s turn today!)
Among Beethoven's masterpieces from heaven, this song is also a great one. The perfect harmony between the three of you is very touching and comforting.
Inspiring, and sublime are words one can use, but the German word 'namenlose' comes to my mind: I did not spell it with all the proper German punctuation, but it conveys an expression we attempt to put words to, which only the Music itself and the Minds that embrace it can express: as it is 'Nameless'
Tre giganti, tre leggende,mi regalano emozioni irripetibili, forti, indimenticabili.
A celebration of music, a celebration of beauty, a celebration of the gifts that man received from his Creator. A tribute to the genius composer and the artists who performed those works. Well done!
Salvador. Ba
Well, Thank you for “ Commenting “! Interestingly, Beethoven’s Creations do that….I discovered “Beethoven Concerts, music, in 1966, at PURDUE UNIVERSITY, West Lafayette Indiana USA ….
Just to see those three great men set foot on stage moves me! If only our beloved maestro Beethoven himself could have sat in the audience for this masterful performance of his glorious work!
He would had liked to play the piano himself, doing something instead of sitting in the audience and getting disturbed only for autographs and photographs.
I have been listening to this for 40 years and it remains one of my favorite works, in spite of some critics calling it one of Beethoven's inferior works
It might not be one of Beethoven´s supreme works but nevertheless it is a really great masterpiece and this particular concert is a GREAT performance and a supreme joy to behold.
If you meant the Choral Fantasy, I agree. It is powerful. It also disproves the idea that Beethoven's compositions are mostly great because of their brilliant construction. I believe It was his musical ideas presented with his forceful confident persona that make his works as effective as they are.
Yo-Yo Ma is phenomenal. As is everyone in this performance, but Yo-Yo is a superb musical conversationalist. He watches his colleagues almost every moment (hardly ever looking at his own instrument) so as to respond to every nuance as they play. To me, he is a marvel of a musician. Yitzhak and Daniel are great too, but it's as though Yo-Yo Ma is looking after them. What a wonderful performance of the Triple Concerto! Thank you for the upload.
What a wonderful gift to listen to this GORGEOUS, MAGNIFICENT CONCERT, AMAZING INTERPRETATION OF THESE ORCHESTRA AND ITS MUSICIANS, I AM SO GRATEFUL, THANKS FOR POSTING! BLESSINGS!
Can't stop listening to this bunch of sublime humans give their entire selves to interpret the divine gift to humanity that's Beethoven's music. It uplifts the soul and the spirit like absolutely nothing else. Beautiful stuff everyone, bravo, and eternally grateful to all of you. 💖💞❣️
Gracias , gracias, gracias…. A todos !!
Beethoven, My favorite composer with my 3 top performers. I listened to this concerto for over 55 years more then honderds of times. There is nothing betters ever written. Thanks for posting!
Echoing- I'm so glad to find this- all the comments are recent, so maybe it's getting noticed. It's an incredible piece of music, and the three of them are so together with each other! Ma is in love with the others, and with the world. The performance had me rocking with the music.
Of course! A Triple Concerto is not often performed, because it needs such great musicians as Itzhak Perlman, Daniel Barenboim and Yo-Yo Ma. That explains why I've never heard this piece. Thanks for posting!
What's not to like,,, The three greatest collaborators on the planet. Barenboim IMO is at the top of the list as greatest living musician, his piano playing and superb conducting. Ma and Perlman, the very definition of virtuosity.
Greetings from Canada! We are SO LUCKY to be able to see this exquisite performance by the amazing soloists, playing so precisely together as if they had played this piece 1000 times! Thank you - this is a "favourite"!
Absolutely brilliant!!! The air must have been sparkling from such a gathering of incredible talent and passion. Plus, whoever said this was an inferior work of Beethoven was just extremely jealous of such genius!
I think you mean Lyn Harrell, because he did purchase Du Pre’s Strad. I have to say I would so much rather hear her play than either Harrell or Ma, although I love Harrell’s playing and especially his chamber music CDs with Vladimir Ashkenazy and Perlman. I’ve never been a fan of Ma’s playing, though I certainly respect his artistry. In the arts as in many other things, the brain likes what it likes!
This is simply the best there is!!!!!! Enjoy !!!!! If I were to be marooned on a lonely island, like Robinson Crusoe, the only music I would take with me is Beethoven's Triple Concerto !!!!!!!!
I am sorry the camera operator keeps going in so close. I think what I want to see is how the soloists work together as a trio rather than what each individual is doing. But a wonderful performance nonetheless and wonderful to have this available.
