In One Piece Episodes 44 and 45 we have some ship adventures and learn Luffy's first bounty! On to Loguetown we go! Let us know how you felt about the episodes in the comments #onepiece #reaction #anime
Gran D. Ma asking the big question right out the gate, a fair question i might add. i imagine that she will eventually understand as she watches the show.
Usopp does get a lot better over time, and you learn to respect and laugh at his cowardice. He's the straight man in the comedy because he is 'normal', even if he has inhuman durability. Dude's always negative, but he still fights on despite his fears. That's why people can like him. His dumb songs and his pride? Yeah, those are part of his idiot charm. He's much better when he becomes an older brother to Chopper.
I mean, yeah - I know why people like him Still disagree guy sucks, and all of his bits requiring him to find his nuts drag on and often put other people in situations that are annoying, not funny I’ll keep it real I was warming up to him a bit until all of his bits post time skip ran the same course especially Dressrosa, I’m going to have to be mute during those episodes as to not spew straight up hate lmao
@@GRANIME To be fair, I feel ya on his lack of development and growth in the anime, and I think a large part of that is needing to keep Usopp's character consistent enough that he can keep pulling off 'the joke'. I was expecting Usoppun to be a lot stronger mentally after his time with Heracles and everything else that had happened so far. But then again, Heracles is not exactly a bright boy either... However, he's just a slightly-jacked guy fighting with a slingshot and plants in a world full of monsters. He's doing his best lol
@@Vysard as for me, my dislike has nothing to do with his slowness of growth, dude's pretty limited when all he uses are slingshots. no, my dislike for Usopp is at a very personal level, which i cannot get into at this time. just know that my disdain for Long Nose is justifiable, and only the big time Usopp stans choose to not accept.
@@UltimateGamerCCThere is nothing to hate about ussop he is a normal human thats sailing on a yonkos ship and fighting crazy monsters and enemies everyone would be scared he is The most realistisc character in one piece
I keep saying this. Usopp has potential but it should have been used long ago. I would say even before, but especially after he got his hands on dials. Why do we not see him use those for traps. Now he also got all sorts of insane plants that also on the island where pretty much living traps. I agree that Usopp sucked in Dressrosa. But to me it was because Usopp should seriously have just died, or been turned into a toy too. Him ignoring his fear there was not bravery it was stupidity. It was suicide. He had no chance to actually win. And he should not have won. He already expressed his fear and doubt before they went in there. That was a huge chance to have him show off his great intellect. His fear the fuel for traps with redundancies and blan b,c and d's. The world of one piece is super, insanely dangerous. After Wano I could see him continue this by getting small amounts of sea prison stone and integrating them into his anti logia traps. He could still be a coward but he could grow confidence in his combined traps and sniping letting him have his moments of awesomeness. He should be willing to even fight a bit unfair or 'dishonourable' in my opinion. Sure he would have a goal of not, but if he rather not be honourably dead.
Brook, Big Mom, & Going Merry prove without a doubt, that spirits exist & CAN INTERACT with the OP world. I feel like that Bellamere scene was the first instance of a "ghostly" force
I like Usopp because of his ability to take on foes the rest of the crew either can't or wouldn't be able to on top of what was already on their plates. Granted, he's scared, whines, complains, and sometimes lets his faults drag others down, but he can at least rectify the mistakes, albeit after the damage is done. I kinda relate to him. Not on everything mentioned, but some of the items mentioned for sure. I can understand people not liking him. I can even understand people not getting how someone can list him as their favorite, like I do. Everyone's got their issues with certain characters. For example, despite having seen Nami's backstory, my dad can't stand her because she looks and acts alot like a younger and more exaggerated version of a former coworker. I have a friend that I text the events of the show to as I watch it. And I guess its instant telephone game, because although she LOVES a certain character we get added first to this batch, she cannot stand the second character added because her powers are something that creep her out. The telephone game part comes when we get to Water 7 and Enies Lobby Arc, where that certain character gets used maliciously with a small carrot, big thorny fiery stick approach that keeps aaid character from coming back. The constant "I'm not coming back" thing kinda put her off on top of the powers. And of course, there is the stereotype of Zoro and Sanji fans being at odds with the others' object of their picked fandom.
Honestly, there’s a couple big factors in one piece discourse. Large demographics have swarmed in from Shonen which has led to some passionate and not neutral (read: insane) discussions - because it’s not even about perspective anymore people just want you on their team. Plus at this point it’s had a cultural shift and is so mainstream that a lot of the fans more recently don’t read anything anymore, ever. Let alone read and decompile manga and it’s intent, depth, connections, plot, etc. The second is Oda for sure loves to throw salt in the wound on the troll bits, which I don’t hate stylistically but is for sure a known catalyst of vitriol lol.
My grandma would not understand anything as she do not know english or japanese. And even if she did I doubt she would be willing to watch something like this. There are so many shows I would love to watch with someone else though. As well as novels and books.
@@justanimage5012 I just find the way Oda writes to be a bit selfish for my taste, sometimes it feels like he shoots his story and characters in the foot to keep the Luffy train going. Still love it, but not as much as stories where authors submit themselves to their world
Loving this series so far! Just subscribed too, i've been looking for a good anime reaction from some older folk for a fresh opinion and reaction. Im still watching one piece im on episode 878 so im getting there but I still have a ways to go. PS: yall gotta watch mob psycho at some point. Short and sweet and i think grandma would like it
Wheres episodes 42 and 43? Love watching your guys videos, your lovely grandmother looks shockingly similar to my late grandmother. Keep up the good work!
I see the Usopp shenanigans, but I just don’t really care that much. I think his empty boasting is his way of dealing with a world that is much bigger and scarier than he can even imagine. He doesn’t really believe those things, and he’s the most neurotic of the crew (he wasn’t debilitated by Perona, + many other things I can’t talk about.) The people who are most negative are often those who are most neurotic. Neuroticism is defined as susceptibility to negative emotionality. If I felt that Usopp really believed all those empty boasts, then yeah I can see being annoyed. I get it though, Usopp is a goof.
I mean if people act like Sanji is #1 and obnoxious about it by all means handle it - but simultaneously he has the best character work / backstory development in the whole manga to fall back on at least
I would love a reaction with you and someone that really loves Usopp, just to see the contrast. Cause I know people that love those parts with Usopp, that you absolutely hate.
early on in Toei's anime, Usopp may come off a bit less badass/more annoying compared to his manga counterpart. I think they added more scenes into the anime of him chickening out than there are in actuality
Usopps whole shtick can be annoying, but to me it always was obvious that it is just the only way he can cope with his fear (since he just is very cowardly and pessimistic). Basically giving a hell of a pep talk to himself, all the time. Rewatching now I can see why you could feel like he’s ACTUALLY like this and then I think it’s perfectly understandable to hate him, lol. Since the moments where he shines and his real feelings and integrity come through are rare, and the big one’s of those moments happen later in the story. But I feel like the fact that you sort of "come around" to him later down the line, if ever, actually works really well with his character!
I don't exactly LIKE Usopp but i DO enjoy that he's both simultaneously a gag character with the "Im the great Captain who beat Arlong" AND that he's the Straight man to Luffy's ridiculous shenanigans. in response to "oh he's NORMAL" so is Nami and she is MUCH more enjoyable IMO
I’m not mad at this nor would I be mad if you like Usopp, but people act like not liking him is sacrilege lol We can not agree on a character, that’s not an issue. But people do ignore or invalidate pretty reasonable annoyances and say they don’t “get why people don’t like Usopp”. Those specifically are the only people who need to fixate on the Usopp friction because I mess with the rest of y’all regardless if Usopp is your favorite character
@@GRANIME It makes sense to be annoyed by usopp, but the constant criticism kinda eats into the wholesome vibe for me. Like, we do get it but that's extra 😂
For me, Usopp isn't my favorite but I respect him as a character. Its more like each character has their gag's, Luffy eating, Zoro getting lost, Nami wanting treasure, Sanji Simping, and Usopp getting scared all the time. For me personally I group all those together as gags so they don't really make me dislike the character. However based on the community people constantly hate on those aspects. I have a friend that constantly hates Nami and calls her the B word anytime she comes on screen. This reminds me of that but with Usopp. She gets that Nami is useful for Navigation, but were all caught up and She would rather have Nami not be in the show. I think certain people are just going to hate who they want to hate.
I like Usopp conceptually, but his schtick CAN get REALLY annoying at times. But once he's with the full crew he generally can't dominate an episode with that stuff, so its OK. Sanji's heart-eyed simping is similarly annoying to Usopp's rather shrill bragging or screaming...but its also a smaller % of his total screentime, so I liked him more immediately.
Still, One Piece superfans (I am one of the superfans, it changed my life, after all) need to chill out on criticism for this series. It is not exempt from its imperfections, as pinnacle peak as it is & can be
The pinnacle stuff is what gets y’all into conflicts, it’s good - excellent even, but it’s getting hard cleared by at least a handful of Mangaka To put it simply, there’s no gray and nobody dies. Granted that’s how Oda wants his story, but given it’s nature that definitely kneecaps it’s gravity
As a fan of usopp. Hes annoying especially at first, but he has moments and later on its much more comedic then now. Plus it doesnt compate to sanji annoying girl obsession at all.
You replied, which is nice since I rarely see the youtuber(s) reply to anyone. I can't see your reply, which is fine, I'm just going to assume you talked about sanjis' negative quirk against usopps. I'm not going to defend usopp as his drawback is very inhibiting to the strawhats, but he's also not meant to be a frontline fighter, meaning he's supposed to support his crew from range. Most of his really bad scenes are with him being in melee fights. On the other hand, sanjis "chivalry" puts the crew in more danger than ussop ever does. If it weren't for other crew mates helping him, then not only would he have lost, but there's a high chance the entire crew would've. Plus, it's annoying with hardly any comedy while usopp cowardice has some pretty funny moments. I understand it's your opinion, but I don't agree with it. I'm also not saying to change your opinion, but if more people, then not(by a large margin) like him, then you may want to relook at your dislike of him.
It is obvious that Usopp is the normal one but like now that I think about it, Luffy has a devil fruit, Zoro was able to beat adults as a kid, Sanji's cooking is top-notch compared to other chefs which is pretty good because the Baratie is already a classy restaurant and then on top of that, we get his backstory later on which explains other things, we have Nami who is a prodigy when it comes to charting, and then there's Usopp. He has to keep up with all of them and i didn't fully understand that when he brought that up during Water 7 in my first watchthrough. He beat a fishman and I applaud him for beating one despite his methods even after he witnessed Arlong lift a house. He's your typical comedic relief character who's scared (e.g. like Zenitsu) and yet he lasted as long as he did with Luffy haha because he's very similar to Coby
