Twins are cheaper in maidnance that's why nearly every civilian aircraft today are twins. The Transall is a little bit longer than the Hercules but lighter....

2 engines are cheaper to make, lower maintenance and more fuel efficient. The C-160 engines are more powerful than the C-130 and drive bigger props, but the C-130 having 4 engines allow it to carry heavier loads 16.000kg vs 19,000kg, both carry the same number of troops., both are extremely reliable.

Why can't you just say that it's a C-130 knock off. Because other countries are stealing our ideas. Don't get me wrong here but ain't it the truth
