For those who are wondering "Why can't Luigi's health go below 30?" Once your health is less than 30, Luigi's idle animation becomes "scared an exhausted" rather than just standing. Getting the skew is impossible unless Luigi is able to stand straight.
For being a solid game (Glitch-wise), there's still a 'finish the game in 15 minutes' glitch... You've managed to pull together some awesome content here as always (Y)
Yo guys! I can't tell you what the next video is gonna be, but it's halfway done! Something you'll all enjoy I'm sure :) I don't know if Luigi's mansion is a game I'll cover in the near future as I've never played it before... But it's possible I could do both eventually I suppose!
Wow, what a challenge getting this tied up and done before Halloween. Some really cool stuff in this episode, so show a friend and try these glitches out. Thanks for the amazing support guys! Andy
It’s funny how when zackscottgames was doing the Luigi’s mansion dark moon series I picked up the game half way into his series and finished before him
I was almost expecting you to cover SW: Ep III games and their glitches since I'm sure they're very poorly put together, atleast compared to some other games. (y'know cause Episode 66. Order 66.)
There's another glitch I found with the gravity swappers. If you suck up a boo ON THE FRAME it enters the Poltergust, step on the gravity swapper. If done successfully, Luigi's head should clip through the celling during the call with EGadd. I've only had this happen to me once.
SmashMarioPro 2000 Weird. I know about a variation of the glitch that makes Luigi float in midair. Could have been the timing that left Luigi's head stuck in the ceiling.
I've encountered something similar. I was in the that basement room with all the dust and gravity switches, and I sucked up a boo whilst using a gravity switch. Since it was a boo milestone, E Gadd called me and Luigi was floating upside down!
Sean W. Stewart I had a GameCube in our basement, which at the time was a man cave where me and my dad hung out in, and we had a tv that could split screens. So while my dad watched sports, I would play Pokemon XD, scooby doo, or Madagascar. Now that our basement has become a mess, my dad said he hid the GameCube until we got the basement clean. That was around 10 years ago. My dad doesn't know where he hid it, if he didn't sell it. Now I keep begging for him to find it because I realized that super Mario sunshine, luigi's mansion, Paper Mario TTYD, and mariokart double dash on it. Sad and unnecessary story, but whatever
Sean W. Stewart Yeah ton of great games on that thing Luigi's Mansion Super Mario Sunshine Pikmin (as you said) Metroid Prime and it's sequel All amazing games
Ok guys, just a few minutes ago I accidentally found a new glitch! Apon catching the boo in the Cellar, (which is that room in the basement with the gravity switches) make sure you are standing on the switch closest to the hallway door, and Luigi will stop his animation of flipping gravity and just hang there upside down! Try it for yourself! Make sure to be standing on it WHILE the boo is in the "caught" animation. Please like so he can see this! 😁
Hey A+ start, I really appreciate all the hard work you put into this series. this is one of my favorite childhood games so I'm really glad you did it! keep up the good work.
That's because of emulator footage. It's a glitch on the dolphin emulator since it cannot emulate the effect of the painting being blurred for some reason.
You can NOT believe how excited I am for the Luigi's mansion port for the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS! It comes out in December, and I am so excited for it! I can't wait!
Well with playing the games to get to this point to recording and editing the video to making a script and then reading that script, not to mention all the possible mistakes in any of these, probably takes a while even if he does a great job regularly. Added to the fact that he has other things in his life and I can imagine it must take a lot of time, it'd still take a lot of time even if he had all the free time in the world. XD
Yeah, he’s using Dolphin Emulator, so what? Do you know how hard it is to capture his high quality gameplay on the original hardware? It’s a 20 year old console you know…
This video has been on my wtach later playlist for 7 years. I was in highschool when this came out. And now youtube recomended it to me after all this time.
I'll bite, what's the glitch? the only major glitch in Sly 2 that I remember, is the episode 7 reset glitch. where if you enter the room the safe happens to be in, the game will think you should be playing that laser stealth mission and will revert your progress in the episode to 36%(give or take a few %)
Brett c The glitch I'm referring to is where you can go into the Contessas room in the first mission of Episode 5 where you're only allowed to take photos. It's a glitch I found on my own.
Víctor Báez Some players think it's like a creepy Easter egg, but really its a graphical error. Kinda funny looking, and in my opinion it doesn't look like Luigi at all.
Thank you so much for showing the glitch that I found. It really means a lot to me, especially since Luigi's Mansion is my favorite game of all time. Enjoyed the video as always. :D
Or people who love the game and enjoy finding/performing glitches. People have different likes and dislikes when it comes to video games. Some people like glitches and speedruns, some people like replaying games while others focus on beating games and then playing new ones.
ilufflezpie ilufflezpie Most of these glitches were probably discovered on accident. That's how I discovered the Sir Weston Ice Glitch. Even the King Boo skip has some element of accident in there. Someone probably went behind Chauncey's chest on accident, but then people started experimenting.
8:37 "Where he [King Boo] tells Luigi he doesn't have enough Boos to enter" Me, knowing how the speech sounds: "So King Boo want to get completely way past drunk with Luigi?" 🤣
The GameCube controller that mimics the glitches help me out so much performing them on my own. Half of the time, I just look at the controller and not at the screen and It works.
Right at 8:00-8:01, you can see the Dolphin save state notification in the upper right for just a split second. Your secret's out, Andy! Now the whole world knows you didn't do this in one try!
There's another glitch that can be performed with the portrait key; Once you defeat the portrait ghost leave the key and instead hunt the ghost in the same room,. However, let the boo go into the hallway then have him reenter the portrait room. Then after the boo has been captured, save the game. If you've done it right the key is.......GONE! My theory is that because of how too much things happened at once the game gets confused and ultimately causes the game to free up space by deleting extra data, but I don't know if it works for some versions.
I'd like to do a public PSA about exactly how people find time to do these glitches. Answer: They don't need to. On a construction level, games are built somewhat identically, and depending on the era, the programming shares tricks in construction with other games of the era, which were in turn derived from games built before it. Clipping into walls is the most common form of glitch in 3D games, compared to 80's/90's era ss/platformers. Both walls and general objects in video games share a coding property called "collision". Character models are also a type, known by FGC type communities as hitboxes. They are normally defined as having the inability to interact beyond their boundaries. Clipping, however, occurs when a character model ends up between two collision boundaries and the game cannot resolve this under defined rules. From here, depending on the exact coding of the game, a few circumstances can occur: 1. If the physics accounts the model collision bounce as motion, it will exponentially scale it up in speed. If you could escape this after the fact and had clearance, the trapped model would shoot off like team Rocket. 2. The game prioritizes one collision over the other, but not the model. This results in the model being pushed into the losing collision, because it's easier the game to resolve this extremely common oversight quickly to save on resources, and the devs don't have to play test potential breaks. 3. The game doesn't collide at all under a conflict, and merely lets the model intersect freely, in some occasions disabling collision for the model entirely. What the 15-minute end game in this video is is a Type 2 clip. The collision data for the chest begins loading at some undefined point after beating Chauncey, but the data doesn't fully load until a little after Luigi can already move around. Easy fixes to this clip would have been to load it earlier or, more easily, disable Luigi's movement completely after the fight with a cutscene flag. Depending on how the data for certain visual effects are stored (png, gif, jpg, et cetera...) they could even load the whole thing midfight and just halt the animation for the chest until the the last hit registered. It's become common practice to extend floor space behind what should be playable normally to only a minimum, as it means less the game has to load, but also allow a little wiggle room in testing, as building environments in programs often means you can't (and shouldn't) cut the terrain exactly to unit, because the map is typically edited with the whole thing visible. It's more efficient to edit the creation tools to auto size it to the walls as they place them. This is how you end up with the "Floor 1.5" seen in the video: the collision data of the ceiling is what keeps Luigi in place, but his model is technically in both floors 1 and 2, head skimming the floor like a green shark and feet bicycling the corners of the room. Now, the very top of walls, unless they're designed and programmed to slant/slope, will have derivative collision data that allows models to stand, even walk on top of them. The margin for error in these cases is extremely small, which necessitates the sidestep mode to eliminate that margin. Provided you stay within the limits of collision without clipping, you could go anywhere in the mansion in theory, as it seems to load all permanent collision on game startup, then do visuals afterwords. The process of finding glitches is backed with global experience built up over 20 years of experience, ever since the jump to 3D was done. It's really that simple.
The bats actually do spawn on the PAL version, and you can get a skew and beat the game, it's just on the hidden mansion mode (which speedrunners use because it's faster) they don't spawn
nice video! kind of sad you didn't include the glitch where you get kind boo's crown mid-fight, but still, i had fun watching all of the glitches in action!
I saw the Dark Moon episode in the Up Next thing and in the two videos below there were the boundary break AND Beta64 Episodes for this game, and in the 4 videos below them is the Lost Bits episode. *Whew that was alot of typing*
Glitch: If you catch a Boo, while the gravity flipper animation is playing, E.Gadd will call while during the animation and Luigi will freeze. This will cause a tilted Luigi while E.Gadd is taking to him. Nothing special, just something funny I discovered one day.
Hey, Andy. There's a hilarious glitch I found a long time ago. I have a video of it on my channel. Bear in mind it's an old video, so don't mind the quality...
If u fall in the laundry room, you can go in the butler's room too, along its the hidden room, but your stuck down there, as there are no mirrors. Happened to me before.
7:11 According to your gameplay, it should be "LEFT on the control stick and then RIGHT on the C-stick". Correct? Was a little confusing at first. Just in case any wants to try it and gets confused like me. Love you, Andy! :3
ijve done the exact thing identical to skew in the video for the last 3 hrs and still cant stop from cutting back to being straight instead of skewed after likke half a second
The time it would take me to not only learn but execute this glitch in 15 minutes would probably be twice the time it would take me to actualy play through the game. ;D
