So does this mean that the scary place is the real world and the Mushroom kingdom is Luigis imagination, meaning the place he sees while he is on drugs? And he just takes to many drugs?
Did it tho? I'm gonna get philosophical here but, in that close universe (meaning, the video would be true and nothing more) wich world is true? You could say that the sad world is the true one because you don't need to consume any product to view it, but in our world (back to the real life) we ingest some chemical products every day that let us have the perspective of our world like we have (for example the natural amounts of lithium on water). So (back in their universe) you could not be sure wich world is real, so is it right to follow the heudonistic approach and stay in the happy world? Or is it right to stay in the sad world following an eudonistic approach... But, eudonism requires to have a notion of what is true and accept it no matter how sad it is... This is a truly interesting topic to discuse.
@@mikego2611 No the world without drugs is the real one because all the faculties that he uses to view said world are still working properly and actually viewing the world he is in but when he takes the drugs he isn't viewing a world its just the neurons in his brain firing in a certain pattern that is not reality
1:46 The graffiti next to the mirror says "257", it probably stands for "GG 257", alprazolam. This pill is prescribed for anxiety and panic, which luigi is known for. Side effects might include memory loss, confusion, speech problems, yellow skin and eyes and hallucinations. We know what he is in. Also: This drug works by "reducing" emotions, so the fact that he comes back when he FEELS something, like cuteness by the koopa or being flattered by the princess makes sense.
@@alierk542 Well I mean, his life sucks and he, in his few moments of lucidity can see how decrepit he is. So even his powerful drugs can't shadow his disgrace entirely
Toad was just Luigi's subconscious telling him to stop taking drugs. Luigi was never aware. All Luigi needed to project his thoughts was a muse, and a mushroom-styled lamp was all he needed to tell himself he needed to stop.
I was thinking the same exact thing! I wonder if that's something real drugs do, just like dreams your subconscious can breach and "express itself" in a sense in conscious form. Pretty interesting stuff.
1:48 You can see the words “LUIGI IS A ---“ and Mario crossed it out, writing “Don’t insult my baby brother!” shows he truly cares about his baby bro. Edit: Somewhere on the top left.
It's depressing because that dark world seems more real then the mushroom kingdom , question is would you take the pill to live in a happy fantasy or not take the pill an live in reality ? I would choose not to take the pill unfortunately how fucked up am i ?
@darkfullgor 0_0 I don't think they "gave up on life" but rather that the demands of their work proved too much for them. Mario said as much, that they turned to drugs to "give them a boost" from doing the same thing day after day.
The drugs are likely slowly or rapidly killing his brain or causing other bodily damage. The Toad therapist was likely his own survival instincts trying to sub-consciously tell him to stop before the stuff ultimately causes a overdose with something he feels comfortable with. But that is manipulatable. Sadly, Luigi will likely die soon for health concerns from the drugs.
Dr. Zeptard i agree it's well done and it feels like an actual story that's not like random comedy about shit i mean the fact that they emphasized the theory that the power-ups are drugs in a good way it touches my heart
Just noticed Mario doesn't go full on Mushroom Kingdom so that he can protect Luigi from the real world. He let his brother live the dream but he can't do the same all the way. He has to make sure he's there for him. That's both sad and beautiful.
Are you fucking mental, lad? He keeps his fucking brother entrapped in a fucking drug addiction, making them both living in a crackhouse and doing god knows what fucking fucked up shit else. On what mushrooms you on to find that sick and disgusting shit beautiful?
Dam zoltan kovai relax, i agree on your statement but Jesus you didn’t had to tear thibautisserant a new one, you could just explain to him...or her, on what they just say was ridiculous.
@@hero_smlimaloser8812 Sure, next time I see someone leaves a comment like I saw the other day on that scene from Suicide Squad, where Leto's Joker is laying around surrounded by knives and guns and there are couple of baby clothes, and some teenage girl goes "Oh, did you see those baby clothes? You think Harley and Joker have babies, I wish they have babies, they'd be so cute and wierd :o", I'll gently pat her on her shoulder and softly whisper "Sweetie, I'm afraid you need a psychiatrist
2:07-2:35 This kinda shit is straight out of my nightmares. The act of giving in; giving up your Self, and being told that it's going to be amazing when you let go...and you believe it.
Brother, I won't say much so please listen up because after this comment I assure you, I won't reply to your comment after this. Please, be strong because there will be days when things won't go your way and you'll experience failure after failure and *IF* you give in, I hear you, and say this with all tenderness, but please slowly, lift yourself up. Again and again. Keep the hope alive, brother. Trust me..... The act of give in and the act of giving up on yourself.... I've been there, man...... 😔😔😖😖😢
Invader Zim nobody expects the act of just... giving up Nobody wants to do it The sad, depressing ambient the music put us, the viewers in Luigi’s eyes, the horrible reality that in some people’s eyes, its best to give up The fact that none can be done to change anything in the common life makes people frustrated and angry. Like Mario says: “Things are-a better this way, we can’t-a-do what we do, decade after decade without the little boost” That phrase just means, that for much people, this is the only way to be sane, to be happy, to feel like you aren’t just some slave that works with almost no freedom and the only option of freedom is the will of living Man, i can be a speech man or a therapist cuz i have talked too much (im glad i have find this video, again)
So basically: The Mushroom kingdom did exist at one point, but times changed, people got older, and it fell apart. Mario developed special drugs so they can return to the Mushroom Kingdom's Heyday, but only if they keep taking them. Luigi ended up forgetting he was on drugs after taking them for so long
I don't think so? The Mushroom Kingdom still doesn't actually exist. In reality the photo is of Luigi and Mario when they were younger in the plumbing business. They started out happy. It's just that their job sucked so bad over the years they turned to drugs for happiness. This is still reality, it's just that they were happier in their younger years.
I just realized something... Does anyone remember the old Super Mario Bros. Show? With live-action snippets at the episodes' book-ends? My guess is that all this happens years after the events of the show, after NYC finally falls apart, and that Mario and Luigi's plumbing business has gone down the drain after they got addicted to illegal drugs, which they spent all of their money on. And now, their only escape are the drugs, which they buy from real-world Peach, so that they can keep going to their fantasy world, where everything is all right. I will never look at this franchise the same way again.
At that same part in the video, there is graffiti that says “don’t insult my baby brother”, crossing out an insult directed at Luigi He really loves Luigi, and gives him the acid at the end so he can, technically, be happy.
2:07 Mario's little speech to Luigi is sad ngl, imagine being in that position, thinking about the old days then proceeding to use drugs to escape again
damn...this is some dark shit....some things aren't eternal and sometimes, you want to relive the best moments of your life......genius........one of the best mario animation adaptation i've seen thus far.........
It's quite sad , If you noticed the graffiti under the mirror there's a green line saying " It's world is too dark for me. I don't know if i can take it any longer " which is probably writed by Luigi Also there's a line saying that " Luigi is a ___ " but the last line was removed by Mario, he writing back to it " Don't insult my baby brother ! " which means he still care for Luigi.
There's an even sadder truth behind the Mushroom Kingdom: most of the Mario games were just stage plays. So none of them were really happening. They were just the products of someone's imagination. And in Mario VS Donkey Kong, Mario sells a toy business starring him. So that sort of explains everything. I think the only real game is the first Super Mario Bros on the NES and everything else after that are just stage plays. Mario Party and Mart Kart is also real too.
For some reason I want another video of where Luigi actually managed to lay off the "powerups" and that he's taking better care of himself but soon enough, the others tried and forced him to go back to using "powerups"
So? Mario and Luigi are addicts, Toad is a lamp, Peach is a prostitute, and Koopa Troopa is a hobo with a cardboard box? Is there anything on this video that won't ruin your childhood?
While this video was good, am I the only one who would like to see this idea in reverse? Like, the "real world" is the hallucination, and the Mushroom Kingdom is reality?
Well, at least the real world doesn't have bottomless pits and leaders being captured every 6 months. But seriously, the only reason I came up with this idea is because, even though this video is good, we seen this idea before, that the Mushroom Kingdom is an imaginary world came up by drug addicts. I do think it can work, but it would need to be smart and catch us off guard.
God. The part where mario shoe the pills, it almost made me cry. Damn that video was heavy. His own mind was triyng to save him. And the worse is that there are people out there that may live in a similar reality
(Morgan Freeman Voice) "In the end, Mario died choking on his own vomit, and Luigi went permanently mad. Some say Mario was the lucky one, no longer enduring a hellish, tormented existence, while others say Luigi was the lucky one: he was alive, but hopelessly lost in the world within his mind. Eventually, he would meet his fate at the hands of a drunk driver, thus drawing the Mario Bros. Saga to a sad and tragic end."
EpicDude6951 What they mean is that, Lugi was dreaming about the mushroom kingdom, but everything was a lie, he has Terminal 7 brain cancer, if you don't know what that means then check it Out on the internet. Suddenly, he is thrust into reality, everything he knows is different, this is real, he just won't accept it. And at the very end, the picture of lungi and Mario meant denying reality and sticking with his dreams.
@@maribelle1935 Yea but... Joy would make you feel nothing, We Happy Few joy just makes the world look happier i guess but Lisa's joy just nullifies feelings in general
This is DARK. When I actually sat down and thought about everything after the video I got a little depressed lol. My brother has a drug problem, the way I've seen him live his day to day it sometimes makes me think that the drugs do cause him to see his life in a totally different way than he actually does live it. If he could just see what other people see it might open his eyes, but like Luigi he's chosen to close his eyes multiple times and go with that reality.
You know, even for a parody animation, this stuff is legitimately deep, considering how drug addiction ruins lives and how the atmosphere of this video was played out
the next one is gonna be sonic being a pet hedgehog being abused and experimented on by eggman. he trys to run away but the owner always catches him, and the chaos emeralds are used for the experiments. or maybe a guy overdosed on lsd and wants to go fast. is what matpat would say
this isnt ok. This video was actually inspired by a vinesauce skit about Luigi having a type of brain cancer called “Terminal 7”. In which Luigi had been the one to imagine the mushroom kingdom in the first place, all through living off the lively hood of his deadbeat brother. It even got animated into a video called “Mario tells Luigi the truth”. Warning, it’s way darker then this
i think mario is a little like Rick from Rick and Morty. He’s pretty bad, but he still cares about his bro deep in his insecurities that hes buried within him
Oh man..I feel bad for Luigi. But great video Mashed :D I also have a theory about this vid: I think that Mario and Luigi actually were in the Mushroom Kingdom once upon a time, but after defeating Bowser and returning to Brooklyn, Mario felt bored with a normal life, where as Luigi was content with his life, but when Mario took LSD without Luigi knowing and he felt like he was back in the Mushroom Kingdom and the people around him were the residents of the kingdom. With this, he tricks Luigi by telling him they are a way back to the Mushroom Kingdom so they can be a "timeless classic" like Mario said. After a long time of manipulation, Luigi was starting to see the truth and thus we got the vid we do now. But hey, that's just a theory, a Mashed Theory! Thanks for reading!
