This is the worst part of your rankings... Dwayne is undervalued and Luka is extremely overvalued. He's only played 4 seasons, if you had him 50, nobody would bat an eye, but top 20 all time? This entry alone disqualifies the whole top50...

Jokic against the Warriors this postseason: 31 pts on 57.5 percent shooting, 13 rebounds, 6 assists. Luka against warriors in postseason 32 pts on 41.5 percent shooting, 9 rebounds, 6 assists. Jokic also played better defense in the series and was on a worse supporting cast and Nick Wright said he performed terribly. That a true league MVP doesnt lose in round 1. Jokic has also had a far greater career then Luka and he doesnt even make the top 50 while Luka is ranked 20th. Your analysis on these two players is a Joke Nick.

Maybe cos ones a centre and is closer to the basket therefore the percentage chance of a shot going in is higher and the others a guard who plays away from the basket and the percentage chance of a shot going is lower.

I think being around 20 aligns pretty well. His 3 1st team all nba’s are right there already and his playoff success also. Maybe he should be a bit lower, but it’s not really outlandish given those couple factors. Everyone around 20 is going to be missing something. For luka and cp3 it’s rings. For others like d wade it’s regular season accolades.

@@brycehammerton4542 how is his playoff success there? He's won 2 playoff series his whole career which is extremely poor compared to the rest of the people on this list. So his personal accolades would need to be really good to put him this high given that. 3 all nba first teams, there are 26 players in the last 50 years with more than that and 34 players with as many or more all nba first teams. So that doesn't make sense. Plus it doesn't make sense to solely rate players based off first teams, you need to look at other all nba teams and all stars as well.

@@christophergooding9820 yes their are some players with more first teams but it is at least close. Maybe he is a bit lower, but 20 isn’t crazy. Nick went into pretty good detail on his career playoff averages being right there with pretty much just Jordan and lebron. The 2 greatest players ever. Yes luka is missing some longevity and rings, but pretty much everyone outside the top 15 are missing something. I might have him a bit lower, but it’s not crazy

I don't have a problem with Luka being on the list, I just think the way you handle it is to put him at #50 and call it a day. If people think that looks dumb when they revisit the list years later, you just remind them that Luka was 23 years old.

Definitely a smarter way to do it, it would be like putting Lebron in the top 20 in 2008. He was clearly on his way to being one of the best ever, but to make him top twenty would have been ridiculous.

Luka isn't even at 50 though as Embiid nor Jokic are in his NBA 50 and both are better than Luka all time wise. Luka has 0 top 3 MVP finishes

There was no ranking on Shaq, he was just Top 50 so there was speculation on his ranking 50-1. You have Luka in a specific spot which means you have him above a lot of guys that are way more established, and why people are going to over criticize him.

HOLD THE EFFF UP! 4 Things real quick because what you're leaving out is up until that point 4 years into his career when that list came out: 1.Points per game he was 4th on the list behind Wilt. Jordan, and Baylor. 2. Rebounds per game he was 12th, 3. Blocks per game he was 3rd behind Hakeem and D. Robinson, 4. FG% SHAQ WAS FIRST BY A MILE OVER ALL 49! Buddy, realistically speaking in terms of per game output... Shaq was already TOP 5 on that list EASILY. They didn't need to number them and disrespect the other 45 players below him like you all feel about Luka's position.

No one would accuse Luka of playing fast, I’ll say, often being one of the slower paced teams, the Mavs are with Luka’s style of play. Luka doesn’t have any major team accomplishments yet when looked at from an all-time lens, we’ll see if he gets those eventually

Pace is irrelevant for Luka; his teams have been the slowest paced in the NBA pretty regularly. But also, you can just look at his per 36-minute stats (which is very influenced by pace) and per 100 possession stats (which are not affected by pace at all) and both show he's putting up ridiculous numbers both regular and postseason. He's dominating, and the 3 All-NBA first teams is already better than a lot of guys behind him on the list, even if he doesn't get any more the rest of his career. Maybe he doesn't belong at 20, but he's already good enough and accomplished enough to make it on the top-50, despite only being in his 4th season.

I’m the biggest Nick Wright fan on the world… But Luka at 20 isn’t consistent with his methodology at all. Jokic has 2 mvps already and 3 1st team all nbas and has made it to the conference finals like Luka. If Jokic isnot even on the list (he won’t be), then I can’t ride with Nick on this at all

@@Joes35 I actually feel that Nick’s list has been pretty defendable thus far besides the Luka/Jokic disparity. I’m also a LeBron Stan so I can’t pretend like I’m objective on that front, either. But we’ll see. The argument for Kareem at #1 or #2 isn’t ridiculous, but I think he’ll go Jordan at 2.

OMG EXACTLY!! Then on the other hand he values 20 years of Lebron's longevity over Jordan's 12 years of being near perfect. Joker has been in the league twice as long as Luka and unlike lebron has actually accomplished more than Luka. You said it right. The methodology is NOT consistent. Luka has accomplished more at 23 than any of the other guys did at 23. He is that high because he has his whole career left and has already done great things. Completely deserved imo if by some chance he ended his career now then he would have to be dropped lower. If you say that the ranking should be just how they are now and not project at all then fair point.

Giannis & Lebron won their first MVPs at 24. Magic & Bird were champions by 24. If Luka doesn’t do either next season, he’ll already be playing catch up When you put all of this into perspective, Luka suddenly doesn’t seem as historically transcendent as Nick is making it seem

If Luka stopped playing today I 100% agree with you, but he is kinda grading Luka on a curve, and yes, it was a exception for Luka. The other thing is, I don't think Luka have a top 30 resume I do think Luka is top 12ish talent and have a top 5 ceiling. Jokic is probably top 45 if he updates the list right now but ain't no way as good as Luka

This list reminds me of the expression ‘better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and confirm it’. This man really thought about this list for several years to have Kawhi Leonard behind James Harden and Luka above KG. His methodology is all over the place; Stockton got in the top 25 or so because of longevity, now Luka is there despite playing like three playoff series. He claims Luka has never had a bad playoff game and that his games are better than KG’s best while ignoring how he has been outright abused on the other end. Before this list I could view him as a provocateur; but now it’s clear that he is at heart like a child who loves his favourites with all his heart and who uses his considerable intelligence basically to cape for them despite holding himself out as a historian. No wonder Brou is fed up with him 😂

Nick while intelligent loses so much credibility because his takes are all based in feeling with attempts at using stats when it backs his ridiculous love for his favorite players. Rather than just stating the facts he gushes over players players that he uses to further his career and wants to be the 1st to say someone is great. As a result he thoroughly overrates them.

Wait so why did the “need to see him do it for longer” get so held against Kawhi? You said yourself Kawhi is one of the greatest playoff performers ever! And he has 2 DPOYs! What are we doing here? Kawhi has a significantly *more robust* playoff SCORING resume, particularly if you pay *any* attention to efficiency, and that is to make zero mention of the defensive end of the floor. Where Luka is a negative, if anything. And how is Luka above even Jokic??? You discount Jokic’s 2020 run, for some reason, when he took out the championship favorites in 7 games then lost in 5 in the conference finals. Exactly what Luka just did. Except Jokic has TWO MVPs. What about Garnett, one of the three best defensive players of the last 25 years? This list was already a disaster, but it has fallen into blatant internal inconsistency.

Nick really respects guys who can carry a team singlehandedly and win against better teams in the playoffs. Who finishes in the top for mvp every year or at least in the discussion. Kawhi was part of a legendary team, part of a good raptors team that beat a broken GSW team. Not much of a regular season mvp guy, part of one of the worst playoff choke jobs in nba history. I think kawhi should be higher as well, Scottie and Dwight Howard and a few others but it's Nick list. No big deal. And AD should be 50th or not even on here.

I remember watching Wade in the Finals and just thinking this dude is legendary. The way he shot free throws, over and over again and again, was just something we as NBA fans had never seen before. And hopefully we never see it again. Off the top of my head I don’t remember the exact number but I believe it was 97 free throws in 6 games. Stuff a legends indeed

Am I supposed to believe that is top 20 all time? I would rather you score 20 a game and help on defense than to get scored on all game or literally let your team 4 on 5 If this is lukas peak at bets I can only see him as a top 50-75 player. If he can improve his defense and efficiency a bit then we can talk about 50-20

Rookie of the year and then three straight All-NBA teams in a row following. Sound familiar? I’m talking about Penny Hardaway. Luka’s playoff stats are better, but Penny was also good in the playoffs and even made a Finals. Luka a potential all-time great? Yes. “Too soon” for this ranking? Also yes…just ask Penny. Bad comparison. Penny's career was hobbled by a major career affecting injury after his explosive start. He was injury prone through his entire career after that. Luka does not rely on his explosiveness.

The Western Conference is about to get tougher next couple of years, I doubt Luka will be back for a while. Clippers about to get healthy, Timberwolves & Pelicans both will be completely healthy and might take a big swing upwards. Denver will get healthy, Lakers with AD can take on anyone, Warriors young core will get better plus a healthy Wiseman. Be careful what you wish for cause the West will be no joke next couple of years. Plus Suns might have 1 more good run in them. Mavs might become the Hawks of last yr, Eastern Conference Finals then bounced in the 1st round.

Stat nerds like Nick don't realize guys like Luka and Harden's stats look good on paper, but for every 30 point game they have, they give up 30 points on defense. Guys like Jordan and Kawhi who play offense (and defense) have a much bigger impact on winning.

In 2010, Bill Simmons had 26-year old Lebron James at #20 All Time. The same Lebron James who, at the time, had 2X MVPs, 7X All-NBA, 3X All-Defense, and carried the Cavs to the NBA Finals once in 2007. This is exactly why just naming off stats is the most casual things you can do & shows everything you say is filtered with bias. 33-9-9 in todays game does not equal 33-9-9 in every era. Also, for every point Luka created for the Mavs, he also created the same amount of points for his opponents on the other end. It’s not different from a player having a 1:1 TO to AST ratio wtf does matter u have 17 assist if you also gave away the ball 13 for 30 plus points off turnovers.
