@@JpGoXthats hilarious you follow!! JJ is ok but some takes are retarded. Like his disrespect of Bird. Cousy. Probably Hondo ang Russ. Maybe he s going for clickbait!!
Exactly what I was thinking. Because its one thing to understand a foreing languague, write it well, you might even read flawless... but to elaborate a joke (a burn) at the right timing with the right words... thats really sth!
I dunno’ how people listen to his podcast. I click on the clips hoping to see what the other person says and after 3 minutes I realise all I’ve heard is JJ build up to a question by talking about nothing but himself
True! haha As much attention gets put on Luka, he's a career 34.7% for 3. JJ has a career 41.5% and one season shot it at 47.5%-elite. He's a top 10 shooter of all time for sure.
@@kuyanick while Reddick is ranked 17th for 3-pt %, an amazing stat-filled article in Sporting News by Micah Adams rates him in the top 10 for his team impact and perhaps #5-6 for shotmaking skills. REF - Where does J.J. Redick rank among the NBA's all-time greatest shooters?
@@kuyanick Well we can agree that spot-up shots with about 6 attempts is at least not as hard as contested late clock stepbacks with 10 attempts and one of the highest usage rates in the league. Maybe Luka could shoot 42% if only shooting wide open but you'd be wasting all of his other elite skills... which JJ did not have.
@@benitocamela6336 I agree, but he was a known shooter so of course he was contested, even not being the main scoring option. If you're a great shooter, the numbers show, whether contested, doubled teamed, late clock etc. We can look at the likes of KD, Curry, Lebron, Brunson... Not taking away from Luka's skillsets. He's talented and a good shooter-just not an elite one is all.
I thought he was gonna say “I was making” if he was Antoine Walker shooting threes then it would make sense for Luka to say “you’re into analytics NOW”
@@garytaylor8616 He already mentioned the 3's though in the video. . . he was adding a few others as jokes, obviously. Don't play Karen/ignorant bro. You better than that. Wipe JJ's kids off your chin with a whiny comment like that.
@@Gottiline_Ace No one thought he was going to be more than an average NBA player. He actually did better than expected, playing 15 years in the league
@@ousamaabdu794 maaaaannnn…gotta agree 100%. I bet a friend that he’d be outta the league in 3-4 seasons…ala Jimmer. Dude worked his azz off and had a solid career. Gotta give him props
This was such a good interview. Thanks JJ, you are a true journalist in the every sense of the word. Keep pushing, LFG DBook coming up yall stop and listen.
I think what luka meant was, what you need advanced analytics for? You shoot the ball if you make it cool. You don't need complicated numbers to tell you where to be.
Actually yeah it helps. Knowing where he’s most and least effective on the court, where he should be to support the guy with ball (will he need me as an outlet or should I move so he can drive?), how often the defence plays zone, how often they double and when, where they tend to allow the most open threes, etc.
@curtisbrown6984 yeah your right. But this is why i like luka. People have said this about luka. He does NOT care. He's having fun out there and he's not gonna let analytics limit his options. How are you going to get better at your weaknesses if you only stick to your strengths? It's such a better mindset imo
No luka is saying JJ can’t shoot lol. Luka is saying he thought JJ wasn’t into analytics when he played because JJ shot the ball…if JJ was into analytics, he would not have been shooting because he shot bad and analytics would clearly show that. Luka is joking around saying JJ lays bricks.
That’s not what he’s saying. He’s saying JJ must not have had time to analyze stats because he was busy practicing shooting as he was really great at it.
@erictalbert4633 lol I think maybe you're the one who needs to leave their feelings out of it, if he's really a King then I doubt he needs you're assistance.
@@ch1il986 It’s a nickname people. Just like Air Jordan or Larry Legend or “Magic”Johnson. Born Lebron James matched it with King James of the Bible I’m just saying we could be respectful of all monikers without cheap shots is all.
@Deadbeatwaffle He was an outstanding jump shooter, nothing wrong with that... but he didn't go to the basket. He didn't get in the lane and cut defenses up with passes. He did what he's special at and that's shoot jump shots. The funny in this clip is his face, knowing Luka is dead serious, too. JJ had no other responsibilities on the court. Hit open jumpers. He melded well with some good teams he was on, but in playoffs, except 2018 in Philly, he was a liability, with teams being able to focus on his role more specifically in series. A solid basketball player though.
I love it when fans and players laugh at and disregard the stats and analytics. It's all such garbage. Thank you Luka and Jokic, and anybody else who just plays, watches, and loves the game without all of the fluff.
@@d.columbia9603 he is a 3rd year professional not a rookie did you not watch him in France playing professional getting PAID winning 20 out of 82 games is not impressive getting locked up by bench players is not impressive horrible offensively decent on defense 0 paint skill length is his only saving grace if not for that he would still be in France
@@JRMason-ri4ii I'm not saying there's bad blood between the two. JJ inviting someone doesn't mean he likes them, just that they're popular. JJ made it obvious how much he cares about the views. when it comes to MVP discussion, best players he's played with...he never mentions Luka
If you look at advanced defense stats, JJ was actually a plus defender - not by contesting shots from the other guard, but by forcing the other guard to chase him around the court all day, he tired him out
That’s offense. That has nothing to do with JJ stopping the other team from scoring. Watch the rockets vs Clippers playoff series if you want to see JJ amazing defense
I used to love JJ redick. But ever since he said that about Larry Bird and his 3-point legendary diss I won't have anything to do with JJ redick anymore. He was completely ignorant and inaccurate. To go on a podcast and trash down Larry Bird is unbelievable and uncalled for.
There is no bigger Bird fan than I, but today's players ARE better three-point shooters. It is just a matter of practice and repetition. Larry Bird averaged three attempts per game for his career. Or, to put it a way that is more glaring, Jayson Tatum has MADE 500 more three-pointers in the first seven years of his career than Larry TOOK over that same time period.
