@@RealNormHall Luka spoke before the game, spoke to the crowd in Spanish and punctuated his speech with a little Mexican slang. Then he went out & dropped a 40 point triple doncic!
K. John as far as defense is concerned I think the NBA is very soft and caters to offensive players such as Curry, Luka, Harden etc. Euro league made Luka gifted at creating space and making shots with contact.
@@alvojnikovic2171 I don't think it's the defense that's soft. The best way to see that is when Team USA plays the Olympics or the world cup. When Team USA plays defense there's literally nothing European players can do, nothing and I'm saying that as a European myself. The major difference though is in these international competitions, you play under FIBA rules which are stricter and better enforced than that weird mixup we see in the NBA. NBA players get away with way more nonsense to score than in Euroleague. Considering the rules in Europe, you are obliged to be more technical and have greater fundamentals. In general also, European athletes tend to be more smooth and thoughtful [strategical] in sports in general whereas US athletes tend to be more explosive, demonstrative and athletic. Kobe Bryant is a prime example of that. He is American but played a good part in Europe and you could see how smooth, elegant and easy he was with the basketball. Élégance, ease, harmony... are things that has always been part of the European construct whether it be in music, literature and even sports. Luka is just that personified.
I literally stood up when he did that. A couple plays earlier, he backed Drummond down 3-4 feet and hit a clean turnaround fade away over Drummond. I haven't seen Porzingis move that smoothly, that fluidly, with that kind of confidence all season (And I've seen like 80% of their games). As a Mavs' fan, I'm hoping it's a sign of things to come. I think it is. Hopefully KP's announcement to the league "I'm Back!"
@@ronhill1502 he fr gets better every game. Makes winning plays like blocks/hustles, rebounds, passes and the shot is starting to fall slowly but surely(although he was just 0/3 from 3 tonight). Last few games he takes it more off the dribble too.
It's historic for so many reasons, it is the first time triple double nba match in mexico and it is also broken Booker records 39 points, luka scored 41 ! And never ever in the history of the nba 20 year old man was putting this crazy numbers every night, and beside that his plays and games are so fun and watchable ! And source he is playing in average only 31 minutes this season, the other stars have more minutes !!! His is not hyped at all, he deserves all, that he is black and american, the hype would be much more, and laat year he would be all star and this season MVP. Only Greek Freak and him can be MVP this season if you see with what roster do they play and have such a good scores !
And it's the first time we saw two European players ( Luka and Giannis ) competing for MVP in a season. And both are still young. We might get used this in the upcoming season from now on.
There is only one player that get all of the hype. Kd averaged 35 ppg and played like a beast on defense in the finals but I espn chose to talk about was lebron averaged a triple double
SC Challenger But KD has Thompson and Green (elite defenders) on his side with insane offence of splash brother while lebron got what? Tsk tsk. Dis he do in in OkC? Nah.
he's not slow ..... it's called deceptive speed .... he's an insane athlete, but uses his brain instead of just speeding all over the place and getting tired ...... knows when to pause, when to change directions, when to speed up, based on his ability to envision a play before it happens ,..... he's playing chess in his head ..... 'if I go this way, that guy will go that way.... if I cut this way, the other guy will go that way, and I'll be able to do so and so ..... it's a gift
He is the man with the strongest foundamentals, that's why. It's like Reading a basketball book, he hasn't nothing special but Can do all he wants and all is needed.
She uses the stutterstep a lot to mess up the defensive rhythm. He also uses pick and rolls as well as his upperbody strength to create a positioning for his shot by pushing off the defender with his body.
You have to understand that Luka is using opponents athleticism against them. Forget about those days when muscles was everything. It is a brain time!!
Luka MVP, guy changed the franchise in his second year and he's destroying teams left and right in western conference that is stacked. Also that DUNK on Drummond, really glad for Porzingis he destroyed a contract year Drummond
Gombeen Luka not taking over anything, long as u have Bron, great freak, KAWHi, James harden, if Dallas makes playoffs win it or even get n to finals and he still playing like this MVP
@@rileyfreeman9726 He was saying that it's easier to score, which it is because of the difference in rules. Giannis is not a great one on one defender. He's a great help defender.
@@Panvezys but a lot of Europeans who look nice in Europe has never done this before. Ricky Rubio was a transcending player in Europe but when he came to the NBA he was good but nothing what Luca is.
Sounds like a low ratings finals and the NBA will not let that happen. Besides, if dallas look as though they are about to beat the Lakers, the nba will send the refs to make sure it wont happen
I'm not surprised if that happened he's playing like a top 5 all time great so far. If he continue to play like this in next 5-7 Years. I will consider him an automatic top 5 greatest of all time
@@tornadotornado7250 lets not get ahead of ourselves you cant put someone who hasnt won a ring or proven himself in the playoffs as a top 5 all time great, but i see your poi nt
@@mickeyari2628 I'm tired about being the top 5 it always mean to get a ring. So one ring isn't enough? I mean you know rings is a team effort not by just one person
0:45 seems basic but that's a really impressive play. Total court awareness. Didn't hurt that Morris basically pointed to where Luka should pass, but still to always have your head up & recognize opportunities, recognize it's Seth & he's hot, and to have the zip on the ball to get there in a hurry. Simple but very impressive.
My gf tried to tell me last year but I didn't listen smh... It's going to be Luka vs The Freak and Melo for who will be the best n the NBA.. and my money is on Luka
So glad I'll get to witness his entire career and be the one to give stories about THE BALLER FROM SLOVENIA WHO'S BETTER ENTERTAINMENT THAN WRESTLEMANIA LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKA DOOOOOONCIC!!!!!!
Increíble jugador, es muy inteligente, Lee muy bien el juego, toma decisiones correctas , en los momentos precisos, hace jugar al equipo y genera buena química, entre los compañeros y hasta con los rivales
Luka will eclipse dirk as the greatest mavs player before his 30s. This man is gonna check all the boxes as a top 5 player of all time by the end of his career. We are witnessing a future legend right here.
He plays at a steady pace. He's not explosive at all,no hops, not fast but he has a Paul pierce/Larry bird type of game. Can shoot, strong enough to carry a defender to rack to score, shifty and extremely crafty. Athleticism isn't everything
I used to enjoy waking up and watching the highlights of Giannis while drinking coffee , cause of the time difference here in Europe. Now i wake up and watch Giannis and Lucas highlights. What a fantastic season this is so far. Dream final Milwaukee vs Dallas
@@yosoymejor6388 I think the only two players he CAN'T be better than are MJ and Kobe. He's the 3rd greatest player ever already to me. His feel for the game even surpasses Magic and LeBron, and he shoots 10x better than either of those guys.
thsu8 I feel you but there is still that chance of injury or he falls off so we are going to have to wait til the end of his career to see where he ranks but the potential is great
