@@MagicSpartan1992 Lazerzz used to be my nr1 channel, but he just can't let go of the nostalgia of Ezio trilogy. They were great, but c'mon man move on. I got so annoyed of him ranting on AC3, just because he doesn't like Connor. Sure he's naïve and lacks charisme, but he truly lives for the creed and is a total badass. And like Luke said, the game had a lot of innovations. As far as his opinion on Odyssey, he makes valid point on it not being a true AC game, but it's a lot of fun. Replaying it as we speak and my god it is fun and addictive. Luke covers the good, the bad and tells you what you can expect and will enjoy depending on your view on AC. He truly knows what he's talking about and is a lovely guy to watch!

Completely agree! The lack in quality of side quests in origins actually made that feel way more grinds for me personally. Odyssey just felt like playing a game

Story is great but the game just isn’t fun to play anymore. At all. It’s extremely repetitive as well. Sadly just didn’t age well. But we wouldn’t have glorious AC2 without it

It’s genuinely not fun to play. Obviously this is subjective as can be, but many people, myself included, find it incredibly tedious and repetitive. And those fucking beggars or whatever they were genuinely made me want to try to refund the game

as someone who has recently played all of them for the first time, i can tell you that is definitely nostalgia talking. the game is SO bad. i was almost questioning if i was playing the correct game series until i reached ac 2 and was like OH that's more like it. the first game has great parkour, a great setting and terrific music. everything else is really, really disappointing and boring.

Many of the complaints that people hoist at odyssey and Valhalla heavily apply to black flag, also heavily applies to origins. They start to come off as excuses to hate a game, when ACs that you love have many of the same “issues”

I've spent the last three years playing through all the AC games, and Black Flag's story easily impressed the most, and it was probably the most the games lived up to their initial premise. The entire franchise is about a conflict between a group that favors freedom and a group who favors control, and pirates are perfect characters to examine the moral quandary of that conflict. Pirates have been painted as villains by history due to colonialsts using them as easy scapegoats that could be fearmongered against for political gain (even though most pirates were just regular people who were desperate for well-paying work); however, at the same time, pirates were also still criminals and often murderers, and any of their attempts to create their own society separate from mainstream colonialist powers ended in failure. They're a fantastic parallel for assassins I get that the ship combat isn't very "Assassin's Creed", but everything else very much is

I mean gameplay wise, it's an improved Unity engine, so if you liked playing unity even a little bit you're gonna like playing syndicate, for me I liked Unity's word design better (having the streets narrow and closer in comparison to London's wide as fuck streets) and Parkour is pretty much the same but a bit more realistic.

Well rogue has the same mechanics like AC4, for some people thats boring, other people put it in the same category with AC4 for exactly that reason.

Wow. I've been a fan of ac for a long time, but I played the first couple of games for the first time a month ago or so. I sincerely think they are better than most of the other games, by quite a long shot, so I think it's quite interesting that you think that.

I should add that I still like the story a lot but the gameplay loop gets pretty monotonous after a while. Worst offender being the villa upgrades that I just gave up on mid playthrough.

I disagree. Due to how much the old combat systems differed from game to game, I think improvements and minor changes would be better than the total reform of the newer games. AC as a franchise relies a lot on the different time periods in order to make the games exciting. I for one often find myself thinking things like "what would it feel like to have this game set in the persian empire?". AC had an amazing foundation with things such as the parkour that made exploring different cities throughout time incredible. The assassin fantasy will never grow old, and if ubisoft would've just steadily improved the base mechanics with each title, while switching up the locations, I think the franchise would've been better off than it is today.

@@sverrioross9327 Can you tell me how they could have possibly improved the old formula? You say that they could, but how? Also, we aren't getting Persia for multiple reasons, one of them being Prince of Persia (also made by Ubi) already exists.

The franchise didn’t “need” to be changed, it only changed because Unity was a buggy mess at launch, not to mention Ubisoft was releasing these games yearly instead of taking their time to make a better game, hence the buggy launch of Unity. It also changed because The Witcher 3 was a huge success so they tried so hard to copy it, emphasis on the “tried” because The Witcher 3 is still miles better than the last three AC games. You also wanna talk about mashing? That is literally the last three AC games. All you do is mash buttons because enemies are damage sponges now that can’t be assassinated if you’re under leveled. Mashing buttons and grinding is not how you make a game engaging. The fact of the matter is these games don’t belong in the franchise and are only there because by using the AC name they can sell a ton of copies.

@@Halosrighthand just look at how combat was done in ac 1 for example. Less mindless countering and more timing-based. Alternatively you could go for more of a stance-based system like in ghost of tsushima. Both games are engaging and require skill without losing the stylish gameplay associated with ac.
