Rockhold is an animal on the ground. The way he disconfigured machida AND a respected bjj guy in David branch is crazy. He’s strong AF when it comes to grappling.
@@mathew66 agreed, I watched it a few times and by the guy putting his leg in half guard had Luke thinking different when the first thing is watch the choke 😂. However Luke turned it up a little to get him back.
Luke toned it down since he was clearly bigger and more athletic, guy capitalized. Still was a freebie, just look at how fast Luke's submission came afterwards.
we was on the weidman fight that luke's grappling is way above weidman's. we also saw on the jacare fight that mousasi can be shut down by someone who's stronger than him
El Cucuy I'm not sure, but I find belts to be misleading when comparing mma grappling abilities because a lot of guys train no-gi so much that they are a low belt rank, but are extremely experienced.
MH, seems funny to be talking about Kevin Lee out grappling someone when Lee ended up triangled unconscious. Grappling is more than just wrestling and it definitely favors the better conditioned athlete. Ferguson breaks everyone down.
Samuel Busch I was rooting for Luke once the match started. First time I watched that guy Rodriguez, didn’t like him. I thought Luke would’ve guillotined him if Rodriguez was actually aggressive, but damn do I hate the Polaris format. It should be ebi rules, no jusges
Luke needs to try the no arm Ninja choke instead of the arm in guillotine its way more effective and almost impossible to escape where as the guillotine u can escape if sweaty
Jon Mcmann LOL no. The ninja choke is great against lower belts who don't know how to clear a collar tie or don't know how to keep their head in good position during a single leg or just generally. But it's not even that hard to escape - especially when sweaty. If you know how to grip an arm in guillotine correctly with an S grip, which Luke does, then it's way harder to escape and way higher percentage against guys who aren't fucking dumb. It's also easy to double attack with d'arce and an arm in guillotine. Get more experience before you try to tell what a black belt should do.
His bjj is phenomenal but in all honesty his wrestling is crap. He has a gard time getting anyone with decent takedown defense to the ground. That's why we hardly ever saw him get use use his bjj in his last 2 fights with Romero and blachovicz.
I actually just met him in my hometown just before he goes out tomorrow for Polaris 12.the guy is just like anyone else down to earth and it was refreshing to see someone who is generally disliked on social media be so normal and polite.wish him all the best .
A casuals guide to mma brian frumps thanks dude yeah maybe so but considering what I saw him playing with a fellow ufc fighters kids it was nice to see. I know he seems cringey and a dick on camera and I was expecting that dude but I was pleasantly surprised.
we don't see them train everyday day and i'm pretty sure theres footage of rockhold getting the better of him ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-08FleBkekak.html
That kind of mentality is the worst, getting tapped in practice = the end? People get tapped all the time; the important thing is to try to not let that happen again, learn from your mistakes.
He certainly didn't let him tap him. The other guy is clearly a high level jits player. He baited Luke into half guard so he could tighten the gillotine with more ease. A bit surprising Luke fell into the trap but maybe he didn't feel it was a threat until it was too late? Maybe thats what he was showing at the seminar since Luke loves guillotines. Certainly had every intention of escaping though.
