One day, you'll rise on a gorgeous sunday morning, birds will be chirping, and a small breeze opens your curtains just a tiny bit. You awake just enough to hear a tiny buzz on your nightstand. "Did I forgot to disable Discord notifications again?" you ask yourself. You want to snooze just a bit more, so you reach for your phone and thats when you read: "H.I. #137: A new Chapter"
"Thank you for watching all of our videos" Bold of you to assume I've watched 273 videos about various objects... I mean, I *have* done that, but it's still bold of you to assume.
It's call a Hanukia ( or candelabrum ), it has 8 stems + a single main stem which is lit first, then used to light all the others. The Hanukia is lit during the 8 days of Hanuka, always in the darker winter months. The Menora is different as it has 6 stems + a single main stem. The original Menora was one of the vessels of worship used in the Second Temple. Got carted off to Rome as plunder. A period bass relief of Roman soldiers carying the Menora can still be seen on the inside of the Arch of Triumph next to the Coloseum in Rome.
Man this video was a real treat to watch. I could watch you reminisce over objects in your collection all day every day. Thank you for taking the time to share with us these beautiful memories. I really appreciate what you do.
I love your story of the lightsaber! I especially love the absolute joy you express while talking about it. Maybe next time you'll tell us what's special about the Gameboy.
The Hannukah menorah is called a "Hannukiyah" :) During the 8 days of Hannukah, on the eve of each day, you light up one more candle each time (the middle, tall one is lit every day and is used to light the other ones), and place it on the window sill, so passersby can see the lights. It commemorates the victory of the Maccabeans over the Greek in Jerusalem in 164 B.C, and the re-sanctification of the Second Temple. Seeing it on your shelf gives me that warm fuzzy feeling of the holiday!
It's really nice seeing more of Brady being his true unscripted self, talking in a way that's less structured than his usual videos. It reminds me of Hello Internet. That cricket ball is very on-brand for Brady: "I love the fact that it's well worn, used, and still has some dirt on it. You can FEEL its history and past."
My second job was working at a Toys R Us here in the states (my first was carpet cleaning), and when I realized the store I worked at stocked the Force FX lightsabers, I realized that a lot of my paychecks were going to go right back into the store... fortunately, they did give us employee discounts (10%, which barely covered sales tax), but I can relate to owning Luke's green lightsaber. Mine is also displayed prominently in my house. Love you Brady, never change.
I'm looking forward to future videos where we get to see more of your treasures from the shelves. I love visiting someone's home and seeing their collectibles and knickknacks sitting on shelves and tables. It's always fun to find out what someone's nerdy interest is, sometimes someone you've known for a while, then you unexpectedly see a TARDIS or a Captain America bobblehead or a cozy mystery by one your favourite authors, and realize you have so much more in common than you realized. ❤️
I have a similar lightsaber that I made myself in my apprenticeship. It is also based on Lukes sabre but has a few changes to my liking made to it. Also goes anywhere with me and is an awesome souvenir to my apprentice years. It's also a good way to see some nicks and scratches in it and learn that I improved my craft since then.
I would love to know what happened on the Hello Internet drama. Definitely a sour spot in Brady’s life. Anyway, The Unmade Podcast is actually much more entertaining
Sour spot? It's an absolute highlight of my working life. Loved HI and still do... And still appreciate Grey's friendship and Apple advice! :) --- www.bradyharanblog.com/hello-internet
@@ObjectivityVideosglad to hear that. I miss the way the two of you work together, and I'm happy you're friendship continues. Hopefully some day we'll get more CGP and Brady content!
Except that official line of “we’re just having a rest” doesn’t work any longer. It’s been 3 years :) a shame you don’t offer your audience an explanation but it is what it is
@Objectivity no bee is safe from bradys apple devices. Was the hiatus a blessing in disguise considering the pandemic probably made life far less exciting for you?
I think I probably know exactly what store you bought that from brady, on rundle mall right down the end? was the games workshop in that arcade at that time?
Maybe its time to remake some of the bibledex videos with tim? That would be awesome! You've made newer versions of alot of the element videos after all :)
I'm intrigued by the framed medals ont he mantlepiece. What medals are they and who did they belong to? Assuming they weren't all awarded to Brady, I know he's got the Order of Australia but I don't know about any others!
