These guys are legit, and this arrangement is an absolute masterpiece. Only four parts, and it's perfect. I can't get over how well the alto just NAILS her part, which is easily the most difficult. The bass is also just unbelievably solid, you almost forget he's there. The soprano and tenor are also great, but the alto is the one who makes this an elite recording. When I first heard this arrangement I knew it was going to be really good as soon as I heard the dissonance on the word "asking" in the first verse. So many gorgeous crunchy jazz chords and they lock in so damn well. I'd love to find sheet music for this arrangement if it's published
This is what makes humans so special--beautiful music sensitively performed. In a world filled with so much mediocrity, hate, and cruelty, this is what people are capable of when they strive for perfection. What you see here is the very essence of the word "concert." Listen to this before you go to sleep and enjoy sweet dreams.
Goosebumps and tears! This is beauty. So tender yet powerful, warm yet surprising in its harmonies, this arrangement gives all four of you a chance to shine. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh my. This is one of my favorite songs. I started to play it and wondered how it had never showed up in my feed before. But unless it comes "pre-liked" I MUST have heard it before. This is just impeccable.
This is amazing and perfect. I hope Billy Joel has heard your version. Such a sad and beautiful song written fir his daughter. Your harmony is is creative and spot on. Very emotionally moving. Just lovely, all the way to the end.
This version has a touch similar to the Disney song "When Somebody Loved Me", especially in some of the note changes. I think it reflects the work they put into melding the beautiful melody and depth of feeling in the lyrics. They clearly thought this arrangement through. Awesome? Absolutely ... and more! IMO.
The King's Singers did a good version of "When Somebody Loved Me". It's not my favorite of theirs, that'd have to be "And So It Goes". That one hits me every time.. like hard. I think BYU Vocal Point did a version of it too if you wanna check those out.
Holy Sheite...!! That was fabulous! LOve that song, have listened to old versions of Kings Singers do it, New versions of King Singers do it, and more recently KIngs Singers plus Voces8 sing it, but whaddya know, this is my favorite now, Bravo. Gotta google you guys, get the scoop on you all..
Incredible rendition of this moving lullabye by a master songwriter. I love your tight harmonies - you are as close to a perfect four-part quartet that I've heard in many years. I have just subscribed so I can hear more of your songs. Thanks for making my Friday night!
Wonderful arrangement, performance, recording. Well done to everyone. Goosebumps throughout this beautiful rendition - but gee I got a lump in my throat when you hit that gorgeous chord at 3:53....
@ 2:10, and again @ 2:19 - Art Garfunkel voice. He'd be proud of the sound produced by this group. Billy Joel composed some particularly emotional material, "And So It Goes' just one other example, but this piece, sung by this group, is crème de la crème. So many accolades to deliver about this recording, one of which should be to the engineering crew who balanced the blend of voices to perfection.
My wife has just had a late term miscarriage. She sang this song one last time to our unborn daughter before she was sedated in the OR for her DNC. RIP Eliana 11-26-2020. We had to say goodbye before we ever got to say hello.
