What's up Marcos...you have helped me greatly over the at the v2 forum...I can not thank you enough...I actually sold my upgraded Sur Ron because this v2 controller was a more exciting experience...I put the money all into Pirate Chain, just at the right time too...cheers!!
What's your top speed on this with the V2 controller? I have a V1 controller with a voltage modification (15S3P) 12AH that gave me a top speed of 48 mph on the stock chainring. Looking to use the V2 if they'd ever sell it to me.
I get anywhere from 25 to 30 miles from my Sony vtc6 27ah 70 amp continuous triangle battery. The battery will sag if I go full throttle up hills for more than a few blocks in a row. I advise a 72 volt molicel cell (180 amp continuous)triangle to really push this controller...the problem will be the motor giving out in some way...hopefully, someone can build an upgraded plug and play motor core for the BBSHD to match these high performance controllers.
I don't know the diff vs stock. I have a stock bbshd on my 29in trek Excalibur 7, I weigh 176 lbs. My bike hits 33mph throttle alone no issue and if I peddle I'll hit 37 no issue and 40 with wind at my back.
@@budwhite9781 can u help me tune my Luna X2 Ludicrous is arrives today. My goal is to be able to go faster then my brothers Bakcou running the ultra motor, & be able to ride throttle for extended periods of time without over heating. I really need your insight
Hello I think that is a great deal. Just make sure your gearing is right. On fat bikes and 29ers 42t up front and 28-32t in back. I have used "Karl's special sauce settings" and have adjusted them to my own needs over time. The Eggrider display will enable you to quickly change amp settings, among other things. I think that deal blows the hell out of the stock set up. You might have to buy and install a steel gear to replace the nylon gear though.
Thx for the information 👍🏼, it's my first venture into the ebike world 🌎. The transplant is a 26" full suspension trek top fuel 8 2012, wish I had a fatty or a 29er. How does a 42 or 44 lekkie upfront and a big cassette like a 48 sound. Thx again for the help.
@@jerrera350 sorry so late...not getting alerts from yt at all anymore...I would say for a 26" tire setup to go 42t up front and 26t rear as a safe gearing for hills and flats. On a 26" set up with a huge cog in back, is only going to make your top speed drop substantially...for instance, my 29er with the same kit as you are planning on buying is setup with 42t up front and generally 28t in rear, and my top speed is about 25mph, but the torque is just right for flying up steep hills at 17 to 21 mph...if you are on a long flat road, then you can play with the smaller rear gears, and probably hit 35mph quite easily, depending on weight and wind.
Excellent controller that can switch to 48-52-72v with a few pushes of some buttons. No need for some additional controller hanging off your bike frame and more powerful too.
Yes, the V2. Top speed with the correct gearing would be 40 mph plus with a high amp 52v, or 45mph plus with a 72v high amp battery. The controller is so powerful, that if you had a 100 amp continuous molicel 72v battery, and you programmed the controller to 100 amps, you would most likely blow the motor core within a mile or so. I have changed the nylon gear to German steel gear, installed a stronger motor stator, put on a bunch of heatsinks, greased everything with high viscosity grease, and I still would not program it for more than 5000 watts.
@@budwhite9781 Nicee it came out very well. That fat tire sounds awesome. Everyone talks about them being inefficient for road use but they sound awesome especially with the knobby tires. I can't wait to get mine and start cruising around
@@dowblab Thank you. You are going to have a blast. I am not the most technical person, as far as settings for the GoPro. I have been working quite a bit and will put out some new videos shortly. Cheers.
I just watched a 9 minute video of a nearly $5000 bike that I can buy an $1800 bike that can run with it....What is the point? To prove you can go slower with more power?
My total cost for this build is $2000. Just google the specs on the V2 controller from Luna Cycle, and eat healthier foods. Your brain would appreciate it. Cheers.
Thank you for subscribing👍. I run a 42 tooth Lekkie up front and anywhere from 32-28-24 in rear, depending on hills or on flats. Tire size is 4.2" front and 4.6 rear. Cheers.
@@budwhite9781 Thanks for replying. You're running 52 gear inches. An 11 tooth rear cog would be 114 GI. Seems like you have plenty of power to push an 11. The top speed would be interesting.
@@geokrpan7527 Sorry, I no longer get any notifications from YT for some reason. I have run a 16t on the rear on flats and can easily get over 40mph with about 350lbs. of bike, battery, and me. The only thing is I like the huge torque of the bigger rear cogs for the stop and go and uphill riding that is common out here in SF. Cheers.
3kw M620, 46T on front and 11-51 cassette in the rear. I keep it clean and dialed in to shift fast and decisive. The shifter will multi shift both ways. So if I'm in high power and launching I'll start in 3rd (So the wheelie is controllable) and double shift to 5th 7th 9th then single to 10 and 11. Easily does 40+. Takes a lot of torque to overcome each mph at that speed. Over 42 mph and I'll get some chain skip.
Definitely try your best to get this incredible controller. With the VESC TOOL app you can customize your pedal assist and throttle to within a tenth of a second on many different settings...take off and stopping, etc.. You can also have multiple profiles, 750w, 1500, 2500, 3500, etc. So with a couple pushes of a button you basically have multiple electric bikes in one.
@@budwhite9781 ordering the bare bone motor tonight so may write a message to see if they will sell it . There picky who they sell to. Got to wait to buy a better battery as you kmow there not cheap. 72vs what i want with 20+ah really . 28ah would be ideal..whats your top speed with a 52v
@@thomasjurd4144 42 mph, then my 52v 27ah Sony vtc6 cell battery starts sagging. If you do get the controller, make sure to buy the steel gear and mobil 28 grease every gear in the motor. All 3 of my BBSHD builds are equipped with it, and they run super smooth even at high wattage and speed.
@@thomasjurd4144 I ordered a 72v 16ah Molicel cell triangle from litespeed capable of 180 amps continuous (future proof). It is the same size as my 52v 27ah which barely fits in my Kona Honzo build, so make sure your 72 will fit in your build.
@@budwhite9781 ohh great , dont know if there let me buy one . How many watts contin is your battery . My one is only 30amp 1000w contin . Going to need a 3000w min . Maybee a 60v with good cells . Will have to really look about as i dont want 3v sag
It is a 52v 27ah Sony Vtc6 cell 70 amp continuous from Litespeed batteries. If I had to do it over again, I would go no less than a 72v 16ah Molicel cell with 100 amp continuous minimum.
@@budwhite9781 im pretty sure the bbshd will release some magic smoke when running a 72v pack (really a 20s pack = 84v at max charge) on a 52V max system (per manufacturer specs)
@@BrogrammerBasics no, the V2 controller can run 72v batteries with a quick push of a button on the Eggrider display now. Also it can run 105 amps continuous. I am sure something in the motor will blow out first though.
