November through February is the best time to be in SE Asia. Though I like Colombia in December. In the SF Bay Area you can rent a bedroom in a low end area.
I do not like to hear people brag about being a nomad or things being “cheap”. They cause resentment and potential public opposition which can lead to unfavorable policy changes. I travel for the experiences and adventure as well as economic arbitrage. I always make a large effort to learn the language, culture and history. Humbleness and respect
