There was an eastern European deli I used to get piroshki from, they were goddamn DELICIOUS, there's not a Russian bone in my body but the food can be SO damn good. I've always preferred strong dark rye bread to fluffy white crap too, so maybe I DO have a Russian bone in my body somewhere hidden. :-/

Looks fantastic but Boston's a long way to go for lunch from the U.K.....and we're not supposed to leave home at the moment except for essential trips which that wouldn't be!

I grew up eating this. It was always the highlight of Aurunn to switch to the Winter soups from the Summer cucumber soups. With of course, the black bread. The best bread in the World! SMACZNEGO!

My grandparents came from Minsk and settled in Brighton Beach , Brooklyn and I grew up on these delicacies. Brings me back to my childhood

There was a great restaurant in Indianapolis - Russia House - babshka made everything... out of this world. Mushroom soup called 'julienne', Riga sprats, Georgian pate, salad Olivia, shashlik and cherry dumplings for desert.

It sounds like you have the same restrictions that I have (diabetic?), but I am nonetheless convinced that I need to find a Russian restaurant to try. I have discovered that there is a Russian market nearby, it's called "CCCP Market" and I'm heading over there on Monday. You are influencing my food decisions ... thank you! Cheers from Texas!

Way russian dad, every time when you speak about russian recepie you talk only Polish , Ucrainian , or other Russian neighbor . We are the same , we are brothers , we have almost the same food , we eat the same food . Way you don't say in your commentary even Romania ??? . With a lot of support .....Logan
