That calculator reminds me of the packaging art from that one really infamous Turkish Star Wars bootleg figure where the little 3.75" Imperial Gunner is posed in front of a calculator like it's a control station.

A nice feature of the upside down tray is the underside gives you a void to work with so if you wanted to do any lighting you could easily mount the battery compartments in a void and still have it sit flush on a flat surface.

Joystick, juicer... A 1960's German sci-fi production was using pencil sharpeners, ball-shaped pendulums and bath fixtures as controls. The central piece of the engineering console was an iron. It sounds ridiculous, but it made for a unique asthetic and design, and I really love that show.

DUDE!!!! I picked up a couple of RGB tube lights, the small RGB Lumicube knock off pocket fill light and a couple of those Neewer RGB panel lights myself. The look of the short demo video highlights those lights are great for filmmakers and they aren't that expensive. You make me want to throw a video together of the stuff I build over the years...Thanks for helping me want to Create Sci-Fi!!!!

This was a very very cool episode! Thank you. As you were building it, I thought what would have been a nice addition to the console would be some Dollar Store string LEDs inside the gaps, with some holes to let a bunch of light through at the three horizontal bars (on your 3D printed piece). Those look like a fuel guage, power meter, and shield status. Having some of the horizontal lower bars cut out in a variety of numbers (like 4 cut out in the first row,, 3 from the second row, and 6 from the third row) from the area closest to the juicer, then having the LEDs inside that tray underneath the 3D part lighting up would give it a lot of life. Yet still be No Budget, visually interesting, and vague as to its use. Especially as it isn't a hero piece, but over-the-shoukder shots would still be "active" or "alive". I very much enjoy your builds. I did a film in High School, around the time that Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was released. I did a parody of that for my class project. And, yes, I considered it a No Budget Film, because it was me and a few people I knew, and a couple of friends, doing this. AndcI paid for things from my pocket. Which came to about $20 in 1985. It was the best I could come up with (the camera was supplied by the school. Editing was done in the camera (😳). To me, anything under $100 is a No Budget Film. 😄 I love your channel, and I looking forward to your next episode. Be Excellent, you massively talented sir, and Party on! 🤘🎸😎🥳🌈

Using a juicer was a nice idea, after all one is clearly visible in the Thunderbird 1 launch bay. I would like to use a juicer to make some cool venting for 40k terrain. Great video as always Anthony thank you.

This is pretty much how they built the command-deck of the Satellite Of Love from "MST3K..." bunch o' random bits and bobs from every Minneapolis-area Goodwill or St. Vincent-DePaul. And as I watch this, I'm making a "Lycean Hero's Badge" out of a uniform-nametag and the the Patronus-component from the stand from one of those Harry Potter blind-bag wands. This'll look fantastic with a coat of Leadbelcher, a wash of Basilicanum Grey Contrast and a coat of 'Ardcoat.

Anyone who thinks they'll notice mundane items stuck together in a movie remember this: the PKE meter in _Ghostbusters_ was a shoe polisher with lights glued on it.

Always inspired to try by you. Why didn't you harvest the guts of the calculator and Joystick to add to the piece externally or your parts cache? You should see the cool stuff inside cell phones man .. instant rank badging and helmet comms. p.s i think you had it upside down

When you broke the screen off of the calculator I thought it might have been kewl to have a bunch of wires and maybe some kind of a fuse looking thing poking out of it to look like the mess it makes when you actually see a hot wired car.

Have you tried playing with strontium aluminate yet? It's amazing stuff, next-gen glow-in-the-dark powder. A single charge will keep it glowing for 30-90 minutes, and it comes in several different colour glows. It will also absorb UV while radiating in the visible spectrum, which means if you hit it with a tiny UV LED invisible to the naked eye, it'll glow essentially forever. I was just thinking it would be useful for you to make the symbols on your control panel here glow.
