Trees only sequester carbon dioxide while they are growing and if the wood is never left to rot. A forest produces no net oxygen as the microbes digesting the deadwood exhale carbon dioxide, same as you and me. Extant atmospheric oxygen was produced by blue-green algae millions of years ago, and only algae that sinks into oceans deep enough to prevent decomposition.

@@brettb9194 Yes but when they have grown the wood/timber is stored CO2 unless it is burned or rots ! You only need five trees per car on the road and CO2 from cars would NOT be a problem !

@@RJM1011 I have heard that not all forrest can absorb CO2, they in fact are a negative. Is it a lie or? I kinda don't get it. Next question is what to do with fallen leafs - take them or let them be (to deconstruct and fertilise soil). I mean, how can a dead tree produce more CO2 when every year it stacks layer uppon layer of dead leafs, wood parts. Can you explain that? Thanks.

@@ivobrick7401 ALL trees get rid of CO2 and there's a lot more to worry about than CO2 from a few fallen dead leafs ! Also yes they are GOOD for the soil. Thank you.

@@rb2964 who told you that? A large part is owned by people and the rest, even a larger part, is owned by the state (local town hall etc). But the weather can be really unforgiven in these mountains, so it's hard to operate drones all the time since you have to be close and it's hard for drones too. Most of the monitoring can be done by satellite.

@@Mario-hq6cl H,C,O are main components of earthlike life. The problem is, oxides of carbon getting increasingly poured into atmosphere and not into soil. You NEED that carbon to sustain life, but not in a way we pumping it into the air.

Forests run on carbon dioxide from atmosphere, basic photosynthesis you learn in elementary school. A growing forest will absorb CO2 while old growth actually emits a plume of carbon dioxide as the microbes digest the deadwood. The only way to take carbon dioxide out, leaving oxygen behind, is if decomposition never happens. In nature this is quite rare, although bogs do some work (anaerobic decomposition still yields methane or "swamp gas") below 200 ppm the trees will die off.

@@brettb9194 You've got that backwards....young trees are net emitters, it's only old growth forests that act as carbon sinks. Microbes digesting wood puts it into the soil, i.e sequesters its carbon. That's the nutrient cycle at work. The only places where naturally decaying wood is a net emitter is on flooded land.

Check the fog in the morning in the forest ,these fog goes up in the air and forest its like a magnet rain .
