Lupe is a highly enciphered, literary, writer. The average listener wouldn't fully comprehend his technique. Which is 100% of people. His layering and entendres are way beyond most people's understanding not to mention allusions. The allusions interconnect with so many different meanings, which explains why individuals don't catch his arcane references and overall layers. And the guy's homophones are bananas. Lupe is the greatest when it comes to Literary Devices. The sad part is that these individuals aren't even aware of what makes him so densely packed 🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾.
Njies from the UK does Lupe really well. He isn’t a bar breakdown channel he’s a reaction channel. But he gets Lupe first listen better than anyone else I’ve heard.
Interesting you brought up Stevie Knight lol He had a reaction to Daylyt’s LA Leakers joint. And couldn’t get thru it even with someone helping him catch the bars😂😂
@Cynthionic not to my knowledge. I'm a black metal gear STAN. So him twisting the monologues from the game to make them about black plight was particularly interesting to me
Knox Hill actually reacted to Lupe's Royce da 5'9 diss and did a spectacular job. I love DuaneTV, but he also reacted to Lupe's Royce diss and deleted it shortly after, lol.
Yeah blackish university does a really good breakdown I do highly reccomend checking him out, but ngl I do really love artist like lupe, aesop, and king Los cause they generally show when some reactors have no clue what's going on and others that do
I disagree on one point however Even though it is tedious to do to many, if people actually tried writing out a rhyme scheme a punchline or a scheme or writing that has a message in it You actually start to hear and see where artists are going on a song, deadass. When you understand the fundamentals for what’s going on, you have a deeper appreciation for what it is Especially if you then see and hear what these top level artists create. Or lyricists spitting crazy on a track For reaction channels, somebody who has written lyrics before will be perfect for Which I think is a reason reaction channels like MichelleShow, Knox Hill, etc. Will have such great reactions. Because they truly are catching the bars to every level the lines have
Nah, Lupe is the best rapper, lyrically objectively. And it ain't particularly close. You can argue someone like 3000 or Pac makes you feel more. But as for the words and techniques it's a landslide.
I agree, but I do think its pretty close, Aesop Rock is more complex and has a bigger vocabulary, (I think Lupe is better because of rhyme schemes and the fact he has proven he can do many different things lyrically, but its still close) and I'm sure there are rappers you and I have not heard of who are technically as skilled as Lupe. I just don't feel comfortable saying anyone is objectively the best, but if anyone is its probably Lupe
@Cynthionic agree that Aesop is better at what Aesop does than Lu at what Aesop does. But I think it's close there. But Lu also does what MFDOOM does. And what naS does. And what Jay Z does. Etc. That's why I don't think it's particularly close when you consider everything. Like King Los may have better wordplay, may have. But does he do an extended metaphor as well? Royce may be better at multi syllables, may be, but is he nearly as layered (like you pointed out on Failure)? No, not close. naS may be more descriptive in his stories, may be, but how are his entendres?
@@thetruest7497 I do agree with this, like i said if there is a greatest rapper, its Lupe Fiasco, but i think its ultimately down to subjectivity and especially for us who dont rap its hard to tell what really takes the most writing skill, but generally i do agree I think I just dont like making objective statements about who is the “best”
Consuming music the way these first-take YT reacters do is just stupid. There’s some benefits for sure, but it’s more negative than anything. But cant hate on them too much, gotta make a buck somehow
Not every Bar from King Los is comprehensive in order to ascertain his lines you'd have to recognize the technique, which already individuals aren't aware of nor comprehend. That's not including the meaning of his bars. You can't catch the meaning of a bar, but if you don't understand the technique nor literary device then it doesn't count. Also Lil Wayne, Dax, Eminem etc aren't comparable to Los objectively anyways.
