At the time that I wrote that I was pissed because I see dark skinned black women everyday that have to compete with light skin women. More people find lighter skin more appealing and prefer it over darker. I see black women that look her and no one seems to want them. Sure it could be because of other things also etc. To me she looks regular and nothing that is stunning about her. That could be because I can see the everyday woman and see beauty and not be illusioned by celebrity.

she is absolutely gorgeous. its funny, I saw her on Broadway and they did such a good job of making her look 12 it was almost ridiculous. they really didn't do much, she just looked like herself... maybe it was the atmosphere of the production. I would suggest to anyone planning on going to New York to go see Eclipsed if it's still there. its really simple, like not a bunch of props and what not, but its absolutely amazing and you get to learn something as well, plus you get to see Lupita in person, she is amazing.

Mark McKeown as a Kenyan I'd say the educated, middle class/rich (though I'd say mostly those in Nairobi) people speak this way. And I'd add that those who speak this way tend to be the youth i.e. 35 years and under. Of course these demographics don't hold true for everyone who speaks like Lupita. Fellow Kenyans any thoughts? Disprovals?

Well, I wasn't just focusing on the hue of their skin (though they both have INCREDIBLE skin); there's just something similar enough in their faces (eyes, cheekbones, smiles) and body frames that I could see them getting cast as relatives. So if you don't think they look alike, that's fine, I can see that too, but I think they do! :)

A fantastic performance by all, but Lupita really shone. Can't wait to see what she'll be doing next! Have to say, I took my mum to see this for Mother's Day... Thank goodness she enjoyed it and we'd been planning to see it since it came out.
