As much as I would love to say that the barbatos would wipe the floor, and the fact that the barbatos was used horribly in this battle, the strike freedom does have beam weaponry and is known for its speed and power. In close combat, the barbatos lupus rex would win, but in an actual fight the strike freedom would absolutely destroy it. Pain
problem is, this completely ignore the fact of nanolaminate armor, which even for grunt units has been shown to tank buster-level shots easily. What matters most is mobility, which flight-capable units, in gravity, have the advantage of.
@@jaymiechan exactly. In a hand to hand fight in the atmosphere without the special armor coating or beam weaponry, barbatos lupus rex might win, but that isn't considering space or the nuclear reactor that powers the strike freedom. All in all, we wish the barbatos lupus rex would win, but the strike freedom is simply leagues more advanced.
@@mr.mooseman8558 there's a reason i specified gravity, though. Both in space, that negates flight-unit superiority, especially since we know Gundam Frames have thrusters all over their bodies, enabling enhanced mobility in space. As for nuclear reactor vs twin ahab, remember that A) ahabs are fusion reactors, meaning that Strike Freedom's basically a walking wasteland of radioactivity that needs to release its waste, and B) Ahabs are strong enough to power battleships, and Gundam Frames have two of the things.
Uh nah more of a fan of the Barbie here but comparing how the two suits lasted in they're own series and for one how long can the IBO gundams even last power/fuel wise?
Also for this even if the Barbie can take the hits from the Strikes beam weapons, the strike has both A. Non-Beam weapons to damage it B. A unlimited activation of its Variable Phase Shift Armour. The Barbatos has No counters to that, while the Freedom does.
Akatsuki : What is this nanolaminate armor??? Barbatos : Its an armor that can tank beams Akatsuki : wow that's awesome!!(forgot that his immune to beams)
@@gojihead3195 Mighty Strike Freedom is just obscene cheating lol. Barbatos would have trouble against regular old Freedom and you want it to fight Mighty Strike Freedom?
many people arguing about these battle, please remember this is a GUNPLA Battle, their using a game simulation, it's like playing maxiboost on the power scaling is artificially generated, if they truly fight in real battle the sf would wreck barbatos definitely.
Completely agree. As a predominant CQB MS, Barbatos wouldn't even be able to come in close range. The Strike Freedom is too OP on distance and beam weaponry.
strike freedom would won has rail guns shells can maneuver air better and has burst mode and funnels are super fast and can blind sight or combine laser shots
After the movie we can kinda quantify what it would takes to overwhelm the strike freedom, namely: - mind reading + 2v1 tag team + multiple missile platform + antibeam armor + volture luminere equivalent mobility . 1v1 the sf probably could outclass most near peer suit
barbatus can't defeat the strike freedom because of riffles beams and etc. but how about much more now Mighty Strike freedom arrives, who could end barbatus easily without even moving from it's place.
Wait, but doesn't the Phase Shift armor make the suit virtually invulnerable to physical attacks. The Barbatos doesn't have any beam weapons, so the SF literally cannot be damaged by it?
Same with Barbatos, all the Mobile suits in IBO are somewhat invulnerableto Laser weaponry that's the reason all weapons in that anime are all physical attacks. The SF doesn't have any Physical weapons, so the Barbatos literally cannot be damaged by it if we follow your logic. But the invulnerablility of both MS has it's limits that's why when SF used one of its Dragoon as a knife, it was able to partially damage Barbato's shoulders. And SF is keeping a gap with Barbatos because even if it has somewhat invulnerable for Physical attacks, Barbato's Mace still can deal damage if used correctly. I hope this answers your question.
@@GM_RusakuThe IBO mobile suits are also somewhat invulnerable to physical weapon. In order to pierce the armor of mobile suits from IBO you need to have a very high caliber gun like colony laser equivalent caliber to pierce the armor. Regular rounds won't do jack shit to IBO units even with Strike Freedom's twin hip-mounted railgun as they are powerful, but not powerful enough to pierce Barbatos's armor.
@@Chronos_Eternia well there's two reasons 1. Barb is still armored and framed with powerful nondescript better than titanium metal so it can still take a few grazing railgun 2. the railguns arent often treated as a physical attack outside of seed and games, like it's usually just used as part of full burst
@@Geno014The better phrasing is that DRAGOONS don't work in environments with gravity. They cannot sustain themselves in flight in these settings. I don't think it was explicitly stated that DRAGOONS have this limitation but they are literally the same as Funnels in the UC timeline.

Bruh i think hiroto is a good pilot for destroying a freaking meteor unit. Freaking meteors can wipe out an entire freaking fortress. Sure, hashmal is a mobile armor. But the meteors are way leagues better than hashmal. Not to mention its a game logic but hiroto doesn't get damaged from barbie.
@@zephyr7693 probably because of bad animation portrayal, it feels like rex got absolutely dominated by freedom in this clip ( where he lose even in close combat ) and it felt like plot only saved him and gives a free hit at freedom. I mean a meteor unit has huge fire power im not complaining about that. But you need to also remember that wing zero before EW is able to demolish a colony as well ( although debatable since in EW he isn't able to completely destroy marimeia super shelter ). Funfact about hasmal ( idk if you can still found the post in facebook / data book in 2023 ) : Is that back in the calamity war its stated that agnika kaieru needs 3 batallions worth of gundam to be able to destroy a single mobile armor. While mikazuki + lupus limiter off is able to defeat hashmal single handedly. However as i stated above, that is only in a post that i read back then. If it turns out to be false then maybe mikazuki isn't that amazing after all.
@@william_riku well i kinda agree with ya. I guess im actually biased cause hiroto is one of my favorite pilots. I guess hiroto isn't leaning on close combat that much if you think about it. I mean he is an all rounder because of his gundam (core gundam). So he is basically balance in all range.

Isn't Strike Freedom has armour that make it immune to ohysical attack machine guns in his head with physical bullet and the 2 big rail guns on his hips? I think he just need to spam those weapons and dodge the close distance attack of barbatos 😂
@@ericx6969 it drains if SF get hit. So far we very rarely see SF get hit bcuz its so fast. And we never seen SF ran out of power since the nuclear power and the output is small. The question is, can Barbatos even dodge SF? SF surely can dodge any attack from Barbatos.
Man, we all knew that the Barbatos was cool, but seeing Strike Freedom out here running hands with the Barbatos just makes the Freedom even cooler.Strike Freedom versus Barbatos is an interesting fight as the mobile suits seemed to counter each other; therefore, I will argue in favor of Strike Freedom since I am more familiar with that series than IBO. The first thing to take into consideration is the phase shifting armor and its capabilities, which allow the complete nullification of physical type weapons as long as the mobile suit reactor can provide enough power. Additionally, color plays a role in this battle, as lighter colors tend to use less energy and have less defense, while darker colors are stronger, such as the colors of the Freedom and Justice (there's a reason why the Justice has a solid red color, whereas the Freedom has a lighter color scheme). This can be adjusted, however, as the Freedom could change its armored plating for more physical protection. Secondly, people believe that phase shift armor only works on small projectiles like bullets and stuff, but we have seen it literally block mobile suits from being rammed by others. Another point for Strike Freedom is its design, while it may not compare to the Barbatos specifically built frame for human movements, the Strike Freedom is based on the X100 frame, which incorporated human movements and had phase-shifting materials used throughout the entire frame, allowing for extremely flexible movement in the Strike Freedom. This should allow it to somewhat keep up with the Barbatos movements. Additionally, beam weaponry in Gundam Seed differs between guns and beam sabers. Beams fired from guns and beam sabers are different, so we don't know if the Barbatos can negate them. Also, consider the main cannon mounted around the belly of the Strike Freedom; it is not a typical beam weapon, but an energy cannon, which again we do not know if the armor on the Barbatos can block it.
Lupus Rex died to a railguns. The SF has 2 on it's hip, plus the inner frame is exposed. Everyone knows how accurate Kira is, probably the best shooter in the verse.
@guiltycross the rail guns in IBO are different to those in seed destiny thus we don't know if they would do the same amount of damage plus the fact that he survived those and continued fighting for a short period of time
@@lastdisbeleifcatzilla4869 rail guns are rail guns regardless, IBO gundams are not immune to physical attacks. Normal Railgun munitions are small so the SF can probably store tons of them.
@@lastdisbeleifcatzilla4869 i understand the difference in fire power. But IBO armor and inner frame are not gundanium alloy level. This simulation is just in a game-based gundam series. The real SF's phase shift armor will be a problem to the rex, it does not have any weapons that can damage that. Whilst the SF has rail guns- plus the pilot is too accurate for the rex to have exposed inner frame to easily target
Just one Disruptor head laser from Mighty Strikefreedom and Lupus Rex will be like Gojo in an instant lols doubt Nano Laminate can counter something that deconstructs matter
@@ExiaAvalancheMkII Consider its high energy enough to destroy Cal-re whole left arm in direct shot, which mind you that FT Armor is design to resist beam to some extent too like the Nanolaminate armor layer Barbie aint gonna survive much unless the pilot is Mika-level agile. @@danmakuusou9348 also add the fact the laser is literally invisible to the naked eye with its speed doubt even a limiter released Barbie would be able to dodge that
Strike freedom can't use dragoon in gravity conditions,so instead of sealing it off, using it as a beam saber is a wise move Variable Phase Shift technology applied to the frame too,so the fist of SF still pack a punch Under these circumstances, against a high mobility close counter Rex, it is no use to waste your energy on spamming beam to get dodge by Rex, getting the combat in close range and use the VPS to tank the dmg, while looking for opening to use beam to slowly exhausting Rex namo laminated armour, the tactics use by champion was the right choices
@@QienCho5566 it still can't justify shoving DRAGOONS like that. Why not he use railgun that Kira used to dismantle Destiny's sword in close range? That actually really effective against Barbatos.
@@Prime92 Nanolaminate armor melts when shot with beam weaponry, so Rex would eventually lose its armor under sustained fire from SF. Beyond that, SF has railguns that Rex has no defense against, and can fly. SF has an incredibly precise weapons system too, so there's basically nothing that Rex can do in this matchup besides getting hammered until either the nanolaminate melts off or the railguns tear it apart. Barbatos doesn't even have clear melee superiority; all versions of Freedom are highly mobile and competent close-range machines. Barbatos just has the big problem of coming from IBO, where all the technology is really weak by Gundam standards. There's a serious question if it'd be able to fight against even units from the late-OYW simply due to the ubiquity of beam weapons. Nanolaminate armor is basically the anti-beam coating on the Hyaku-Shiki from Zeta Gundam, which definitely wasn't an end-all answer to beam weapons and could just be shot through with even moderate beam weapons.

While the barbatos is a relic, it does have some properties that make it a bit more than a bucket of scrap metal, considering that with it's limeters off, it rivals the Exias Trans-Am. Unfortunately however, the strike freedom has phase shift armour, meaning that literally everything in it's arsenal is useless against even something like the normal strike gundam.
@@slimycake6405wait what? I can give it to barbatos being insanely fast with it's limiters off but I wouldn't call it "trans-am exia levels" of speed, maybe the lupus rex can beat exia via reaction times but not the speed. The 00 season 1 suits are already so advanced that it can "somehow" rival/stalemate the top Seed Destiny suits. GN drives magically decreases the suit's weight while increasing their maneuverability. Heck the s1 suits even tanked a whole day of non-stop artillery bombing. Season 1 00 suits are bonkers, they could've continued dominating the show had it not been for Ribbons/Alejandro leaking the GN drive info to the Earth.
That's the thing, you have to get close to it first. Freedom has the best speed and reflexes on any CE Gundam, and it's pilot tactic is always about long range engagement so it can easily escape anywhere, not to mention Barbatos is never equipped for long, endurance battles, while SF does with its Nuclear power source. So Freedom got the air superiority, unlimited duration of them.
@@MuhammadKharismawanAll freedoms armorments are beam weapons which should have absolutely no effect on barbatos. Freedom is faster but would differenately loose in close combat. Nanolam has tanked 100-120mm fairly easily before. In universe you see reasons that both the nonchalant zero damage the Freedom takes when in lore they use most of the phase shift internally and maximize maneuverability and pilot protection instead of tanky armor and the severe wear and tear on the rex JUST from the guns (I got the number wrong initially, they are *way* weaker than I thought) is pretty insane cope

BLR wins.. Why? *Beam weapons are useless *The SF Gundam doesn't have Physical melee weapons that could damage the NLA of Lupus Rex. *The VPS armor is not immune to Rip and Tear combat style of Lupus Rex. *What about the railguns? They just bounced off Lupus Rex's Ultra Large mace.. 🤷🤷🤷
IBO fanboy spotted. Barbatos loses every fight, it's not even a contest. - Nanolaminate isn't the end all be all defence against beams, it can be worn off - Phase shift armour has been stated to be completely immune to physical attacks, which is what Barbatos specialises in. Nevermind the fact that Barbatos should never be able to get anywhere near the Strike Freedom in the first place - The railgun would realistically go through the mace, seeing how it goes through battleships with ease. It didn't because it's a gunpla battle without taking the respective universe's tech into account

Lupus Rex would definitely win, why? Strike Freedom sure is "faster" but it have LIMITED energy, as the opposite to Lupus Rex which has UNLIMITED energy thx to it's double ahab reactors. Did you forget that Mika fought 3 whole days and nights in Lupus? And the only thing that stopped him is fatigue? "No, Strike Freedom has phase shift armor that makes it immune to physical attacks!" Yeah? And what did it cost to have that kind of defense? ENERGY. When Strike Freedom is out of energy, it will be a sitting duck for Lupus Rex. "But Strike Freedom also have railgun cannons on it's skirt armor!" Correction: BEAM railgun cannons, not PHYSICAL railgun like Dainsleif. Hell, even a normal MS coated with Nanolaminate armor paint could tank a Mobile Armor's beam attack which is a slightly weaker version of Unicorn Gundam's Beam Magnum shot. Edit: Strike Freedom winning is such a BS, and of course there IS a reason with such BS; because Seed Gundams are Bandai's golden goose. Just look at how Bandai milked Seed gundams like crazy.
You're high on copium bud. The Strike Freedom was explicitly stated to never run out of energy in the anime. The only nuclear powered Gundam that runs out of energy is the Destiny because its wings have a higher output than its reactor. No other nuclear powered Gundam in Seed or Seed Destiny runs out of energy. The railguns fire physical projectiles, as they're developed from the Freedom's railguns, which would you have guessed, fire physical projectiles... You should stop smoking whatever you're on.
