The biggest cod of the year so far - Fishing on a stormy day near Amble on the North East Coast,
the wind and the rain made it a difficult but thoroughly enjoyable day with a lovely lump of a fish to finish things off. I had to work hard in pretty rank conditions but the weedless shads and metals came up trumps as usual bringing plenty of cod and a solitary pollack to the kayak

THIS IS MrBear from florida . glad to see you got out ,nice cod by the way . i have not been out for allmost a month and a half dam wind 10 to 15 to 20 allmost every day it mess up my kayak turnament,tring to get out this weakend.by the way you said you got chilly ,i wish 95to112 for the last two and a half months. good luck to you and yours stay safe.

Hi mate how are you? It’s been a windy hot year here as well! It was 40.2c yesterday (104f) which is a UK record. In typical uk fashion though it’s dropped by 15c today down to 75f! Hope you’re well 👍🎣

Brilliant as always! Just sitting on my balcony having a beer in Jersey and it is lashing down so watch your videos and I’m striking on the balcony! Haven’t caught one yet lol. Definitely going to get one of those kayaks so when you have time if possible to send me the set up you have on everything. Would be much appreciated! Love all the videos but mainly your humour especially when one gets of which is rare and amazing how you don’t swear. All the best to you and have a great Sunday!!

Hi Glen, thanks very much I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. It’s a great way to fish. If you look in the video description you’ll find my full set up there for each trip (this years videos anyhow) you’ll also need a drysuit, a pfd and a waterproof, floating VHF. I absolutely love it, I’ve had some really memorable days on the water. Remember to stay safe, you can always go out another day (or fish off the balcony!) 👍🎣

Watching this and it's 31deg, in Cullercoats and you feeling the cold out there lol.A bit slow session for you Chris, but to others it would be a good session. That cod made a slow day a whole lot better. Keep 'em coming pal, tight lines.

Nice one, it’s a real mixed bag of ground out there, that rock at hauxley point stretches way out doesn’t it!! That cod was a belta top job!!

Yeah it goes out a long way. It’s broken up as well so you might think you’ve reached the end then it comes back up again a hundred yards later. I was glad if that chunk at the end mind, felt like I’d earned it! 🤣🎣

Hi Chris, Enjoying your kayaking video's. Could I please ask what you use for your sound recording & video, it's very clear. My son would like to video next years holiday from his canoe & it might make a good idea for Christmas? Thanks in anticipation!

Hi Dave, I record the Video on GoPro 9/10 and the sound is on either a Zoom H1n stuffed in a plastic bag in my pfd pocket with a lav mic or a Zoom F2 stuffed in a similar bag in my pocket with a lav mic (F2 comes with a very good lav mic) I sync the sound up in the edit. Hope that helps 👍🎣

Hi mate, thanks very much I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. With regards the scent it doesn’t really matter which you use. To be honest I’m not even sure the scent has any impact at all. I’m just messing around with it, I never used it before this year 👍🎣

really enjoying as a new subscriber to the channel - I have seen a lot of kayak fishers use crates - H_Crate etc but you dont seem to is this a conscious choice based on your type of fishing ? Would you recomend a crate to carry extra gear

Hi Mark, thanks for the sub. I’m glad you’re enjoying the content. I use a cheap storage box instead of a crate simply because it’s got a lid on and keeps my sandwiches dry! 🤣. To all intents and purposes it’s just the same as a crate but as I say it’s waterproof as well. When I use the sturgeon I have the fish finder battery in there and I keep all of my GoPro batteries and power banks in there too. 👍🎣

Great video there. Cracking cod aswell. Do you ever fish for bass around Northumberland. I use to live in Berwick but live in jersey now never fished too much around Berwick but do a lot of bass fishing in jersey now. 👍🏼
