Thanks Hutch, I enjoyed my short session on the canal! Keep an eye on my channel for a few videos I am planning on doing soon where I'm going to be searching for a big canal perch! I know where they are but I just need to catch one! Thanks again for your kind words!

Hi mate! You done really well! Glad to see someone with lot of experience willing to learn from the new generation. If you take an advice: some times cast out the lure 10-12 meter forward, where tou heading and just bounce the lure back on the bottom. You improve your chance to catch a couple of little jack pikes too. So great to fight with them on ultra light setup. If you just walk next to your lure, you scare away the pike from the shallow. But make sore you have a 0.33 + fluorocarbom leader.

you can see in my latest video how I do micro lure fishing for perch. Yesterday I caught 3 pike and 23 perch. It was a sunny bright weather, so i tried to fish waters with shadow, under trees etc.

Thank you! Yes, the way I look at it is that it does not matter how much experience you have, you can always learn something new from any other angler, regardless of their experience! We should all get along and help each other. Sadly, some anglers on Facebook and other social network sites are so bitter and nasty towards others and it's such a pity! This is the reason why I hold comments for approval on my channel, there are some horrible people out there and I also encourage kids to watch and learn from my videos and some of the comments I have had have been disgusting! Just bullies in my opinion! But thank you for that advice, I have wondered if I were scaring the pike away. I will try that in future. Thanks for your advice! Tight lines, sounds like you had a great session, keep catching my friend!

Nice mate! I was doing the same in central london last week. Noticed they really respond if you plop the lure into the water: instant hits!

Thanks Gaz! The bigger ones are there somewhere, just need to find where their holding up! I have had a few on that felt a bit bigger but they head out for the middle of the canal and the hook pulls! I'm sure they are perch and not small jacks! Hopefully I can get one in the net. Even if they are only a pound, I would be more than happy with that! Maybe when it gets really cold I can locate them a little easier! Hope your well mate!

I do enjoy perch fishing as I tend to get a lot, micro jigs are the best I find but using bigger jigs and lures gets bigger fish, just fewer Iv found :p

Great vid mate. Just getting into lure fishing for perch. Been out a few times but yet to catch on jigs. From what you mentioned about the conditions I think I know where I've gone wrong. One pond I've fished is Crystal clear and I've fished during bright conditions, I did observe packs of small perch following the jig but no takes. The other lake isn't quite as clear but very weedy with only a few small fishable deep areas had a couple of takes but yet to land a fish. Neither lake is suitable for vertical jogging due to shallow weedy margins. I'm sure I'll suss them out eventually and find a tactic that produces takes, then I'll start to put some videos of my sessions up. ATB Steve.

Thanks Steve! Yes, I do find on brighter days that the perch don't respond as well and the takes you get are not half as aggressive as on days with lower light levels. If it has forecast a bright, sunny day I then try to choose my session time more wisely, although this is not always possible for family reasons - we all have a life away from fishing! But if I can, the last few hours of daylight, once the sun is not so high in the sky seems to be better and the perch respond so much more. I find evenings even better than mornings and I put it down to the overnight temperatures being so low, especially in shallow clear water. During the day the shallows will warm up so I feel more confident fishing in the evening for these reasons! Your lake sounds interesting, if you can find a slightly deeper marginal spot, maybe a foot deep, then in the evening it's worth dropping your jig into a hole in the weed! But casting to features is also very productive! You may like to check out one of my other video's - Small Lure Fishing for Perch - The basics! It's on my channel and I fish on a lake, using casting and vertical jigging! I will give you a sub for when you upload video's of your own! Thanks for your comment and tight lines!

+Lee Rudge Angling Adventures Thanks for the reply. Life outside fishing really dictates fishing time so not always ideal conditions when I get the chance to fish. I did put up a video a while back from session on my local pins using spinners. The area I fish is the deepest part of the lake, the rest is 2ft or less and choked with weed. Thanks for the sub. Not a problem, I always reply even if it takes a while lol. Yes, it's the same for me, family always comes first but it's the same for us all I guess! My fishing has been cut right back this year, hence the lack of recent videos! Brilliant, I will take a look at your video! The canal I fish in the video is less than a foot deep in the side in places but I still get takes although I'm sure this will change when the winter comes and the water is gin clear! I used to avoid shallow water thinking that I wouldn't catch but I found that if its deep enough for them to swim in as well as feel safe then you will find fish in water as shallow as six inches, especially at night or in low light and if there is cover like weed or tree roots or branches that are submerged! No problem for the sub, I will look out for any of your future vids! All the best and tight lines!

Thanks as I am struggling at the moment just catching the odd one or two and blanking a lot.

I was blanking a lot until I tried this, just keep things simple - most of the time their right under your feet!

I like to use passive soft plastics for this marginal method of jigging rather than swimbaits, the Nikko-Kasei Pin Worms in brown are deadly for this method
@LR-Fishing
@LR-Fishing 7 лет назад
Thanks for watching, Peter. Yes, I agree that those type of soft plastics are probably better for this style of fishing. I used a swimbait because the lad I was chatting to was using the same and when I copied that it worked well! I will give the pin worms a try though, thanks for the advice!
