Chris Cleaver came to McCallum's Tackleworld Nowra to pass on his knowledge about how to catch Jewfish. Chris is an expert at these fish and with these tips, it won't be long until you start to figure out these estuary ghost!
To whoever put this info on RU-vid. Thank u. I am a very very experienced fisherman. I have skippered commercial longline boats and charter boats for years but I am always learning. Great info here for anyone chasing Jew. Even guys that have a good idea what they doing
Especially the moon phase tide thing. Obviously they don't eat just once a month. Very obvious when U think about it but something I didn't factor in nearly as much as I should have
"Absolutely the best info talk I've heard and watched about Jewfish". I live in Brisbane now but used to fish the Shoalhaven heavily in my young days (40 years ago) when most rods were solid fibreglass - I had a Jarvis Walker "San Remo" 7 foot (still have it). Lived at Bomaderry, and the Millkhole and Horlicks were mullet school jewel spots. Nice to hear the old fishing locations mentioned. Thanks for taking the time to video and upload.
Ty for sharing..caught 5 jews last weekend..12 to 15kg all released. Been trying for years with no results so watched this trying to figure out what I did right 😂😂
ive fished with a mate in his boat a few times, and when its quiet we don't seem to get many hits. but when we crank some metal with some baits we start doin better. any reason why?
Thanks for sharing! You mention 8 to 12lbs braid.. Isn't that light for Jews? I hear people usually use 30 to 40 lbs main line with a 60 lbs leader. Wouldn't most Jews break those lighter lines?
Some braids are not accurate breaking strain rated 10 lb can break at around more like 15-20 lb I bought some 10lb braid myself just this week tested it and it didnt break until 14lbs on a scale so dont trust whats on the label you may end up breaking your rod .
