You don’t know me but I will always remember and respect you. I am a recovered alcoholic with over 20 years clean and I remember when you lost your friend, you really tried to help him and that could have been me so much respect sir. I fish at night on Wylie and it’s my favorite time to fish. The jet skis and all that nonsense is done for the day so it’s very peaceful. With all the hate and negativity going on in the world fishing let’s me get away from it all. Everything you mentioned is spot on and I have caught so many bass at night if you haven’t tried it you really should. And while fishing for bass at night I have caught some big catfish hit my bass lures so be ready. Thanks
Bo , youre right about what you said , All Due Respect in the most Respectful way possible i would like to point out that i feel most anglers make the simple mistake of they fergotten about scent because fish can smell your bait from over 2 miles away. i mean some of the best catfish i personally have caught i caught them by trusting scent. prime example for new years day 2022 i Texas Rigged a lil smokies sausage on a treble hook and caught a catfish at sunset. so scent can make a difference. just saying
I'm a big night fisherman. I love using the chatterbait, topwater, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. I also started throwing soft plastics with rattles on them. I've definitely had a lot of luck with the chatterbait, though.
20-25 yrs ago when I was a young man fishing tournaments on Shasta Lake, Ca. I used the bead on the Texas rig, still use no matter what time of day, that rattle is always welcome cause it's not massively big. Great vids man, keep up the good work 👍
I caught my first bass when I was 4, I have been fighting for bass, catfish, crappie. I learn something every time I watch one of yours, thank you keep it up.
I'm relatively new to bass fishing. I've been learning so much from you. Thanks for explaining how to rig this stuff up. It's made my fishing experience so much better.
Heck yeah Gene!! This is excellent, thank you so much. That's how we do it all night in Texas!! Big Perm! The Texas rig with the bead is a new one for me, ill be purchasing 50 beads tomorrow now lol! Thanks man! Fish on sir!!!
I've spent alot of time fishing illinois reservoirs in deep summer from 9pm to day light. I keep it simple, 1/2oz black on black jig n pig. Catch more bigger bass on that lure than anything. I like to keep the deck clean for safety so I usually only bring 2 rods. Both jig rods.
Dude!! I now have a mini man crush on you!! Lol - You mentioned the Jitterbug!! I learned about the Jitterbug prolly in the 70's & have been fishin' a BLACK one at night since 1980! The size just below the Musky size & I learned to modify the bill with a pair of pliers to get a better "gurgle!" NOTHING has out performed this bait for me at night ever! The blow ups at my feet have been epic!! (Must be stealthy, quiet & NO light!) 2'nd. Your bead mod on a Texas Rig is nice! Never thought of that & WILL try! I knew I picked a great channel to sub to!!! Just to add... I am a bank fisherman. NO NEED for a boat at night BUT... Be careful! Snakes can see/sense you & you'll see them from a distance swimming toward you! MOVE when you have to! (I've been bit 6 times. How dedicated or stupid are you??)
I’ve had absolutely no luck at all with anything Black and Blue. I’m in South East Illinois so not sure if that has anything to do with it. Bass here like white the best no matter what the water conditions are that day. I wanna say thanks for all the wisdom you’ve taught me tho, Sir. I got 2 toads last night with your tips
Cool vid! My favorite night bait is a hulagrub, 3/16 weight. Can be drug, hopped or swimming, depending on what the bass want. Also, Yamamoto 5" green pumpkin with a fluorescent chartreuse tail!
I used to night fish from a water scamp with a black light and I would use stren clear blue line and it looked like a rope and I used 7 inch black power bait worm
Awesome! Took plenty of notes and ready, so “put me in coach”! Going to pack and give night fishing a try this weekend! Keep it up brother and Go Dawgs!
Awesome video Gene, love the idea of the bead on the Texas rig. Found your channel just a short time ago but am here to stay. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
@flukemaster great video, thisnisnour first year fishing night tournaments and we haven't done great once it's dark. You said turn your headlamp off because it will spook the fish. We have 15w lanterns pointed toward the bank. Does this spook the fish? Maybe it's why we suck at night. Thanks for your videos.
No prob, lol I’m glad your teaching the community more interesting ways to catch bass just giving you a little bit of a hard time :) thank you for all you do
Fluke Master , i have learned so much from watching Fluke Master , Bill Dance , Scott Martin Randy Blaukat ,Tactical Bassin here on youtube then i would at a actual school fishing classroom. I would like to say from my own experience that 1 mistake i personally feel anglers make is that they dont trust and or rely on scent. i say this because i have had days where i would use very scenty baits loaded with scent and i ended up catching 3 to 5 catfish then i had days where i didnt use scent and still caught them , im not saying you cant catch them on non scented baits by any means. im just saying dont forget about scented baits like lil smokies sausage or hotdogs and you'll slay 3 to 5 catfish ina single day.
You're killing me.. jitterbug has been my go to, as long as I've been fishing.. I'm 48.. the hula popper and there floating type buzzbait have a box all to themselves
That’s some solid advise, I’ll have to try the rat swim bait, I keep hearing a lot about them. I always thought they where just one of those one hit wonder baits.
Im from louisiana fishing around toledo bend close many what kind of bait would I need for night for my type of climate and what what I need for day time im new trying to teach my self at 33 never had no one to show me and I watch your videos at work or just anytime lol love the videos and how through you are so I figured you'd be the one I have to ask and should I use a heavy weight if the current is kinda strong
Every video I watch talks about a jig, I live in Florida, and I have to be the only man to be skunked on a jig, to the point I don’t throw em. I reckon I can’t fish or something😂
Keep things simple things can go wrong quick at night....black and blue spinnerbait with a large black colorado blade....10 inch junebug worm texas rigged....and a junebug trick worm on a 1/4 ounce shakeyhead....i stay away from any bait with treble hooksat night
So if I'm on a bank, do I shine a flashlight into the water, and they group around that spot in the water, or do I simply have a lantern on the bank, and they are attracted to that?
You have your thumb on the spool the whole time/know or feel the spool slowing down. You also just have to accept it will happen more because you can't see if your lure is headed towards a branch at 100mph until you hear it.
He is totally right. I new this for decades and decades. It is actually big secret. And he is telling that. He is not going bla bla bla for 15 minutes for nothing,
