This is huge. I work on the backend of the beauty industry. Beauty companies are completely driven by social media now. It's all about profits. Lush is beyond bold for doing this.
I adore lush, their products are genuinely fantastic, i don't ever mind paying more for them because the quality is so high and the company is so cruelty free.
I copied a few of their items diy and it’s really hard to match their quality for the price. It should be illegal to have so much fun with that one glittery pop rock bath bomb for only 7$.
@@sweetsugarjones that’s certainly true. They can achieve such economies of scale that it makes it cheaper to buy than to produce at home. Well unless you’re making an obscene amount
@@avarmauk That’s exactly what I ran into. I imagine they have better sourcing power than I do, and get a higher quality of ingredients. I bought my baking soda in the bulk bins 😆. I remember the name of that bath bomb now, it’s called a Dragon’s Egg ✨. I would consider it a miracle if I could do a decent copy of that one, but did successfully backwards engineer a few others. I’m happy to support them for the rest, there are so many things I like there.
Do you have any products you recommend? The products look very cool but I was always kind of overwhelmed. I have the skin of a baby lamb, super sensitive
I think it will actually make them seem more exclusive. It’s too easy to see it on social media and become desensitized, turn away from buying their product. Now we have the task of actually looking for it and curiosity sets back in. Brilliant business move!
You realize they left social media to SILENCE the whistleblowers who where starting to speak out about their harsh working conditions, their civil rights violations at their manufacturing plants, and their deceptive ingredients line up right? This whole "We are leaving social media to spark change" is all a scam....
6 years ago I quit all social media. Best decision of my life, and for my family’s lives. Would love it if all business went back to marketing as if social media didn’t exist. Remember how fun word of mouth was? The buzz behind it? Bring that back.
This is what you sound like. I didn't like the shows that some channels were broadcasting so I decided to throw away my whole TV. I don't know how to change the channel so I decided to throw away my whole TV. It's like you had no clue that you could customize your feed so you saw only what you wanted to see.
@Liz bth I have never heard anyone in my entire life say they got rid of their television because they have an addictive personality. This is a generational problem. It's not something you should be proud of. You have such little control you are unable to change your channel
@Liz bth don't you people have hobbies? Do you do Home Improvement do you knit do you sew do you craft do you wood work? Customize your feed around your hobbies or you could use it as it was first intended to just keep track of and keep in touch of your family. If your mental health is so fragile that you need to delete social media because you can't handle what you see you have other major problems you should address
@Liz bth so why are you on RU-vid? Not only that why are you in the RU-vid comments section? Do you understand that RU-vid automatically customizes your feed? You've watched this video and now you will receive more videos like it in your feed. God you people really need to grow up
I know Lush has been socially aware of everything that’s going on, but turning off the “connection” instead of connecting to the wide audience is what we need sometimes.
@@TheLilaGrace Absolutey not an MLM company 😆. I have been buying Lush products for over 25yrs! They are the only products I can count on to be handmade. MLM Bwahahahahaha ✌out
I have to give them a round of applause here. This could very well spark a needed change online. I miss the days when people could go with out their faces shoves in their phones.
@@CadaverQT That is not relevant to my comment. I am speaking on the fact that people are unable to put their phones down long enough to respect, enjoy, and participate in anything. Two totally different topics here.
@@trusound170 Touchy. My point is that you don't know what they're doing. It's relevant because ppl complain that nobody is present, but they could be busy doing way more important things. Who wants to sit around doing nothing at the doctor's office or at the train station when you could be donating to a cause, journaling, learning something, watching a performance or virtually anything else? Maybe don't be so quick to dismiss others. You wonder why no one wants to talk when you respond with hostility. 🤷♀️
@Him You mean on a date? Well, no. I'm broke. Can't afford to draw breath hardley. OR shoot myself? Well... no. People depend on me. What's the next solution. LOL
This is what we need in this world today. Things have gotten too out of hand with social media. It's time we learn to dial back for our safety and that of our loved ones.
Lush is really stepping up their game. They're passionate about their goals, a brand that promote healthy living. It's proves that social media are not everything, if you have a good product people will buy no matter what.
We as a society have become so consumed by social media that we don’t even care to communicate with people around us. I think more companies and people should get off social media and focus on their lives surrounding them.
I completely agree! I left the popular social media platforms earlier this year and have no plans to get back on them. It's toxic! Good for Lush for doing that and going old school! 👏🏻
I have shopped at lush for years. When I lived in MD, their products were the only thing that soothed my irritated eczema in the winter. I will always support and recommend their stuff.^^
This is amazing, I agree 1000%. I miss those days of reading flyers and circling items I wanted to purchase. Social media is toxic, and runs most of everybody's lives.
@@SlothnSteel youtube is a lil diff for me. I subscribe to the channels that suit me. I watch more tv shows, beauty tutorials, and news related topics!
I love this! I’m a small business owner and I quit using social media a year ago. Now I’m fully booked and turn away new clients. This was the best decision for my business and mental health.
@@tikdoe7563 word of mouth and I have great reviews on search platforms. Once I stopped worrying about taking photos, getting followers, editing and posting. I had more time to focus on my clients. I started to feel like I wasn’t successful in my career, because I didn’t have enough followers. Now I know, that wasn’t true at all. I hate how social media made me feel like I wasn’t good enough. I don’t miss that at all!
Well done Lush!!! I closed all my social media accounts, fb, Twitter etc years ago, now I only browse now & again on RU-vid. Best thing I ever did was to let my mind relax away from all the fake lives & egos on social media. I hope other companies & people follow your example.
I applaud Lush for this forward thinking decision, I hope they see a BOOM in sales following this!! Thank You "Lush Cosmetics" for being Brave and actively standing behind what they believe!!
i haven’t had personal social media in almost two years. as a 17 year old, people found my choice dumb, but now i only have social media for my jewelry business. if i could have 0 socials, i would.
It’s a publicity stunt. They’re trying to silence whistleblowers by showing the public that they’re a ethical brand when they’re not. And lush does this every few years-they end up being back on social media
@@Mimi-el8zv Hi there🌳, I hope this isn't true.🙏 But thanks for sharing this info, because I just left a comment before seeing yours, supporting their move away from an AI tyranny society.👌 I had never heard of this company Lush BC I am not wrapped up in consuming products, nor am I on social media - with the exception of you tube, of which I may be leaving too, BC it's looking more and more to be a censoring dictatorship like all the rest of mainstream media platforms.🙅 If what you say is truth, then I hope they are called out by their" followers" for being liars and wolves in sheep's clothing, if they do indeed rejoin those former platforms. That said, even if this is a marketing ploy and an insincere move of consciousness raising....the upside is that every time they make this declaration....they DO indeed influence the minds of people to consider the danger of handing their lives over to AI supercomputing cyborgs paid for by n.w o elitists. So....even if 10,000 more humans leave the b.s. BC of this marketing move statement ...it is putting humanity in a better direction. God knows that if people get lured by Yuckerbug - Luciferian vampire- into his meta verse (meta= death)- they won' t be getting out of it. Owned by AI and tagged and tracked with every breath and step.
Wow. This is very admirable! My aunt uses their products and highly recommends them. Just for the fact that they are taking this step is enough to make me wanna go support their business. I do like their little toothpaste tablets. My aunt let my kids and I use them on our trip to California. Again, kudos to lush! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
@@bm4867 I stopped using Facebook, Instagram and don’t tend to get on Twitter and tiktok more than 3 times a week. I started limiting my exposure to social media years ago and I’m better off for having done so. If someone wants to support a business that doesn’t use social media because they respect the company for doing so, I don’t see why it matters to you.
I might shop there now just because this is such a powerful move and I really respect their decision to take the wellbeing of their consumer over the neverending social media archives
They give samples! I have super sensitive skin and feel safer being able to try things first before buying the whole thing. My top favorite to try; Sleepy Lotion! Anything from their "Sleepy" line! Have fun! 🐱
I do buy from Lush, and so glad they made this decision, it highlights a very real problem that is being 'swept under the carpet', and for far too long.
Coming from the brand that pushes their employees so hard, and disciplining employees if they don't demo and show products to customers ever single opportunity they get? Not to mention creating a makeup line after saying they would never take that route? Seems like they just want to layoff their social media staff if you ask me. Also if they are staying on Twitter, that's not completely quitting social media. Its bizarre.
Gotta give props to Lush for trying to stay true to what they say is their mission/values, especially since their social media platforms had so many subscribers--that would be hard to let go. Would that we could all aspire to stay true to our own mission/values!
This is something I challenge everyone to do. I’ve deleted my social media apps for long periods of time and then will check in every once in a while. They want us looking down at our phones so we don’t notice what’s going on in the world around us.
For those of you who haven’t tried Lush products, give them a try! The soap is wonderful for sensitive skin and smells so nice, and they have so many other awesome products.
So glad to see people taking the right steps and calling out these platforms for what they are. Here's hoping more people will overcome their greed for the good of society.
I have been unplugged from facebook for almost 10 years now. People always find it strange that I don't use social media esp teenagers. There is a whole life out there beyond social media.
I have loved Lush for so long and wow, I'm gonna support them even more now. One of the boldest moves a company can make in this day and age where social media DRIVES sales. It almost seems insane but if that's what they call it in order to inspire change. Mad respects.
Random, but I actually miss getting paper catalogs and thumbing through them. Same thing with newspapers, magazines, and books. We're so used to everything being digital these days.
I don't think their sales will go down ... they are the only store of its kind to reach any kind of commercial success and on top of that, I think it's healthy for them not only as a brand, but also as individuals themselves to know and understand that there is life after social media. They are just going back to their roots and reminding their loyal clientele why they became Lush to begin with, and I absolutely LOVE THIS!! They are standing behind the true image of their brand and its real, it's honest and that is an element that we need in life!! We need a big corporation to tell us it's okay to connect with other elements and not use social media for every damn thing! It's horrifying to make believe or to feel that you "need" social media to survive/thrive. We've been a world before it and there's life after it. I am going to embrace it as it will give me more reasons to get out of the house and honestly just excited to go and see what they have instead of looking online beforehand--it will be a much more wholesome experience.
That would be so neat. The old catalogs were just newsprint. It would be nice to have a scratch and sniff sheet to go along with some of the most popular scents.
Ladies, thank you for bringing some positivity into this thread! The scratch n' sniff idea made me giggle :) its so nice to just see this news this morning and so much more nice to read positive feedback to match what I'm feeling as well instead of all that political/covid stuff! Turn off and unwind, indeed!! I too can't wait for my catalog❤
that will never happen and shouldn’t, Anybody who knows lush knows they would NEVER put out a catalog that completely goes against their brand of being echo friendly, half of their products don’t even have packaging for that exact reason.
I honestly have to say, kudos to a company standing up against things that have been proven to cause more harm than good. A company that strives to help us relax is going against the very thing that keeps our minds occupied on stupid needless things. Good job!
Brand awareness wise, that's pretty ballsy. Might save money by not paying for internet ads. Though, they'll probably just pay for real world space ads. Also wonder if they're currently and will continue to partner with *social media influencers* as a form of advertising.
I LOVE THIS! Social media is so toxic, takes so much time out of ur lives. I’m glad I’m off social media since two months and it’s absolutely so refreshing
This is very responsible of them, I really respect the decision and I fully agree. How can you get relaxed and switch off and give yourself proper self care, when we are constantly scrolling and keeping our minds awake and stimulated.
I have not had social media for 19 days. Got rid of it for good. It is harder than I thought it would be, but so worth it! I feel so alive and connected. And I am reading so many books! Mad respect to Lush to care more about their message than their sales. I already love them because they are organic and care about creating low-waste products, but this just makes me love them even more.
I commend the act I guess, but what about their employees that work their social media's? Their artists and videographers for these kinds of things? I hope they weren't just let go with this move
Applaud Lush for the decision to remove themselves from toxic social media! Very healthy move and love it! Too many entitled jerk consumers out there trying to ruin a brand for no apparent reason.
These days, I see social media mostly as a circus. Lots of activities to observe, but not necessarily to partake. It can offer platforms to gather voices and potentially create positive social changes, but most of the time it’s like a circus 🤡
I’m more shocked that so many people in these comments never heard of Lush before this. But I’m happy for you all that will now know about them and treat yourself to their products. They’re worth it!
Doing what no other company has the balls to do !! I love that lush is making such a bold statement !! I’ve been social media free (besides RU-vid) for 5 years and I love it !!
I've never shopped at Lush before but this makes me want to be a customer to support their goal. However, they'll likely revert their decision due to a tremendous loss of profits from the cheap effective advertisements from said social platforms.
Lol fair I don’t post on Instagram or Facebook bc I found that they are set up for super personal moments I still use RU-vid bc it is fun to connect with people on certain topics and Reddit There are a lot of subreddits that help me with pretty serious topics So I think everything in moderation and look at what purpose it serves you I still have Instagram but I follow animal profiles and mental health profiles If things get bad I go there for a small pick me up
I love Lush and this makes me love them even more. It's a powerful statement. I hope there are companies out there who will follow their example. Much respect.
Know your market. Some of the local 'wellness' related businesses in town thought everyone was on their side (their political stance about the Pandemic) and their stores have been empty the past 2 yr (bankruptcy on the way) so never make assumptions about your clientele. If they are on the opposing side, you're done.
I have never heard of this company but I love this decision. I own a business and I feel trap and so much of my off time with my family is been spent lately on social media. It’s like slavery. I have to compete with millions of people in the world doing dumb and dangerous things to get notice. I wanna go back to simpler times
Exactly I would rather them focus on sustainability and natural products than quitting social media. What difference is them quitting social media actually going to make in the long run??
We need to switch off social media as well. I recently took a two month hiatus from my most used social media platforms, and I haven’t really gone back. I feel so much better.
@Ashton Almond Right. But this is the Internet, and the company that unplugs itself from social media, will miss out on a huge potential opportunity to make connections with their customers, and they'll lose a lot of potential profit from missing out or unplugging their social media accounts.
@@mynintendogamingfeed5208 Child - this is why *you* don't run large, successful companies like LUSH. Their reasoning went right over *your* head r/wooosh!
Wow. That’s a brave and impressive thing to do. Social media platforms keep us a sl@ve. It’s bad on the mental health. Great job Lush. I’ll be supporting them now.
Im so happy!! Def buying from them more. Its so fun just occasionally getting one and putting it in a tub. Knowing they did this, Im much more inclined to support them!! Shows the company genuinely cares.
W O W SHOUTOUT TO YOU FOR AN AMAZING THING TO GIVE BACK TO THE WORLD OTHER THEN THE PRODUCT. 2 years w/o social media I’ve had a GREAT life. Seeing things with my own eyes not a screen. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This is amazing, I always thought they were great, this has made them so so so much more incredible and I definitely feel so much more love and support for them now, this just proves they are genuine.
This is such a huge step towards a new change in outlook on social media. It's ruining and controlling our society. Lush was bold for doing this, I hope some other companies follow.
