I am a reggae artist. Love to hear this man tell the truth about the youth being influenced by the music, especially the story of the confused "rasta" in South Africa who were lost after the era of Sizzla, Capelton and Buju. It has never been just entertainment, we true musicians are spiritual warriors, griots for our communities. We can either uplift or tear them down. No more music tearing us down, music to build us up my brothers and sisters. Respect.

Nightly Fix - it's just in recent times in the USA they even started using the term "Dancehall". Everything used to be called "Reggae". Every Jamaican singer or DJ was called a reggae artiste. Funny thing is that in Jamaica in recent times, I see artistes who we'd typically call 'dancehall artistes' now being referred to as 'roots reggae artistes'. I personally think artistes like Kabaka and Protoje are dancehall artistes. For me, roots reggae artistes are people like Luciano, Morgan Heritage, etc. Great interview!

Its great to see luthan teaching and you guys listening. dancehall didn't start in the 2000s. and how its perceived aboard. that's how you learn. kids can't teach kids majority of the radio station abroad playing reggae are pirate. In Brooklyn a borough of nyc there is more than ten not to mention Bronx and other boroughs and there is more than 12 million people in nyc alone not to mention ny state or parish. Guess what they playing 80s and 90s dancehall 95% new dancehall that play kartel movado etc. rarely you hear the battywash practitioner the blind boy. champion boy the only one you hear

Artist stop on nightly fix Channel let I make this public service announcement I am just using this platform a lot of bloggers / people in general are running around on internet saying Buju Banton put his hands on his son and that is false alarm Buju Banton just throw some of his son stuff out of his place of business because that dude has no manners and not following protocall and maybe some of his stuff or broken that's why he mentioned in that statement he are going to press charge people just need to use a common sense and think. SMH✌ continue artist let I finish hear what you have to say go

What is being called Reggae is NOT ; simple ! ! !

Ari, I think Jamaica is in North America. On another note, there is not a lack of great Reggae music being made in Jamaica. What happens is that while foreigners love our music, they love it even more when people who look like them perform it. Since Jamaicans don't have a culture of buying our own music, rather, we steal it, we force our artists to seek financial approval beyond our shores. Sad.
@jahakarto711

Jamaica is not in North America..... Jamaica is in the Caribbean... The Caribbean is boarded by the America's, North, central and South
@sherwood9917
@sherwood9917 5 лет назад
@@jahakarto711 I think the word you are looking for is "bordered," not "boarded." Yes, considering that Jamaica is a Caribbean island, it, of course, is part of the Caribbean. However, Jamaica is located in the CONTINENT of North America. Similarly, the countries that form Central America are also located in the CONTINENT of North America. So, while Jamaica and the countries that form Central America are in North America, Jamaica is not a Central American country. The more you know...
