I once sat down after a gig Luther had done at a local bar in the late 70s, and we watched the footage I'd shot of his show. And as we did, he described how and why he'd arranged the elements of his show to match the mood of the crowd. What an amazing lesson that was! Great musician, great showman, great guy! I miss him.

I gotta leave right now... I think he knew he was dying. I saw him the year before he died about 5 times and felt finality in his shows. Especially the night at the Vogue in Indy. Me and some friends were there from doors open, and I met Luther before the show and bought him a drink at the bar. He was sick. It was great to talk to him, but he was definitely ill that evening, tho he wasn't diagnosed until months later. What a treasure that is for me. He was a gracious guitar legend.
there is... but for many reasons those musicians get too little recognition. the world is fake now. and the few true people are just not enough to turn the tide. plus there is just not as much talent as in those days. the bar is set way lower for music while the bullshit bar is raised sky high. a bad musician with good looks will win over a normal lookin one who plays his soul out.
