I read that this song was written in the 80s and he kept it in the vault. It's a true winner. I wish he could have been alive to see how well it was received and to see that people are still listening to it in 2019.
This video reminds me of when I was a kid, would hang out with my friends riding our bikes across town and playing at the park, not a care in the world, we would do this every day in the summer
I never, ever get tired of this classic at all. Epic and unforgettable. I also love the sampling of Chic's disco classic "My Forbidden Lover" playing in the background.
This music video touches my soul every time I watch it. Been blessed to have come up nearing the end of a great period. I wonder if NYC will ever see days like this again.
'The ultimate luther classic just doesn't get no better' I frequently hear this classic at clubs in da hood, yeah I've seen people step to it, but I prefer to ballroom & chop down beautiful woman to it while they're stepping & hustling to it, u could also put a little Gregory Hines into if u want to....tap, tap, tap away!!!
I'm so late! I just heard this song for the first time in a club about a month ago. I LOVE THIS GROOVE! It's an awesome song with positive lyrics and hearing Luther again feels so good. Kudos to all who worked on this video!
Luther Vandross was my favorite male vocalist as far as his singing abilities were concerned! I loved him! I was fortunate enough to have seen him in concert twice! The first time they put on a fantastic show and it still rates as one of the best concerts I have ever seen! Every time I see this video, it reminds me of the ball I used to have playing outside with my friends, especially in the summer!. I also recall going to the neighborhood stores for candy, etc.
I dedicate this song to my young and most wonderful nephew, with the hope that he will be aware of all these pitfalls that come with popularity as there are many sharks out there. But like the song,he will shine❤
Listening to this GR8 track is a reminder that you never know what a GR8 Singer's last music will be! R.I.P. Luther Vandross, and very grateful to have been around to hear your music.
Luther was is and still is bad ass .check that bass and guitar hook his vocal breath love life and I've big love andying respect to you . r.i.p Luther the music industry took a big blow as did we .thank you for a lifetimes awesome music brother 😉
Luther Vandross: Oprah Winfrey loved this once in a lifetime talent! She used to go bananas over this dude! I miss Luther and his magical voice! He had millions of fans! He is resting in paradise/ RIP
I absolutely love this video , for its one of in my top 3 videos of all time. For me it magically captures the innocence of childhood years, playing out with your friends all day long!!! and the essence of teenage years. Couple this with Luthers magnificent voice, alongside a sampling of the legendary Chic. I cant think of any other video that delights me the way this does ..its magic x three ✨️
Produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis for Flyte Tyme Productions. The only production team that had the honor to sit in the producers chair to produce Luther. All other material was produced by Luther himself and/or his co-producer Marcus Miller.
Greatest producers. Also has the Chic guys on it, even though RIP Bernard Edwards can't be part of it. Oh, it's sampled from "Forbidden Lover" by Chic.
I believe this was actually the last Luther vandross video as you can see they only shows clips of him in this video he didn't actually appeared in it ....Rip Luther vandross the greatest male voice to ever shine on record
THE OW OF LKVE AND OTHER SONGS HE MADE WERE GOLD TO ME. A NATURAL BORN SINGER, WRITER, PERFORMER. OUTSTANDING, UNIQUE, IN EVERYTHING HE DID. I WISH WITH ALL MY HEART HE WAS STILL WITH US. HE WAS CLMFORTABLE ON STAGE, AND LOVED IT THERE. I NEVER SAW HIM PERFORM. BUT HE NEEDS TO GIVE HIS FANS MORE. I CAN NEVER. GET ENOJGH OF HIS TALENT
Thank you for posting. I've been listening to Luther since the 80s but hadn't heard/seen this one before. His sublime voice and fabulous songs = romantic and happy memories for me. Such a beautiful man gone too soon.
I brought the album when it was released. He had this in the vault and they released it when he died! I can play this song over and over again! Rest in Paradise Luther!
Wow, I was thinking this was going to take place in the club or something. But instead, this video is a lot more than that; just a bunch of normal people and kids living everyday life like they always do. Cool, Luther, really cool!
***** Not sure I buy that...He may have worked with Nile but never heard he helped with music arrangements unless it was for himself and not for Chic...
@louenkleinsmidt He was not in the group Chic. He only sampled their music. He was in the group Change. With that group, he recorded the songs: The Glow of Love, Searching among other songs
