I found you by accident, but after a few minutes you grab my attention. I am very selective who I follow. Your honesty and sense of humor is your strength. There are a lot of influencers now, but they are not all high quality. I currently follow very few but the ones I follow bring more to my life than clothes and makeup. Great video, Carolyn. I've done a horrendeous amount of spending in my 20's and i am never going back there. Had i known, what i know now, i'd be rich. I do not buy items unless i can afford it s couple of times over, just like you said. I do not go crazy for items just because its on sale, only buying quality timeless pieces. I do not follow the Jones's, cause i am just not that type naturally. Even when grocery shopping, i don't buy what's not necessary. I'm from NY, I’ve been moving around for the past 6 years. I used to get food poisoning at LEAST once a month when I was living in NY! I was always getting sick! Past 6 years I lived in TX and now WA State and not once did I get sick and we are trying new places all the time! So it's not you NY restaurants are scary! I love trying new places. I would try to keep track of what could have made me sick and after a while, I just gave up eating out.

Girl, I'm in the middle of purging a bunch of items I purchased this year. I can relate to everything you said in this video. I've always prided myself on purchasing items made of quality materials on sale. I purposely avoided luxury because I felt it wasn't worth the price. This was a hard year for me, and I discovered luxury influencers on RU-vid, which was a recipe for disaster. I've always been a FOMO shopper, a feeling down shopper, a feeling stressed shopper, but I added luxury goods to those habits this year which was a recipe for disaster. I'm sitting here with regret, making a list of items I am going to sell, at a loss, of course. Thank you for this video. I'm not saying goodbye to luxury, but I'm taking your advice. I will only purchase items I can afford to buy six times over and will put a lot more thought into my purchases. I will also add to my list only purchasing items I love and not just like. I'm not sure if you know, there's a browser Karma (also an app) where you can save items and will get notified when they go on sale. And most things go on sale within a month because of fast fashion in general - the competition and inventory is too much. No spend months can be supplemented with thrift months to balance with luxury spending.

Something is definitely amiss, C. I was in NYC last week and all the shops along Madison Avenue, etc, (except for Hermes) were empty. I mean, not a soul was in those shops. The sales staff were leaning against the counters and playing with their phones or staring off into space through the windows. All this on the week before Christmas. Crazy. I think part of it is the economic slowdown worldwide but especially in Europe (where a lot of the high end stuff is made), the other part is that the houses are not producing high quality stuff with amazing creative like they used to (thinking about Chanel here, but they're not the only ones). In Hermes, it was bustling, but to me it looked mostly like looky-loos. Happy New Year!

i totally feel the same way. i was doing that exact same thing with my shopping habits. what use to bring so much joy isn't anymore. i have too much and I'm hoarding myself out of space to breath or even wear or use the items. i could go on and on. iu will just journal it. can you let me know what or how you're going to change . can you just say no? or do you constantly have to tell yourself a mantra, etc , to stay focused.
