I agree with the revealing part, but I'd still say that change will happen over time. Human nature is a thing, and different people have different personalities, but they will always change and develop from the environments they live in-even if in different ways.

I grew up rich and I respect it as much, if one thing I am scared of money. It brings the worse in people, it ruins lives. Money is important until you can afford your medical bills, a decent home, food and good life. After that, it's poison.
Agree with @kuhaku. Nouveau riche are often less respectfully of money than old money, because old money has seen the fakeness, the conflicts and heartbreaks it can bring. Also the urge/longing to "buy it because u couldn't before" like a revenge, simply isn't there.

I had a friend from Africa and he said they don’t judge you on what you have there but on your kid’s behavior/respect etc. they don’t care about being flashy or material possessions like we do. But a good kid/family brings pride to parents. And he has definitely raised a intelligent, beautiful, hard working daughter. She is an anti-kardashian/Jenner. @@fitchner9406 I've witness this in our local families as well. the father/mother works had to be rich. The kids try to be frugal. The grandchildren's became spoiled, wasteful and ends up poor. Its a very sad cycle. I hope his grandkids wise up when cashing out those royalties in the future.

I go by this as well. It takes a while for me to buy things i want because i have to figure out in reality, am i going actually like this and get use out of it. Its going to sound stupid but having a switch and buying so many games that i didnt end up playing much taught me this lesson.
Yeah And if you've had a life/come from a background of not having enough money to just buy anything while growing up, not even basic necessities it's really hard to shake off that "is that really necessary now?" Question running through your head even when you have a lot of money and you decide to buy something expensive. It's a mindset and sometimes I feel it's for the better but emphasis on the word sometimes. Ofc we shouldn't turn super stingy and just not even spend money on basic necessities and a Lil funtime occasionally but it mostly prevents over boarding and develops an actual sense of money's value.
It can go both ways. Either they pinch every penny because they are still in survival mode or they splurge because they were never taught how to manage. I was diagnosed with cancer at 19 and had to do chemo. I went into remission and started working and got married and we did really well for ourselves but the chemo ended up damaging my heart and I went into heart failure. The first year we went through $34k in medical bills, that’s out of pocket after insurance, pre Obama care which caused them to refuse covering things because it was “pre existing” I was blessed and we had the money saved for something else but we still had it. The next year it was $17k and I couldn’t work anymore. My hubby crumbled under the pressure of watching all of this money going to treatments and his wife was still dying so I had to let him go to save his sanity. I was put on disability but then I got worse and almost needed a transplant but instead I got a pacemaker and a defibrillator and the only meds that saved me were $810 a month. My disability barely covered my rent alone. I ended up living in my car for 8 months during the pandemic but once I got my apartment I counted every penny every single day for two years budgeting and hanging on to it for dear life. Even after 2 years of being able to work steadily I still haven’t purchased a TV or even a sofa because I am still stuck in that mentality where I can start declining again and have to stop working. I don’t think I will ever be able to stop thinking that way tbh

When you used to be poor and you've worked your way up you know the value of money. Someone who's just been given everything without having to work for it does not know the value.
That’s unfortunately a paradigm issue. It’s like you’re chained in a prison without even knowing it, even if you have all the money in the world. It’s a shame really. Life is short to be living in that state of mind. You have to work hard on the mind to change it. Money won’t change it.
That's because you never stopped being poor mentally and spiritually speaking. People who became rich and got there through effort realize at some point that that much money is meaningless, as long as you have a house, food and you're doing what you love, that's true fortune, no watches or clothes or any of that nonsense. Being poor is a scarcity mentality, being rich is being grateful and thankful for what you have and making the best out of it.

Frugality is the best protection against going broke. You can be humble by just not talking about the amount of money you make/ spend. Not spending the money is how you stay rich
I dont even think he knows it. When you grow up dirt poor and you have trauma you do not ever feel wealthy. You never had the chance to ask for things and status symbols mean nothing to other poor people. I make good money now but grew up broke and if I didn't have a fiance I'd have a fold out table as a TV stand and a 400 dollar couch in a studio apartment lol. I don't like luxury items or the "finer" things. This is the only true thing I've seen these wealth channels post. Luxury exists to keep you poor. Treat yourself by spending time not money.
It's not necessarily humility, it's the FEAR of going broke that never leaves you when you grow up poor. Doesn't matter how rich you become later in life
