When I try to carry a little 4" blade it's hard to get a hold of. Only problem is sometimes it doesn't lock when I wave it out. Still haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong. These knives are so inexpensive it really makes sense to get them as a pair. Then you can swap them out as your needs dictate. It amazes me a cold steel got them built at this price. 2w Incubad I purchased the luzon 4" in October 2018 off amazon and had to return it. The deployment was horrendous and the liner lock was extremely stiff and made my fingers raw. There is also no real room on the thumb stud. The thing that made me return it was the fact that it opened up in my pocket. The tip does not have much protection at all from fabric snags and that's what did it in for me. 4" Luzon is definitely a street fighter. A rotisserie chicken from Costco came at me hard and fast, and I left it in pieces.

I started buying Cold Steel back in the 1980s, back when they were made in Japan. The value was there even back then. Always impressed with quality, thoughtful designs, functionality and aesthetically.

Well Col. Thanks to you I have carried the recon for over 6 years. Even bought the ex large for travel. I'm done. I'll carry this knife to my grave and leave my collection to my grandson.

I have a Cold Steel Spartan that I brought years ago when it first came out. Love it. It actually saved me from a altercation with three "gutter punks" and their pit bull.

I’ve been packing and flipping the 6” for about a week now. I carry an H1 Ladybug alongside for the sheepy types. But man. I can’t put the Luzon down! As a car flipping knife. I took it in the woods and carved down a walking stick for my girlfriend and it worked excellently. That flat grind does exactly what it should! Cold Steel wins again.

Between living next to Cold Steel's HQ and this crazy old bat reviewing knives my wallet doesn't know what to do. Used to have an EDC tray, now I have an EDC drawer.

Love this knife! I picked up the last 4" version SMKW had on display back in June. This knife instantly became my EDC blade. Its sharp as hell, I love the blade shape and how light it is. The action on it is like butter, just seems to pop open with ease. Overall a homerun from Cold Steel.

Reminds me of their ti-lite. The 4inch model was one of my first knives my dad got me for Christmas one year. Started carrying it when I was 16 until the end of college. Cold steel makes great stuff and I'll be getting myself this one for Christmas this year.

I just picked up a Cold Steel Voyager, somewhat based on your review from about 8 years ago, and its an awesome knife! Razor sharp, and a great price. Great brand!

Got a Luzon 4 inch from your Review. Have used it and it carries very well while in my slacks.

I edc my Cold Steel Rajah ii that I had to pull in Melbourne once. I'm a big fella that can handle himself and was vastly outnumbered until I pulled my Rajah. Pocket deployment was perfect and the sheer size of it appearing from my jeans front pocket was enough to end it all, right there and then....lol You could see they all wanted a closer look, but at a much further distance 😆😆😆 G'day from Australia mate.🇦🇺

I have approximately 8 months of edc use at work with the 6". The steel is sub par and thin, and comes with a very rapidly dulled extreme razor edge. It is not ideal for chores. It is however very resistant to chipping or snapping, and extremely thin sharp and pointy. It is tailor made for maximum legal weapon potential in a place with oppressive laws. My opinion is that as is typical of Lynn Thompson's work, it is a highly refined and very affordable purpose built precision uncompromising weapon, nothing more or less. If you want a work knife in this size, thicker and better steel is what you want, not this. Want an optimal single edge folding fighter? Here it is.

Id rather have the 6” blade in a defensive situation than a 4”, thats why I carry one.

I've been into knives for 25+ years, own and carry a LOT of brands/sizes, but for some reason have never tried a Cold Steel knife. Just bought the 4" Luzon and 3.5" Pro Lite Sport knives. LOVETHEM!!!!

I carry a Talwar XL daily and have done so for 3 years now. I love big blades and like to carry them always have and always will.

Another great video. Largely due to one of your reviews, one of my EDC knives is a 4" Cold Steel clip point voyager. I am getting the Luzions pretty soon. Guess I'm still old school enough to think that, even though drop points are good general purpose blades, they are also the most boring. I agree with your "big blade" idea. I do love a large clip point. Still saving for an XL Esapda. Praying for your shoulder to heal quickly.

I carry the smaller Luzon very regularly. But, I enjoy the largest Ti-lite and I love carrying the larger ti-lite with the Kriss style blade. I notice the larger cold steel blades ride perfectly in the pocket and lined up perfectly down the center of the thigh which always works for me. I love Cold Steel and the Luzon is a 9.5/10.

Mine's razor short out of the box I haven't sharpened it and I use it when I walk through the woods it chops through small limbs like butter and the blade still holds up it's a great freaking knife thanks for bringing out this video I think you're really awesome 👌👍🖐️

Got the 6 inch model, and used a Dremel Tungsten Carbide Cutter bit (#9901) to notch the flipper to grab my pocket for the wave deployment. Also replaced the clip with a metal one, I found the original clip was too tight on my jeans. Great knife, I love it!

I believe it does have a ball bearing system instead of phosphorus bronze washers. I saw it in a disassembly video cuz I was curious as well as to what it was running on.

I got one of them there 6" Luzon. The Espada with "wave" type opener (works fantastic) is the bomb.

The whole bit about US Manufacturers goes 'cold' when the Luzon twins proudly display "CHINA" on the blades.

I have both Luzon's and enjoy both. Carry the 4 inch daily and the 6 inch is my fun factor !

I like that belt clip for carry in business casual. Handle seams a little bit thick for that use-case but I like it. At that price it's pretty hard to argue with.

A full-size Cold Steel Rajah (6” blade) - rapidly deployed in an underground parking garage - prevented my truck from getting jacked by two meth heads. They literally freaked and split, very quickly. When you can’t legally carry a firearm, a big folding knife can and will save your ass in those rare situations when you’re cornered and your life and/or property is at stake. Cold Steel understands this reality. Sheer size is intimidating as hell, and 9 times out of 10 will defuze a bad situation fast. If it absolutely needs to be employed defensively, a large knife will give you great reach, and cause a longer/deeper wound channel. The coolness factor of bigger knives is just an added bonus.

Wow I actually got something BEFORE you reviewed it! I've had both those luzons for a couple of months now.

I have to send back the one I just received. Too much metal for the liner lock to engage. So now I get to see how good customer service is.

Nutn, thanks for the great review. After going to a local “hardware” store that only had Micrtech and Benchmade tools for multi hundreds of dollars I’m glad Coldsteel is still making great products that are affordable for the working man. In Florida I need a good tactical fighter that will be a force multiplier on the street and not in my wallet.

I am a huge fan of the medium. I’ve carried it for several months on and off and used it as a non tactical knife for LE duty. Cold Steel knocked it out of the park again.

I carry 2 knives every day and one is always the cold steel hold out that's 6" long and then most the time I have a cold steel ak47 but it's fun to change it up now and then.

Just got this in the mail yesterday for $40 bucks, the 6 inch blade!I have the XL G10 Espada (Love it) and this blade still surprised me and made me giggle when I got it in my hand! 😆 Anyways, I wish that they had this version...a cheaper version...and a G10 version with AUS 10. This clip is not bad, but I’m working on sanding down the clip because it gets caught so deep sometimes when I’m attempting to “wave” it from my pocket... If you can get one, I highly recommend the R1 Military Classic. San Mai III preferred. Gorgeous. Very well-made. About as close to a Randall 1 as you can get. Along the lines of the Blackjack Model 7 and SOG Agency, too. Just sick.

I want both the 6" and the 4". I wish both came in a gift set. Kind of like the holiday knife sets from Walmart only it wouldn't suck.

Just order myself the Cold Steel OSS for Christmas. And it was on sale!

I have the larger one, aside from the cool factor it is a fully functional defensive knife. I still haven't figured out what to do with it though.

I've had the 4" luzon for about a year. My only complaint is the thumb stud. I wish they would have just left it as a flipper and not put it on. I DID stipple my luzon and it was well worth the 20m it took.

I have had a Luzon large since June 2019. I LOVE THIS BLADE. Only 8cr13mov, but that doesn't matter for a martial blade. Not heavy at all considering the size. Very intimidating blade and I feel much better when I carry this where I cannot carry a firearm.

The Luzons are fun knives. I have both sizes. Cold Steel is really hitting it. You need to check out the 4Max Scout. Just got mine and it is awesome.

My Luzon bounces closed when I wave it sometimes. I will be removing the quillion that waves the knife... maybe. I’m not sure yet

I edc my 5.5" talwar everyday. Love it. Never leave the house without it. I love the size and shape of the luzon blade, but I really hate the handle. Not in love with the steel ( I know I know) either. I do want to try some slimmer knifes so the frenzy is the leading contender right know.

The Steel Will Cut Jack is a sweet little knife. They have a decent priced $40 or so D2 and a $60 version with better steel. Both are excellent knives.

I've been waiting about a year for this review. My son wanted the golden eye but it was sold out so he went with the blue broken skull. Swig of beer for the working man.

The 4 inch Luzon and the 4 inch Tanto Voyager are on my 2020 short list.

I've been carrying mine for a year got it the same day u posted this only problem I have is closing it the blade makes contact with a screw and rolled the edge in that spot

Been carrying the xl luzon for a year now. Love it to death. Cold steel's 8cr13 is nothing to sneeze at. Their heat treat makes it act like aus8.

I’ve been a fan of and using Cold Steel knives and other items for almost 15 years now. Like Nutnfancy says, they’ve had a few missteps, but for the most part you get high quality knives and other products at a killer price. I like blades I can use and try to avoid “safe queens”. If something happens to my $40-$120 knife it’s not as bad a blow as if something happens to a $300-$400 Zero Tolerance or $500 Microtech.

Nutn could you recommend an overcoat to hold that big folder?

I have a both haha, the big one always had like no detention for the blade, I like it real loose it just flies out without using the wave or thumb stud

I bought one of these a month or so back because I just instantly loved the blade shape and I wanted something in this category. Only criticism is the handle material and that pocket clip. I'd happily, happily, pay double for one with nicer handle scales and a better metal pocket clip. It's basically superb otherwise.

I used to have pretty big pocket knife collection....but they where all small. And as soon as i got my luzon large i gave away all my other knives😂....this is hands down the most intimidating easy to carry biggest pocket knife ever

I carry my 6" vaquero daily. Love it. Having big hands, big blades give me a positive grip. The oh shit looks when I pull it out, definitely brings a smile to my face.

Reminds me of the ti light 6. On of my favorite blades. 2nd kinda cool. It's just a sexy blade.
