Her war cry right before death is so tender because she's so small, but also so fierce and passionate and powerful. That little actress is incredible, and that scene always makes my eyes tear up.
I think one of the the things that people miss with Lady Mormont is that she is the one truly pure soul we meet in Game of thrones. Her faith absolute, her will iron, her loyalty unshakeable and her courage unwavering. Jon may have been the King of the north, but Lyanna was the embodiment of its truest soul. Without a doubt my favorite character in the series.
@@eddiewinehosen6665 I can’t get them to do it independently, like I did. I have to check on them and punish them and they are not internally motivated. Lady Mormont was and that is my point. Forcing someone to do something is not a recipe for long term success, but maybe you don’t get that.
I feel like one day, maybe a couple generation down the line, the Starks may have enough people in their family to spark some conflicts. They'll pick the most badass, unruly and unrelenting of themselves, and name them Mormont, and wish them luck living up to her legacy.
I Love Lady Lyanna Mormont, First of her name, Lady of Bear Island, the Giant Slayer, Hero of Winterfell, Protector of the North, Guardian of the North and Defender of Mankind. "We are not a large House, but we're a proud one." RIP Little Bear, the North Remembers.
"We know no king but the king in the North, who's name is Stark.i don't care if he's a bastard, Ned Stark's blood runs through his veins. He's my king, from this day to until his last day. " Never fails to give me goosebumps everytime. The actress delivered the lines to perfection.
In spite if being a 10 year old girl ruling a small House, this character was extremely believable. Every time she opened her mouth during her scenes, she was spot on with everything she said. She was honest, direct, loyal, truthful, sincere, determined, proud, courageous and unflinching, and she remained consistent with those values throughout the series. She stood by those values, and died by them. RIP Lady Mormont. With a character like her. How the fuck did the writers manage to fuck up the last season?
I think the only reason we all think they fucked up the last season is because we all made the mistake of forgetting what made us love it in the first place think about it the night king was beaten we all thought he play a bigger role but aria killed him and saved the world Danny we all thought her and snow should rule and because they were both targaryens we shipped them even though she was his aunt two dragons died think about it. It wasn't the writer who really ruined the show it was us because at the end we started to believe in fact we expected the show to have a happily ever after but Game of thrones is not a fairy tale
@@amazingemrys2939 Well, no. Sesason 7 was a mess because dialogue was ruushed and not meaninful in any way, comedy relief was downgraded to clownery instead of keeping up with the sarcasm, there was no poetic justice either… AND the characters were less credible by the minute. Suspension of credibility from season 5 onwards, my dude. A total mess.
Because her character was the culmination of their writing and directing ability. She was no more believable than a dragon flying over New York city would have been. She was easily manipulated, brave for no reason, listlessly wise, Arrogant to a fault, and was only given the basic tragic back story that all lazy writing produces. (Responsibility thrust upon her by the tragic death of her parents and brother fighting for a noble cause, she grow wise beyond her years through reverse osmosis having never experienced a battle, or a conflict other than squabbles with her siblings of the occasional village kid trying to look up her skirt.) Come on, she is swinging weapons that easily weigh 7-10 lbs like they are made of paper. My 10 year old can't swing a hammer for more than a few minutes and she helps me in my forge regularly. A marry sue character created to be a literal David and Goliath yet the point of that story was to show how David's own skills worked to his advantage.
On the field of battle, the biggest was taken out by the littlest, she bravely chose to fight rather than run and who would blame her. That death scene and sound of her being crushed always gets me 😭
A bit like Sansa who played pretend at leading armies, and undermined job constantly Infront of soldiers, but hid in the crypt until she was safe 🤦🏻♀️
@@london0961 Yes, there are those who Lead from the Front, taking on every risk they ask others to take. Soldiers would follow Sansa out of a sense of duty and obligation rather than deep respect and/or love, like Lady Mormont or Jon Snow. That's not to say that every good leader has to fight alongside their soldiers, just don't lord over them, taking credit and generally acting as if their lives are not worth as much as yours.
Dude the speech she gave everyone when she proclaimed Jon as King of the North still gives me chills. That entire scene just gives me goosebumps! It’s sad the the last season was such a lackluster but had great moments like that that made it worthwhile. Ive actually been rewatching GoT since HoD came out and my god it was soooooo fucking good in the beginning! So fucking good! Season 1-4 have been so good so far.
I dunno that young lady was so tough and determined, I think even then she had something stiffer than apple juice. That child could chew iron ore and spit nails.
I know she's a fictional character but if i had half the grace, courage and balls as that little girl I'd be proud of myself. What a well written character.
@@stefananetoh475 Lyanna loyalty to House Stark was rare to see but she honored her vows from the start of her reign until she took her last breath, she's a hero to her people for her brave sacrifice.
Just that quote "house Mormont has kept faith with the Starks for 1000 years" The fact she knows and I think truly understands that loyalty... Is just incredible. Incredible acting, Incredible execution, all around unbelievable young lady. Both character and actress.
I once knew a man named Trafford. A thief turned soldier under Lord Tywin's banner. I took the pleasure of gutting him alive with a bread knife for "forgetting" to deliver a crucial message that should have won us a battle and should have saved lives.... I can see that the same tradition of "forgetting" runs in the family.
She was one of my favorite characters. The ferocity of a grizzly with the defiance of a 10 year old who hasn’t realized she’s mortal. She’s so over the top that she becomes a believable character. Especially when she’s dressing down the other houses for not answering the call. She’s so focused on the promises made that she doesn’t understand, or refuses to understand, the complex politics that would force them to break oath.
One of The most powerful characters of game of thrones, male or female. And arguably one of The best characters in the last two seasons. The young lady killed it in every scene she was!
both jorah mormont and lyanna mormont died heroically protecting people in the middle of the battle - feel sorry for the mormont family so many deaths recently and the women die at such young age :(
@@triggerwarning5911 And that's the point about really good writing. It draws you into that world and gets you personally invested in the characters and their lives. Anything that can trigger that kind of empathic reaction can be pretty powerful. And as we saw in the later seasons, hard to replicate.
@@NorthForkFisherman Yeah except for the fact GoT writing became objectively dog shit around the sixth season *even before that if you're a book reader* and especially afterwards... But if here death wasn't just cringie nonsense (as if her entire little 10yo body wouldn't of been crushed into dust the moment the giant squeezed his hand) I'd even have a bit more sympathy, but in tandem with the horrific writing meh
She's such a strong character I fell in love the first moment I saw her and she was well ahead of her time because she had to be and that's what made her special her death was actually the one that made me tear up the most.
Watching a little girl talk mad shit to her gray elders with such a level of authority they can’t even smart off or back sass is such a pleasure to witness. Wish we could see more of her.
Love her character too, but cannot forget the little girl, when they're passing out food, who says "Where should I go?" "Where do you want to go?" "Both my brothers were soldiers, I want to fight too..." this scene really is underrated in my opinion.
It was dragons that made me start watching this show, because I'm fascinated with dragons but in the end I fell in love with the wolf (Arya) and the bear ( Lady Lyanna Mormont) ...two bestest characters of the show! Strongest and the most loyal to their family! Two warriors who are afraid of nothing !
Is it weird that the dialogues of a fictional character makes my skin crawl... Cause, damn... It gives me the chills... And gets me teary when she dies...
I'd give her that running out there in half plate armor slaying a giant only too have ur body crushed I wouldn't give arya that lvl of bravery but arya is more of a smart fighter I feel like she could a killed it without dying
Lyanna Mormont The Legend , The Lady of Bear Island , Entombed the spirit of her sigil The Bear. Her Roar of her words cut you to the bone , Flash of her teeth and claws show the ferocity of her bravery. Oathkeepers the house that never broke faith . Slayer of wight walker Giant . The Last of House Mormont . RIP Little Bear .
Lady Lyanna did not have a lot of screen time. But what she had was outstanding and made one of the biggest impacts on GOT definitely one of my favorite characters
There are no words to express how much I love her and her badassery. If you ever wanted a strong female role model for little girls here she is. Lyanna Mormont - The Giantslayer.
Hands down one of the most powerful characters in this show completely real down to earth gave no shit and took none went out like a champ respect wish more female characters were this awesome
You are a true Queen in the north. You brave, strong and a child voice of justice and courage. You are the bravest Queen in the north from this day until our last day👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑💪💪💪❤❤❤👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑
Lyanna's speeches always chokes me up, but this one made me cry. One of the best compilation videos of Lyanna Mormont. Good job, especially like your choice of background music. I hope we get a character with this much bravery, heart, and acting in The House of Dragons.
That level of integrity of character is hardly seen among any adult human being today..even though its a fictional character, but it surely is an honourable one
This is why it is crucial and important to reach your child about their history. I know it just a show however she was my favorite and I cry when her character died. She was brave!!!
Her and Jorah were two of my favorite characters but I just now realized that with their deaths, House Mormont has effectively died out during the long night…
Bella Ramsay the actress who played her will certainly be worth watching for. Loved that her parents decided she shouldn't watch the whole of series 8 until she was a lot older............
well sansa would be the queen so would marry a guy if so , and bran cant have kids so she wouldnt of been able marry him , and jon was in love with daenerys and got exiled so wouldnt be able marry him , other then them their is no branches of the main stark family left only side branches of lesser which is distant cosins etc
Lyanna Mormont, only ten years old and she’s Lady of House Mormont, leader of her own House. With great responsibility and she kept it well. She took action like no other lords, she remain faithful to House Starks, and even in their hours of greatest needs, she answered their calls. She is the true notherner. Even her last breath, she face death. But in her last moment she fought back. She truly is Lyanna Stark reborn. The North Remembers. May she Rest In Peace. Seven Blessing to her and her House.
I can't stop imagining a statue of here on Bear Island, with here tiny size standing defiantly over a huge dead giant with the inscription: Lady Lyanna Mormont, The Wight Giant Slayer
Jon: "Northeners... are a bit like the Freefolk. Loyal to their own." Last time I checked, it was a Stark that technically speaking, enslaved the Freefolk and giants and all to build The Wall, and then... LEFT them beyond The Wall with the Wight Walkers and their wights, in a damn near frozen wasteland
