Lycidas by John Milton Part 1 

Milton's poem 'Lycidas' which was composed in the form of a pastoral elegy was written in 1637 to lament the accidental death, by drowning of Milton’s friend Edward King. This poem first appeared in a 1638 collection of elegies which was compiled to commemorate the death of Edward King.
